View Full Version : [LF/PJ Javazon] Um - socket in Stormshield or buy better Titan's?
Yeah, I just got an Um from the hellforge quest (which I managed to do alone - "Sometimes I even amaze myself" :xgrin: ), and I dunno whenether to socket Um in my Stormshield (I have HORRIBLE resists in hell), or to socket a perfect diamond in my Stormshield and buy a better Titan's revenge (mine is soooo low and non-eth) - I could get a high ed non-eth Titan's for Um, couldn't I?
So what should I do?

no, you couldn't get a high end eth titan for um. All of ur LF damage comes from lighting so the physical damage doesn't matter as much. Eth titans are for people who have plenty of runes to spend. So in this case a um in ur ss would be better.
But I also use Jab and PJ quite a lot, and also LF's first hit (and 2nd, 3rd etc. hits if a successful pierce roll is made) does damage depending on the weapon. Also, READ MY POST AGAIN. I was talking about a high end NON-eth Titan. I know that a high end eth Titan can be Vex or more, but Um could get me a good NON-eth one, eh?
Hahaha I'd take the Um and get 2xPlain Java GCs!
2 spear&javelin skillers for ONE Um? I though 1 skiller = 1 Um, not 0,5 Um :xeek:
I have never understood the fascination of putting ums in shields. Pdiamond =19 res all. Um = 22 res all. Um is worth 80+ pdiamonds, if you could trade for it at all with pgems. The additional 3% resists in my mind is not that significant and is easily made up with charms and other gear. 3%!!!!!!!!!!!
Take that um and spend it on something else. Personally, I wouldn't use it for a little extra ed on titans, but if you are lacking in phys damage for your jab and think its worth it, go ahead. The jav Grand Charms aren't a bad idea either, and neither is upgrading your helm, armor, boots, gloves, amulet, rings, belt, charms, merc gear, or other characters. I would think that ANY of those options are better than getting an additional 3% resist all.
Just my humble opinion.
You have to get in a certain mindset to use Um in a shield. In that mindset, you want a perfect character. Every inventory space is precious. Each charm in it costs more than Um anyway, possibily Ist or a high rune even. Every jewel you socket in stuff is perfect. All pieces of equipment have maximum stats. When a character like this can easily cost upwards of 20 Ists, so why quibble over a stupid Um?
That's like saying you should use a flawless diamond instead of a perfect one. Hey, it's cheaper, isn't it? And you only lose 5 resist all....
If i were you i would trade the um for near perf 4 javs skills 190% ed+ thunderstrokes. Dont they works better for lightning fury? Pdiamond your ss and there you go.

T-strokes will probably give higher damage, but they're ANNOYING. They don't regenerate, you get what, 80, and you end up paying 5-10k gold to replenish them every 15 minutes. Not fun.

With all of those perfect charms, it still shouldn't be that difficult to come up with the lacking 3 resists. And I take it from the poster's comments that the 20 ist build isn't really what he's going for. But hey, if you want to put an um in your sheild, you are perfectly free to do so. Mine, however, will sparkle :xsmile4:
