I've been trying to get this really cool avatar to work but for some reason it gives me the error "The uploaded file is not a valid GIF, JPG, or PNG file."
So my question is...How do I fix this? Is there a simpler way than paint for avatars? I know I should probably know this, but I'm no computer wiz and even the easiest tasks take me a bit of searching around before I get what I want ;)
Thanks in advance!

you should be able to open that picture in mspaint, and saveas .jpg or .gif.
thats the simplest way to get the desired extension.

Argh, ok that worked. BUT, it is no longer moving from snap shot to snap shot like it was on the site. Also, is it possible to make the words bigger or clearer at the bottom? I'm SURE there is some kind of program that makes this much easier isn't there?

Is it suppose to be animated gif? If you want bigger font, make the image bigger. If you want clear font, use pixel fonts. You can do these using Adobe Photoshop.

Yes, the one I want is supposed to be animated, and if I make the image any bigger it doesn't fit. I'll try the adobe photo shop thingy, if I can find it ;)
In that program can you make the words bigger but keep the image the same size?

You can do anything your imagination take you in Photoshop. What you trying to do is kind of hard to explain and complicated for a person who going to start using Photoshop.

Hmmm, I type in Adobe photoshop at google and it politely asks me to pay 600 dollars o_O...
Yep, its a professional programm and it also comes with Image Ready for animated gifs. Well...my avatar is a very basic animation done in Image Ready but there are much more professional works out there. I guess for what I do Photoshop is a bit of an overkill...but I got it in a promotional bundle for a website hosting..so no complaints :)

Hey, student discount is a legitimate way to get software!
I've got 3ds max 3.0 legally that way =p
(Of course that doesn't make the 7.0 copy legal...but meh ^^)
Grab another browser and go 'download image as' -> gif file.
That's the only available file format for avatars that support animations.
There's programs at www.download.com that allow you to do animations as well. I downloaded one ages ago, but that's been taken of the site. I assume there's new ones up there by now.
