anyone thought about Insight?

The main Idea I think would be to take advantage of the prayer synergy to Meditation..in other words you would have on whatever your main aura is and free meditation that heals you.

I've come up with several ideas but as most of them are just ordinary builds that put 20 in prayer and use Insight weapon, I've decided to only post my most interesting ideas.

Frost Charger-cleric variant
20 prayer
20 charge
20 Holy Bolt
20 FoH
rest in Freeze

This puts meditation to use decently, while casting the paladin in more of a supporting role, but also keeps charge as a nice attack so he isn't totally defenseless.
This idea was inspired by jumbo-SHRIMP who made a cleric in 09 that used Holy Freeze and Charge with a ribcracker

Ultimate Cleric
20 prayer
15 cleansing
20 HB
20 FOH
rest in sanctuary
this could be fun with a good elite staff you will be very strong vs undead in infested areas and an uber-regenerating healer elsewhere. (too bad staves don't generate with pala skills eh?)

Anyway I just wanted to see what other people have thought of. For some reason I haven't found a Sol rune yet on ladder so I haven't tried these yet.

well... what aura will u be using?? Holy Freeze??
Cuase when merc uses meditation it will regenerate mana very nice but u wont get health healed so thats a bad thing, and if u will be using prayer meditation wont help if u use prayer nonstop. Cuase u wont get mana.. so it could work.. But would be really hard i think..

its not the merc that is using it, its the pally that is. His idea is to insight a staff or polearm, use it for the mediation/prayer bonus, and then have some fun with it. I think it has potential, myself. I am not sure about the frost crusader, but it could do well enough as a bear pally, maybe? or use it as a zealot, just make sure to get some serious fhr, lol.

yes. It will give you life because of the direct correlation between prayer, cleansing, and meditation. Whatever level of healing prayer is at is the same level of healing you get from either cleansing or meditation.

Found a Sol rune last night running nightmare countess, and made Insight in a Battle Scythe I had been saving, but I don't have my paladin leveled up yet. I decided to go the Cleric/crusader route and i'm retaining a prayer merc for even more healing.

got my pally from 26-30 tonite and was able to put on my Insight.

this thing is really cool

i've got a little bit of mana leech but i can tell that this regen thing really works. for one, i just stood out in the blood moor and cast 85 holy bolts with only base energy (about 65 mana)--the mana used for my current level of holy bolt (slvl 10, 2.5 mana cost) ws a total of 212.5. Another thing i noticed was that i can effectively charge all day long, tho we do need to add in the effect of mana leech here. third, sorcs and necros don't mind that i'm not constantly at the front because THEY can spam all day long while their life regenerates a little. I'm not sure yet how well the life regen works--i've got 10% ll from sigon's so my physical damage fills me up pretty good--but i can tank almost as well with Insight as with Ancients Pledge and sword. This inludes tanking Diablo.

It will be interesting to see how challenging this becomes as I move into nightmare and come up againt the resistance penalty. Also, finding a new weapon to take me past nightmare will probably be a challenge because of the steep stat requirements on polearms.

current gear:
dumb helm
dumb ammy with 7 res all and +3 life regen
dumb ring and boots with resists--3% ml on one ring
Sigon belt and gloves--excellent partial set combo with FR and 30% ias
upped Hawkmail (tigulated mail--requires lvl 30, 86 str)
Insight Battle Scythe (req level 27 on account of Sol rune, 82 str, 82 dex)
on switch--rare war sword and Ancient's Pledge
in stash--Sparking Mail--used until recently

merc--a3 cold guy--probably ditch him for barb and then HF merc

Ive been using insight col vol on my merc since it came out... with a hammerdin I never pot and never use redemption.


I tried it first on a prayer merc thinking that meditation would keep him praying and me in life and mana.. but it dotn wrokthat way.. his prayer is so low and slow it tookeforever to heal up 100 pnts.. and in mf runs I just cant afford to stop and wait ...

so I put it back in a HF merc and its worked geart ever since.


Id planned on making a sorc w Insight staff and become the ehchanter/ caster from hell..but ive got pallies to build:)
