Liberator Revisited

I'm thinking of making a new Liberator, having not made one in 1.10 before.

I've been reading up on the 1.10 version(s), specifically the Guide by LovelyGods. I remember seeing not-all-that-long-ago Lovely posting a question on whether people would like an update on the guide. What I'm here to ask is if that update isn't coming somewhat immeadiatly; are there any glaring changes that Lovely (or anyone else for that matter) would make to the current one archived in the strategy compendium? Just wondering if there's been any breakthroughs/minor changes/tweaks/whatever that I should know about before starting my new Liby.

I'm definatly intrigued to share thoughts about Liby's, just remember I haven't used a Charge/Hammer (or similar) version in 1.10, being a pure 1.09 Liby player :xsmile4:. Definatly like to hear any ideas or theories you have. For the record I'm NL, but I'd still like to hear any major ideas with the Ladder r/w's, may even cause me to start up Ladder (again, *sigh*) or at least wait for the r/w's to hit NL. I sure loved my 1.09 Liby :xsmile:.

Can you list sone of your changes, I started making a new lib on ladder and got to lvl 84 and stopped for a while since I need a lot of small charms to make the build viable.

I was using a setup which was allowing me to hit 75% FCR without switching my weapon.

I was using this setup on items (please let me know some ideas on changes)

My setup currently at lvl 84 is:

Grief Zerker axe? what do you think about this or do you think death zerker would be better?

Fortitude armor 25% FCR weeee, I am not sure the 200% Enhanced damage really works. I put the armor on my pure charger and did not see hardly any jump in damage unless it is a hidden value (any thoughts on this?)

Shako (ber'd)
mara's currently (may switch out later for a 10% ammy and replace ring)
Stormshield (-15% Req/14 all resist jewel)
1 soj
1 10% FCR ring with 17 str, 79 mana and a few other useless mods
Arach belt
Magefists

This setup gives me 75% FCR so I do not need to make a weapon switch and can just keep CTA on weapon switch

Ideas on charms????

Boots: rare with 40 LR, 30 FR, 30% FRW and also treks.

Please give me your ideas, I love the build but am sorta in limbo on it on ladder right now. My resists stink and casters are killing me a lot.

Also what FHR should I be aiming for?

Although I didn't have the option of other places in .09, I still like the idea of getting your FCR from the weapon. IMO if you're getting it from Trang+Arach+Ring, then that's 3 pieces of gear you are sacrificing when using charge. I'd much rather stick to my good old Wiz' Spike.

Also, do you guys find that it's better to use a 1h weapon or 2h weapon when charging thesedays? Seeing as Charge is meant to be used more so against ranged attackers, I would figure than you would not need block, but probably still need a shield for the resists. I USED to use Wiz Spike+SS for my Hammers, and have Headstriker+HoZ(Um) on switch for charge. Ahh, the days of .09

often the best way to go is to have 1 switch for hammers and 1 for charge. Evidently, it IS highly viable to just use your charge weapon. With your high level or hammers, most chars will die in 1-2 hammers. Unless you are dueling heavy smart smiters/barbs, you really dont need that extra fcr. However, when u do come across a real challenge, the weapon switch is necessary. If you prebuff your bo, you should be able to reach level 15+ on a good libby, and it will last for a couple of duels. I plan to use:

Main All Around Setup:

HoZ
Enigma
Arach
Magefist
10% fcr, 13 str ring
Ravenfrost
Mage enigma
Maras
Grief Zerk or Botd Zerk
Cta on switch

Serious Duel:
Hoto+HoZ on switch instead, ditch 10% fcr 13 str ring for a soj.

Vs necros:
switch out maras for highlords

Vs Sorcs/trapsin
Nokozan+dwarf
Tgods+wisp
Snowclash+Raven+160 cold shield

Vs foher:
160 light shield
Tgods

Vs Barb:
Swap HoZ for Exile, swap grief/botd for hoto

If u keep enough items in your stash, you will be able to counter any char in the game... you could go to such measures as:

botd warpike for necs
sanctuary for missile'd chars
rising sun for fire chars
and so on and so forth to specialize vs certain classes.

I hope you know that you can put 4 ptopazes/psapphires in a paladin shield that has inherint 40ish resists, giving you 200 instead of 160.

I plan to go one better and make Sanctuary in a good Pally Shield (Vortex if possible.) Stats like 70% base block with good defense, decent FHR, and a possible ~110 all res is a nice thing to have for stacking. Not as effective for pure stacking, but allows you to keep block among others. Much more useful for me personally as most of my dueling isn't 1v1.

F/R Druids seem to be a real problem for the Liberator. Otherwise theyre a pretty solid build.

Use a 1 hand charge weapon so you can chase down all the bowzons and still have a good shield up (SS is nice).

a liberator isnt something you can make successful by reading a guide and strictly using what the author tells you to. mine rocks, and its not even like any of the setups i heard in this thread.

I have a Liberator myself, and I find Doom + HoZ to be an optimal setup. Doom's +2 skills works decently with hammers, allowing me to hit 9k while slowing fast chargers. And at 3k - 8k charge with 53% deadly strike, my charge isn't too bad, either. It also allows me to use CTA on the switch.

i use razors edge to charge with :D every1 laughs to me when DS% doesnt trigger.. but when it does it 1hitko's chars with life under 1k :D.
and it takes away alot of life from 2k's :P

but im not getting good enough hammer dmg and i dont need this much charge dmg and i also think i dont need this much fcr so doom and hoz sound like a great idea(thanks i would have never thought of doom) but the only problem is how are your resists?

I've considered a bunch of different gear layouts and have come to the conclusion that balancing +Skills, damage and FCR all on one side. If you don't switch weapon sides to switch attack modes you'll have reduced efficiency.

If you try out weapon switch with a HotO you should be fine with Resists.

but still a waste, since he 'singlehanded' revived a old pala build.

He has updated his guide and version 2 is much better.
anyone with google and some fingers can probaly find it.

His guide is good but once ladder merges it will have to change. I agree with the other post before about no room for CTA. Thats why when ladder merges charge/caster switch will be on one side only and the other side for CTA. The best of both worlds.
