View Full Version : lvl 9 sac question
OK out of boredom "AMouseFart" was born. He's as the title says a lvl 9 sacadin. After reading about ed/max being bugged in armor and shields I have this question , I have a Superior Rondache paladin shield ( 60% ed 108 ar ) would it be better to put maxs or ed%s in it?
I also need a critique on my life / dmg so far.
Weapon- civerbs with a 9 max 20 psn dmg +2 dex 11 fire res rare jewel in it
armor - sup eth gothic plate 34 max
deaths gloves and belt
hsarus boots
still trying to find a 3 socket mask and 3 more 8-9 max's
and the forementioned shield with 3 crap 7s in it till i saw MAtts post about the shield , but i can HEL it and start over.
My dmg with lvl 9 sacrifice and lvl 3 might is 660 max without a helm and 3 crap jewels in shield.
My life is another story he only has 200 atm but only has a handful of LCs.
I didnt add to dex but should i have? He is going to PK Kill Andy and sewer games for now.
Any comments or suggestions are strongly welcome
Civerbs does better 1H damage, but clegs just opens up so much potential damage when you get a critical hit and it's a smidge faster. I'd switch.
You've already got the strength for it if you're using gothic plate, but the dex might be hard to swing on a level 9 without a further PA. Still worth it I think.

If you go heavy jewels go clegs. I myself am making a level 13 one and i am going clegs.

I'd go with cleglows as well. rebuilding a lvl 9 character aint too tough, especially if you dont bother with poweracting NM and hell. Shoot me if Im wrong, but it is the ED/max jewels that are bugged and not the ED that comes innate from shield. Also what I find useful is not inserting jewels till you are done, and after that use "perfect" 9 jewels together and the rest together as well, so it will be easier to perfect latter. Block is yes for me, and although rondanche has low block %, it is not hard to achieve max cuz of so low character lvl.
Also a question. What is the best way to get the Act3 Life quest in hell? This is the hardest quest for me to get, even in normal.
Its better to max you shield.
ED/Max jewels are bugged, but paladin shields which have built in ED are, I'm very sure, NOT bugged when socketed with max jewels. If on the other hand ,you were to socket it with ed/max jewels, it WOULD be bugged.

The easiest way is to leech it from town as a pvm player completes the quest solo. Wait for a buddy to quest a guy through hell and snatch it while he does it.
are you bored and do you want something different? make a thrower barbie!

the javs are too annoying to get. Also i dont think they pull out enough dmg.
For some reason I thought Clegs was > lvl 9, not sure why. As for rebuilding to suit for Clegs it would probably take me 30 minutes for lvling and the norm PA i gave him. I think I might just run with him till I get more charms / jewels and then rebuild using a clegs. I ll probably just use charms to make up the dex reqs over a further PA , as trying to scout norm games then switch characters is a pain.
Baranor I was bored with the usual pvm aspect so I finally made a pvp'r. I figured a sacadin would be easy and not require much gear, maybe once I pvp more ill try some other builds.
I still am trying to find a good necro head for my lvl 35 BS necro. so hell probably be my next project.

Stat charms are not very competitive at level 9. You can load up on lvl 9 life charms that grant you 15 life (5 stats), but the same package of 5str or 5dex per large is not available until clvl 13. Better off investing hard points to meet your equipment req's and charming up your life to make up the difference.
I forget what level the 6 stat grands are, I thought they were lvl 10. It's sort of moot, they're only efficient for a barb anyway.

mmmm now, my 13 thrower (well, he's 15 atm, but i'm going to rebuild at 13 cause 15 is too high for my tastes) has had quite a few fights now, and apart from immedeately fluxxing from teleporting necro scum, he managed to win every single fight. He packs about 350 listed PvM dam per throw, and has a 16% chance for a critical. This is with +9's in the mask, +9/8 in the shield, and +8/8/7 in the armor, and a 60 max crap eth selfrepair spear. 26% ED, +3 to max, yessir, C-R-A-P. Since you're this low level, the only thing you need is an ethereal throwing spear and an imbue runner. If you find a 3 player game, you can get the imbuer to level 9 in half an hour by running from town to the outer cloister wp and killing everything you meet. Eth throwing spears can best be found at normal shenk and eld. accidentially both also drop nice lld charms from tine to time.
mine is build as follows:
max dam helmet
max dam mask
max dam armor
angelics
ck boots
deaths sash/gloves
Mspiked of deflect with two maxes (happened to find that instead of a bsod, but it looks cool and is max block too). You'll need 5 dex more for the eth throwing spears, so a single +dex charm will fix that (yielding 20 life in barbarian terms). rest of my charms is life (crap) but that's no issue as I have bout 600 life already because its an all vit build.
but when that 35 nec gets here, he's gonna be a wonder.
randomly, i was able to collect a +2 pnb 20%fc circlet that will get 2 sockets, and a +2 pnb 10% fc ammy. with white, mike's nec is going to roxxor...

You only use one spear? And wouldnt a scintilating or vulpine bsod be better? OR spiked, whichever. Also, you just imbue at level 9 ? Or is there a better level to imbue at.

In serious duels I use a shield, as without it I'd be dead. When I'm out pk-ing or facing a foe that will hurt me wheter or not I use one spear I use two, as its more damage. Then I use normal, shopped throwing spears. For this I have 2 +5 large dex charms in my inventory on top of the single +5.
Yes, vulpine or prismatic is better, but that would require a socket quest and longer searching. I ran into a mechanics of deflecting, so I used that instead. On second thought the only added value of a shield comes from it being prismatic as the thrower uses a normal attack and therefore no mana. If you do double throw you dont use a shield, so you dont need it.
mmm, clvl 9 imbue adds level +5 for imbue is erm, prefixes and suffixes up to rating 13. A level 14 can maximally use a pre/suffix that has a 17 rating on the summits list (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/magic/pre.shtml) so thats
brutal (14) (up to 50% ED)
fine (12) (up to 30% ED)
gore (14) (up to 10 max dam)
icicle(13)
readiness (5)
replenishing (5)
As you can see, an imbue at level 9 has a chance to get all the usefull mods that a level 13 can use. If you go higher, you get more mods that you cannot use and thus do not want (well, if you go 10 or 11 its no biggie, but 12 and you're getting lots of extra unwanted mods).
eth throwing spear= 18-45 dam. Add in 80% ED and +10 to max is 91 max dam on a spear at that level when throwing, and 50.5 max dam when using it as a melee weapon.
but when that 35 nec gets here, he's gonna be a wonder.

Yea I think I will build him later tonight , I only lack a shield that im happy with. I did find a necro head with +2 to decrap and some nice res. Im hoping to find eventually a 2 socket +bonespear + decrep head.
Slightly OT I saw a guy selling his +6 bs wand and he got offered an IST for it, makes me silently wonder what my +8 wouldl fetch.
