OK ... so I caved

I have made myself a Pally (my 3rd or 4th I think but the first ones don't count since I made them as mules) I always hated pallies because they run funny and the sayings are just sooo melodramtic.

It all started with Barry's suggestion that a lvl 18 freezeypop zealer would make a nice pkk.

I made him and leveled him to about 18ish and dressed him in clegs and angelics and max charms/jewels all sorts of pretty lld itamz. Then the unthinkable happened ... he became fun. (OK he beame funNY)

He is now 47, dressed pvm and creating insane havoc in NM with Hig's armageddon bear.

Now ... here come my questions. Due to Annr up and leaving us for WOW *wavies to Annr* I have at my disposal a few nifty weapons to play with on him and the means to trade for others ... if I get the urge. I am unsure what weapon would maximize his funniness and damage at the same time. At the moment he has an amned +2 pally sceptor thingy ... Hand of Blessed light maybe? It looks like a hammer and swings realllly fast which cracks me up and it does huge pvm damage when combined with fanat - 380-950+ ish (too sleepy to log back on and look) I like this hammer thing but I am greedy and wonder if there is something out there that will swing just as fast and deal better damage.

So far his skills are a mess which makes him even funnier to me as I get to cycle through about 12 different auras depending on the situation :D but he is going to have the following (eventually)

20 sacrifice (about 15 now)
20 zeal (also 15ish)
Fanat ... lots (only 5 so far)
Holy Shield ... ummm .... 5-10? (I get it next lvl because I didn't know it was important till kind of late)
Various assorted 1 hit wonder skills mainly because I like the pretty colors and funny noises.

Other Gear is a GA , HOZ, IK gloves- belt- boots, Rockstopper - going to Crown of thieves prolly, raven and dwarf rings and a rare amu - saracens in the wings. I am thinking I can swap out the gloves for dracs the belt for tgods and the boots for gores (some assembly required) but what about the Weapon?

I looked at some of the guides but they mainly are SC in nature and assume the availability of huge runes. I have toys but no runes.

Would a lightsabre be a better call than my sceptor thing? Are my skill goals unfeasable for hc? Is unfeasable a word?

I am really not looking for cookie cutter as that would take most of my fun away but I realize he is pretty much a standard char.

to be completely honest, if you're going to go gore riders, i'd play him rather like a smiter, and use a black ruenword scourge, for FAST attack speed and cb, toss on that bad boy and guillames, and you'll destroy single targets.

the other option, is that you could use ls with ur hoz, and then have black and guillames in stash or on switch for boss killing.

You could use Baranars or Nords or the Griz Caddy...I left all three behind. There is the unique Pally weapon as well but never had one of them. Watch IM big time with a fanatic zealer. You will keep zealing after you are cursed and it will be too late.

Heavens light is the sceptre to shoot for: +2 skills, 33% CB and Targets def -33. Add ED and 30% IAS :) plus it can have 2 sockets.
Guillaumes face, Gores...LOADS of CB (but maybe res issues in hell, thats why I don't wear a GA but a Lionheart. Then again..I have no spare UM atm)

Another nice weapon is Shaeffers Hammer, but it isn't exactly the fastest weapon, though it does enormous damage and casts Static.

I am still having fun so far - no clue what I will do with IM - prolly just stand the casting holy bolt at anything that moves ... party members included :D

I will prolly hold a bow in stash for nm baals and hell diablo ... one guide suggested burrito ... I think I have one somewhere

I just picked up Astreon's Iron Ward(Caduceus) and wondering if this could be a good weapon. I know it's rare since it's the first I seen in my days of playing d2. Sadly I don't think I will make many more chars this ladder so it'll just rot away on a mule. If you feel like swinging it Cy I'd be happy to give it to ya. Just have to tell me if it was any good.

Kill them with your bare cold fists or a Wand of piercing. No IM, no pain

How about a PASSION weapon to 'zerk with? (Thats the one with +1 'Zerk, right?). If no Buriza, then maybe a Widowmaker (grants GA)

Those bastards. Not fair! Not fair! I thought them knights to be fire immune and blood lords are cold immune.

Whatever...if I draw a mixture of Phys and Cold Immunes in WSK (this is with my Windy) I abandon anyhow. Pallys need to suffer the same fate.

So a Passion weapon it should be on switch...or a Buri...or a Kuko..or a Widowmaker...or a barbarian who kills them for you..or a fire sorc..or a...

BTW Cy...I am suffering the same fate as you. Resisted playing Pallys for 4 years now..hated their "holier than thou" attitude. This season I have 4...and one of them even a Guardian. Gogo KTA...

D2 is eeevil avoid it!!!!

I got a couple of new game from my brother for christmas - Rollercoaster tycoon 3 is fun! I build roller coasters and design a theme park - all sorts of things! you have to DL a patch immediately though and your comp needs a serious graphics card.

LOTR Battle for middle earth was the other one. It is ok ... Took me a while to figure it out but now that I have it kind of lost it's draw. You play it kind of like risk - build your encampment and train soldiers then secure the area and defeat the enemy encampment as they do the same. It's ok I guess ... I wanted to be swinging a sword though not just delegating from on high ...

All in all I would recomment Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 very fun!


oh .... Pallie news:

He is 68 and Hig's armageddon bear and I are walking around hell poking into places we really don't belong. Surprisingly enough we are doing pretty well. Walked to outer cloister picking up Cain and Blood Raven along the way then imported the wp for cat 2 since I hate the jails. Andy met with an untimely demise and we hopped over to Act 2 so I could get myself a brand new merc.

We peeked down the trap door and wound up finding Raddy .... after a few fun close calls he went the way of Andy.

I have tested out several different weapons and these are my findings (no surprises)
Lightsabre ... eh ... nope
Hand of Blessed Light ... lovely lovely but we are upgrading
Astereon Caudecus thingy ... Nice indeed and looks like a hammer which is funny
Heaven's light thingy ... OOOOOHHHHHH! Nifty!

Rotor give me a holler on my super secret account (Sumthingclever) You should trade the caudecus for something fun that you can use. It is nice but it just didn't cut it against Heavenly Light deally bopper.

Burrito on switch is absolutely hysterical BTW.

DET - get your pally a buriza the stand outside town facing away from your monitor and shoot it a few times ... with fanat ... I nearly snorted pepsi out of my nose. As I understand it the pelvic thrusting must really help with aiming

I have played Rollercoaster Tycoon and my son has RT2. I enjoyed the first one very much. You can name some guests and then do fun things to them like stick em in a hole and watch their disatisfaction rise. Just as fun to name a guest after yourself and then have the game announcing where you are at different times. It is a fun game and quite challenging in the more advanced parks.

Don't forget books I read a couple over the holidays. There is a new idea.
