THIS QUESTION IS NOT ABOUT FACTS, GEAR, OR HOW-TO ... because frankly no one is gonna tell me something that I don't already know ;)

BUT SERIOUSLY! Since when did winning a duel qualify you as a 'newb'?

So I'm currently having a pretty succesful pvp night, as my 15 pally is 3:0 and I've broughten in 1 set of loot (1 a night is good), as well as assist an unnamed partner in crime in a killing of a chicken user. I'm just finishing lvling my new 40 asn, got most of her gear but she is drastically short on charms and is missing rings. But what the heck! nobody's perfect....i bring her to a duel game.

Some 34 ww barb is running is mouth "everybody vs me" like they usually do, so i politely say "I'm not quite finished yet, but if you're that anxious i'll spar with you a bit". So we hostile and exit town.

This is followed by me (surprisingly) dishing out quite a bit of dmg per hit, followed by an absolutely rude stun locking of the barb. He was caught in stun lock for about 3 seconds and then he fluxed at half life.

HERE IS WHERE I GET CONFUSED

I always thought that a win (or a an implied win) in a duel came from either killing the opponent, or making them flux/run to town. APPARENTLY somebody changed the rules and didn't let me know.

This barb returns and I say "Thank you for the duel," as I do not wish to waste any more time dueling somebody who will leave at half life with an incomplete character. He and what I assume was his 25 kicker friend then preceeded to refer to me as a 'newb'. This is confusing to me as I thought name calling, especially that of this childish term were saved for the losers of the duels...I must have been mislead somewhere.

Can someone please clarify this! Or at least tell me when the rules changed so that the winners of duels now are the newcomers? I t teh confusored

so you should wear:

Cathan's Jewelry
6 jewels war axe (better than cleglaw, cleglaw for noobz)
Twitch (ias make you charge faster)
9 max ring mail
9 max crown (looks better than mask!)
death gloves
sigon's belt
sigon's boots (50 mf! when you loot bodiez you get 50% more loot!!)

*edit*

but seriously azazaz.. maybe you're a hooblarz!

Yup they changed.
Yesterday i was trying to get this lvl 51 druid to duel my lvl 53 barb, he kept calling me newbie because he knew my barb was a wwer.
so i finally convince him to give it a try, he leaves in the middle of my first ww. he rejoin and talks alot of crap about how if didnt use ww he would own me bad.
finally he says: use zerk only i and own you bad!, so i leave and get my other lvl 53 barb, which is a zerker. i make him leave the game 3 times and townrun once. now he start calling me nOOb, and explains how if he had more rejuvs he would own me soooo bad!, i try to xplain to him that even if he had more juvies i wouldnt duel him, it was very clear that his chicken was set at around 40%. gl killing a 4k life druid with chicken at something right below 50%.

So to sum it up, i am a noob for beating him with a ww barb, and i am a noob for doing it with a zerker.
And i am also a nOOb for not wanting to duel a hardhitting chickenuser.

Its kinda like fighting a 2 handed charger with chickenlife at 80% or he just exits at soon as you telekick. at some point either lag, or a personal error will get you killed.

Well.. they arent exactly changed.. Its a shame that majority of duelers use chicken..

Ya apparently you are indeed a noob if you refuse to duel till they land a lucky 1-2 hit KO. Nobody can be as leet fast as they and leave the momment you get the first hit in... You just got pwned it was clear....

/sarcasm

On a off topic question could someone tell me the diferencies between mid lvl barb WWer and mid lvl zerker (ie lvl 5x). I would rather like a char for taking care of those who rejoin with their lvl 80-90 mf sorc/java (sry no pallies :P), but im afraid of their higher cost

That's a zerker then. I don't think you can dish enough damage to hurt them with ww, giving enough time them to exit/chicken.

Playing a tele zerker takes some practice (especially with the timing, when it's time to attack, when retreat). They're very deadly though, I've single hitted a 89 sin and a 94 sork with bo (my barb lvl 53). You'll have trouble of hitting them (because of the level difference), but most char's will be trying to kill you regardless they can't even touch you, and your time will come :).

WW > zerk in bvb, but doesn't really help, since you won't get any ears.

Where have you been? Win lose or draw you are the biggest noob on battlenet...eish.

Unless you're a leaper or charger or pack some serious WW heat...expect them to continue. Until you rip their screaming head from their shoulders and mount it on a pike

Another note on the differences:

With WW you will have very little skill ed, so +ed jewels in armor/helm/shield will usually net you more average damage especially with a 2-h weapon. With Zerk you have crazy amounts of skill ed, so +max jewels net you far more damage.

That's untrue.

30% ed jool > 15 max on a mid lvl zerker (eg. lvl 53 with ethe ks).

Ok... lvl 53 Zerker:

Eth Kingslayer BB: 230% gets about 80-370 dmg, 270% gets about 85-420 dmg. We'll assume 270% just to be conservative in your favor.

Arreat's and +3 Combat Skills ammy = +2 all skills, +5 Combat.

Max Zerk (lvl 28) and 10 in Shout = +665%ed.

1 in Combat Masteries = 43%ed

175 str for sword = 175%ed.

Total effective off-weapon ed = 883%

No jewels:
min dmg = 85 * (100 + 883)/100 = 835.55
max dmg = 420 * (100 + 883)/100 = 4128.6
avg dmg = 2482

One +30%ed jewel gives:
min dmg = 85 * (100 + 883 + 30)/100 = 861.05
max dmg = 420 * (100 + 883 + 30)/100 = 4254.6
avg dmg = 2558, an increase of 106 dmg.

One +15max jewel gives:
min dmg = 835.55
max dmg = (420 + 15) * (100 + 883)/100 = 4276.05
avg dmg = 2556, only 2 pts less than with the 30%ed jewel.

Now let's try the 230%.

No jewels:
min dmg = 786.4
max dmg = 3637.1
avg dmg = 2212

30%ed jewel:
min dmg = 810.4
max dmg = 3748.1
avg dmg = 2279, an increase of only 67 dmg.

15max jewel:
min dmg = 786.4
max dmg = 3784.55
avg dmg = 2285, 6 pts higher.

As you can see, it depends on the %ed roll of the sword, but on average the +max jewel is better for average damage. Furthermore, high max dmg is more important than average dmg in HC where you need to get through people's chicken hack.

Also, you must consider that you cannot get more than 30%ed on a jewel at that level, but it's not very hard to get more than +15 max (can get up to +30).

So, in short, thanks for wasting my time.
