View Full Version : KTA 9.0 - A Train Kept A Rolling
Or should I say - a steamroller ?
So far, nothing can stand in our way. And I like it :D
Things have changed though, monsters have a little bit more life, so I actually get the opportunity to charge up to 9 charges on three different skills and then getting to kick monster rear end. Before, my charges would just fizzle out due to everything being long dead before I'd get a chance to release.
We took a quick stroll through the remainder of Act II - the maggot lair actually wasn't a pain for a change, and quickly taught Duriel why one should not guard Important Plot Characters. They really should upgrade his drops though - I mean, I'd have appreciated me some good ole fashioned Sigon's Boots.

After that, we happily continued on to murderize a great many birdies, 'Ents' and midgets. The latter in particular are pleasant to kill... so many can gather round, meaning that the splash of a well aimed and charged Dragon Tail just wiped out a great bunch of them.
With a complete lack of challenge, we breezed through the rest of it until disaster struck.
Both Det and Schnaf had to go offline early to consume a lot of alcohol.
We noticed we'd missed the Great Marsh waypoint, so backtracked and then continued ever onwards...
We saved the book quest for next time, but went as far as murderizing that Council that keeps tormenting those poor Zealots. Everyone knows Zealots have a hard enough time as is without being tormented by ES/FE Gelebs.
WPs have been gotten, and Wills muled.
Powerplay again was missing in action, though Chiller Babe informed us he has some sort of computer problems. Just how he informed her of such remains a mystery.
Finds of the day (for me) :
Duskdeep (now on Javazon)
15 life, 5 mana large
and a gambled Circlet : 50 Poison over 5 sec, Half Freeze and 29 life.
I must say PA sins are a blast to play - so much micromanagement going on... I had to re-set my quick keys, so I can have 6 or so within easy reach with my left hand for Charge Ups and Mind Blast.

sounds good guys, if you end up being one short, cuz power can't make it or is going to be too far behind when he gets back online, look me up, i assume its the same times it was way back in 7.0

Well...after returning in a cloud of booze I actually me Aerath online again and we got Council quest for me as well. Chances are that many of us will feel the urge to further test their characters or we even meet online, so 27 sounds okay, levelwise.
At least in normal Volcano works nicely even at lv 1, but the 4 second delay is just scandalous...I mean..not even Meteor has that :rant:
So...I will be on the lookout for 3 and 4 socketed bows. Plan is to do act 4 and a fair share of act 5 on Monday. Wednesday with Baalruns until we hit 40+. The weekend should see us doing private Baals/cows I guess so that we are all around a nifty lv 40-ish for NM.
Thanks for the screenies Aerath...I notice how everybodies Gamma is set really high when they post them. I like tha dark and broody look (and always "Z" your ugly mugs away...)

...BUT...
...its kinda hard for me to imagine a situation where neither my own computer works, nor I have the opportunity to use the internet connection at work/a friends house/whatever for a week to drop a short message? Last activity was on january 6th in our new year thread...saying FAzon is present...hum hum...
But whatever, this doesn't help...We don't know how long his problem will last? Is he there on Monday or when we enter NM? What do we do? If we recruit another member we should do by Saturday and give a rush so that he/she can be there on monday....

I agree with Det. It would be nice to be 8 on monday. We will always lose some during the road to Hell Baal, so it is good to be a full group from the beginning. Anyone joining should be able to get rushed up to where we are and lvl up to 26-27.
Now, back to yesterdays slaughter.... We are moving fast, maybe too fast. It's hard to keep up if you want to gather some items to sell for gambeling. Not that i am complaining or so because i know this will slow down when we draw near nm and hell. But still, its sometime hard to throw out curses and miss because the mosters are already dead.... :D
I managed to gamble myself a nice rare circlet with +1 to curses... Gogo Mojo..

In 8.0 it was so fast for me, I had to cool down and think about items between our games ;) Now I try to keep pace with the group, but I think we just want to get past most annoying areas (meaning: normal acts 2 and 3), and we'll naturally slow down later.
And yea, we have to find someone on Power's place, cuz there's a lot of possible ways (friend/work/school/cafe) of informing what's going on. After all we're 8 mature people, and trust me, if I have to make choice between going for a coffee with f.ex one friend IRL, and gaming with 7 others online, I feel it's kinda justified I want to keep my word to 7.
Unless of course Power is ill or something - in this case, sorry! Shall we officially invite someone new now?
Don't forget that we've played this act game so often we can pretty much dream it.
It's not until NM/Hell that the challenge starts, so we're just rushing to get to that part :)
Well...we do have a member that is fairly new to HC and playing in a group. I take the liberty to speak for schnaf 'cause apparently she still can't log in (and as you can see I have my own d2.net trouble - having lost PAL status though I did renew my donation. I mailed about it and got no reply so far...which does annoy me)
Not least schnaf plays a german version and needs to get used to all the abreviations we throw around and english item names. So, yes..it wouldn't be too bad if we slowed down a bit. Seriously...everybody please call "town" or "2 mins break" if you need a breather. We are not in a desperate rush to finish :)
Now...we don't wanna break the forming kta 9.1..so who do we invite and how?

