My first contest......Rune Hunter contest....

Ok. I've had this in mind for quite sometime now just never put it to ink. Now please keep in mind that this is my first attempt at a contest, so to speek.
I came up with the idea as I was playin and noticed that runes seem to drop pretty regulally ,but I had a hard time reciving a Thul(#10), Hence the contest.

Rulez:
1.)You must play a HC char.
2.)Any build is permitted
3.) Char restarts permitted. Altho No one should Die, unless you just get careless.
4.)You must collect the Runes, IN ORDER, from El - Thul.
Sounds easy huh??
5.)You many only craft 1 rune type once. ie: 3 el's to produce an Eld. You may no longer use El's to run up the Rune ladder. 3 x eld = Tir , No more eld's can be used. You get the Idea.
6.) No re-runnin area's. ie: No countess runes.


Now this is a pretty simple tounrey. It was designed to be so. All of the threads that I've read, ppl seem to be upset with the diffulty of not being able to achieve the goal.
Keeping in mind that you must find them IN ORDER and you cant craft a set of runes but 1 time, I think this will prove more diffecult than most ppl think If it doesnt, O'well, still fun :) Hope some ouf you Runers out there care to par-take in this.

Now for the Prize.
I have, in my possession, a brand new, freashly pulled from the cows arse, Gul Rune. Now this seems like a pretty hefty prize, and it is I think. But since I have 2 of them I would be willing to let 1 go for this. Seems like a noble cause.

Since I'm kinda sweet on Sin's . That's what I'll be playin.
So SynTaxx is born.
lvl 1 No runes , as of yet.

I'd reccommend adding a fixed starting time. If people start staggered, then the it's a serious advantage to those who read the forums 24/7 :p.

Not a bad idea.... shall we say Wensday then.... sure Wensday it is. I'm glad I agreed with myself. 3 days should be enough time for ppl to decide if they want to join or not.

i'd recommend making the act 5 rescue-the-prisoners quest reward not count towards the contest goal, cause that eats up tal, ral, and ort in one quick and easy motion (unless you were going for that amount of quick/easy, that is)

As runes cannot be part of giveaways or runs people do to mf for others (another form of giveaway) I do not think that the Gul rune would be an acceptable prize. I'll let AE field this one, but just a heads up that I believe you'll have to change the prize.

There is not a standerized rule set for contest or give-aways. I'm not MF'in for anyone. I jsut wanted a contest that is going to fun for everyone to play, plus have a reward for doing so. What is the differance of me giving 1 of my Gul's as a prize , vs you giveing a +28 mara's as a prize? Point being : all items/runes found are from one form or another of MF'in.

As it is my contest, I am pretty sure it is I who gets to decide what the prize should be.

Good observation. I agree. Act 5 Q2 is out. The main thread will be updated soon after this .

no seriously bull(r) is right, you cannot give away or trade runes, its just how it is now, just a while ago AE made someone keep hold of an ist rune that dropped while the guy was doing runs for someone.

Trading runes

With the trading of runes, you have a whole bunch of other things to worry about. Runes don’t have a "fingerprint", there is no way to tell if the rune you’re trading for is legit or not. This can be solved by two things really, the simplest being that you choose not to trade any high level runes at all, thus making the whole problem not exist for you. The other option is again to trade only with people you trust.

The runes that are clearly hacks or created with an item editor:

* Ones that state Standard as their version. Runes were introduced into the game in the Expansion pack.
* Runes that have wrong lvl requirement, wrong stats or wrong graphics.

Remember that the abovementioned isn’t a foolproof method on knowing whether something is real or not. There are numerous ways of passing fake runes as legit ones and not all of the methods involve editors, so again, please be careful in your trades

So, As I inturept this, If you want to par-take in this Contest, feel free. You don't have to.

On a very regular basis there will be tournament threads on the front page. These tournaments will list their individual rules, along with prizes for the eventual winner in them. These tournaments are a great way to get involved in the SP community. Just keep watch for when a new one is asking for participants.

I completely agree with you Re-Wired. Of course AE is the boss, so if he deems it bad, I guess that is his choice, but I would say banning this would be waaaaaay overboard. You have nothing to gain, there would be absolutely no reason whatsoever for you to offer a duped rune as a prize in a tournament.

Off point. I can see thinking of a Gul as useless, but if you have two? That's a Vex. That is really useful.

I am fully committed now, or I would get in on this. It sounds like a great idea.

I agree totally. If AE says then he says. Besides you can look in Atma's and see that is says 1.10 expansion on it. I'd post it but I dont want ppl sayin that I just edited it in there.

But, with time to think about it, I'll decide on another prize. I jsut thought a rune as a prize in a rune huntin tounrey would be kool.

As of a couple months ago there are no rune trading or giveaways allowed in the SPF or SPTF. I haven't updated the FAQs yet - I'm sorry about that. The holidays and the rest of real life have been a bit demanding recently.
