View Full Version : Why cant I connect....
Edit#2:
Or not, I still had West highlighted, so they both connected. I'm back to the original problem (and i have to retype this... damn it)
Ok, Basically, it wont let me connect to East, though other realms and the rest of my internet works just fine. Last time I played was 24 hours ago, roughly, and I had NO problems then, at any time.
I dont bot, maphack, dupe, tppk, any of those cheats, my only "hack" is a D2 Loader, which lets me use both my store bought D2 copies without switching users, just saves me a minute when I switch between them.
So, I dont think this would be a muted CD key, because BOTH of them are muted, so it seems HIGHLY unlikely they would mute me for a D2 loader, which I think is purely on my computer, and doesnt even interact with their servers in any way, just lets me have 2 copies installed on my username...
So, I'm really lost as to why this is happening, I've tried restarting my computer and both D2's, any idea whats goin on and how to fix it? (preferably without a re-install)

A muted CD Key would only prohibit you from talking to anyone, or atleast that is my impression that ive gotten from online ppl. There was a large server hic up yesterday afternoon that took west down and I couldnt connect for awhile then even once i could noone could make or join games. Maybe if you were online at that time it took you off , Ive seen failure to connect for large periods of time. I know you dont want to but maybe a fresh install is worth the shot. I know blizz tech support wont help you any you "haxxor" j/k. I use loader as well with 2 store bought copies so if they want to call it cheating blah
Ok Matt... I had same problem.. .*THIS WORKS FOR CABLE MODEM ONLY* Assuming you have it this is the only way I know to fix the problem.
1. Start in diablo and try to connect to east realm. Of course it wont let you in. Just alt+tab out and do these steps.* Dont close d2.*
2. Start
Run:
Type.... ipconfig/release
3. Dont close the Dos Window.*Leave open until Step 4*
4. Unplug Ethernet from Pc Tower.. and wait 30 seconds... then plug back in.
* you can also just turn modem off* and reset that way.
5. After done step 4. go back to dos* window, and Press Tab.. IT should say something about daiblo. Then Press Enter on keyboard. Then close dos* window.
6. Enter diablo and sign on to realm.

I think you just have to keep waiting.
This happens to me on occasion, especially if I go through mules too fast, but rarely bnet just boots me on both comps and I can't connect for hours.
I used to get the cannot connect bs for up to 12 hours at a time till i figured this method. Now Im cant connect for 2 minutes max :D

Argh, unfortunatly, I am using DSL.... I think I'll try reconnecting the DSL (the old fashioned way... pull the plug and jam it back in) and see if that helps.
By the way, anyone got a highish level (actually, anything which can shop me a pike) On SOFTCORE WEST LADDER? I'm making a disposadin to pass the time, hes level 12 right now, but larzku refuses to sell him anything (no other tabs show up, I'm too low a level)
-Matt
Sorry Matt. No help there then. No rememdy I got for DSL. You can try the same procedure. hay, it might work.
*THIS WORKS FOR CABLE MODEM ONLY* - false. It works for all connections with a dynamic IP address. That is, an IP that can change, and is assigned by your ISP.
Follow the steps Kilmin gave you. They will lead you to b.nettage.

Sorry, can only do east nl.
Hmmm... I go to start, run, and type "ipconfig/release", and it says something about "make sure you typed it right", and asks me again, no DOS window.

Are you getting a "realm down" message, or is it freezing up somewhere in the log-in? The "fixes" suggested are ones that deal with realm down. Also, the fact that the run prompt iprelease isn't working may have to do with what operating system you're on.
No, i dont get realm down. It doesnt even get to the log in screen, it just sits at "connecting to fastest server", then says "cannot connect to battle.net" and some longer message, the default one, nothing special... Grrr, this is annoying!

Need a space there, ipconfig /release; after its ipconfig /renew. However, your problem seems a little different than realm down, so that may not help any.

You might also want to type cmd first
Start/run/cmd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
heh dont need the first command. just do ipconfig /release. sorry about the space matt. also didnt think about the renew thing. have never tried it personally.. but might work for you.
Ohhhhh its working again! I left it sitting overnight, and it seems to have fixed itself.... I credit this to my fantastic technical fixing things ability ;)
Thanks a lot for the advice anyways, I do appriciate the help :)

Well next time it happens Matt you know what to do. Save this to a note pad or something so you can hit it up next time your problem occurs.