I think Power have had a chance to state his position on this matter. If there are some issue behind Powerplays disappearance that makes him unable to answer our calls I apologies, But as things looks right now I would gladly invite Tai into KTA 9.0.
If you don’t disagree I would like Tai to pick a build of is own choice and tell us the account where we can reach him. If possible I will rush his char this weekend to where we are in the game.

No work
No school
No internetcafe nearby. (and no money since no work :P)
No computer at home since mine died and this PC can't run D2 (I barely make it onto the internet)
So I couldn't inform you of my problems. But this gave me enough time to keep my gf happy.
Maybe be I'll be back for 10.0 but I don't really count on it because my new PC gives me WAY more power than before so I can go play the games I always wanted to play but couldn't...
(unreal2, Halflife2, Need For Speed Underground2, Splinter Cell2, etc, etc)
I will keep on reading here to see how you're doing with 9.0
And again sorry for me not being able to inform any of you but seeing how suddenly my CPU fried I didn't really think about D2 but more along the lines of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NO MORE INTERNET!!!!!!!!

I clocked an old pentiumIII 1.0GHz to 1.8GHz and then the cooling failed which simply fried my CPU (and Mobo)
Luckily my dad is ready to buy me a new PC since no PC means no internet for him. (and at 50 euro a month for cable broadband...)
1.8GHz (AMD Sempron 2800)
516MD DDR
ATi Radeon9250
(etc, etc, etc. All for 399,00 euro which my dad is paying... Which means I'll be washing the car and doing the dishes far into 2007...)
but right now I'm using an old Pentium 166MHz with 32MB ram (which feels like I'm trying to empty an ocean one drop at a time... AGONIZINGLY SLOW!)

I hope you enjoy your newborn freedom and that your new comp will present your new addiction's with speed. I do have the power to run these new 3D games but still i fall back to this old 2D hack'n slash game. I guess i'm just on old fart that can't take the heat from games like DOOM3 and HL2...
And if you do get the urge to get back to this old game your more than welcome to join us again.

Well, I got me a shiny 3.2 GHZ P4 with a GeForce 6800 by the end of last year...not least to be up to gaming for the next 3 years (and because it is tax deductible for me :D ). But I also want to give Doom 3 and HL2 a try. The way it has been going with LOD I am just afraid I'll be like Nexplo..look at the graphics, be in awe and then return to LOD.
Had an eyeopener today: I found a Double Bow in cows, got 4 sockets in it, made HARMONY in it and slapped it on my zon. Man, how I missed her :)
Levelled her a bit, muled some gear on...its official....I just don't have as much fun with my Shako/Stormshield/Wizzy sorc as I have playing zons. I almost couldn't stop playing (and that after 4 years...). I am afraid WoW will be as "bad"
Anyhow...good to hear from you, powerplay. And good to hear that you will soon be up and running with a new comp. Meanwhile that leaves us to decide on the last player.
Oh..and to finish the day in a good way for me...I have the shiny "S" back :)

Sigh, although I'm not at the very end with my Celeron 1.7 and Geforce 3Ti (I can run Painkiller), Doom 3 will have to wait until I'll switch to XP. Then maybe it will load and bless me with some 3 fps. But I just know I was born to play RPGs, period ;)
Well...there IS a way to run Doom 3 under Win 98 :D
I was very suspicious about Win XP, now that it is on my new PC I am loving it. Its just a great playground..can you say ObjectDock, Rainlender, Wincustomize and Themes, Blinds...... :D

Going places we should all go next time round...like visit all 6 temples in Kurast. Almost forgot that you get Vipers and Scarabs in some of them...and loads of XP even at lv 25 :D (and I was a bad boy and got my book quest).
Got an Act 3 cold merc who is a huge help at Council. And 200 Fire Damage at least makes me feel godly in normal, heheh
Am still lvl 25 =]
I think we said 27, though I doubt I'll make that ;)

As well as the ele amulet :D The game was really lucky, each 2 minutes Aerath said something along "omg". I found about 10 charms in Lower/Bazaar/Upper Kurast, one being 14 life large, another 1-28 lit dmg,22 cold res grand.
Tonight is the night of lightning fury, got to celebrate it somehow ;)
