Well, thanks to general boredom with my characters, I've decided to build a slightly different character, a bowazon based around "procing" (chance to cast on striking) as many spells as possible! I've searched Arreat Summit a couple of times for any item with "chance to cast on striking", and these r the "procing" gear choices I've come up with

Bow: Upped Witchwild Sting - this gives a 2% chance to cast Lvl 5 Amp Damage on striking as well as being a very nice allround bow

Alternatives: Goldstike Arch for it's 5% Fist of the Heavens

Gloves: Hellmouth War Gauntlets - gives 4% chance Lvl 12 Firestorm AND 2% chance of Lvl 4 Meteor

Alternatives: Lava Gouts for the 2% chance Lvl 10 Enchant (plus a nice 20%IAS), Dracul's for the 5% chance Lvl 10 Life Tap (whole heap of life leech on these), Soul Drainers for the 8% chance Lvl 3 Weaken (nice dual leech here)

Rings: Carrion Wind ring for it's 8% chance Lvl 13 Twister (and a nice amount of life leech and poison resist as a bonus) also Wisp Projector for it's 10% chance of Lvl 16 Lightning (now I just need to get one  )

Amulets: Atma's Scarab gives a 5% chance of Lvl 2 Amp Damage (but Witchy already gives us Amp). Also worth mentioning are amulets with chance to make monsters flee, which while it isn't exactly procing a spell is similar to casting terror.

The rest of the gear will be devoted to increasing my number of hits thru IAS and AR, unless anybody can suggest any other "procing" gear I might use.

As far as skills go, I'm trying a Pure Strafe with Valk approach, so

20 Strafe
20 Penetrate
20 Pierce
20 Valk

1 in all pre-reqs plus D/A/E then everything else in either Guided or Multi

Curently she's at the end of Nightmare, and looks quite impressive once she starts firing off a stream of Firestorms/Twisters/Meteors.

So any suggestions on other gear options? Comments on the build? Free Delerium runewords?

You may want to use items that give chargies of synergy skills. This could greatly increase your damage using say double wisp rings.

For your glove, definitely don't go with Lava gout. Use a Dlimb to prebuff enchant and go with Hellmouth. When I get bored of my Laying of Hands(Which you may want to consider for CTC Holy Bolt/ 20%ias/ HUGE fire resist, these are really nice.) I switch to Hellmouth just for fun.

I'd get a Razortail and skip the pierce points.

I would look for a nice rare ammy, I'm sure you hadn't thought of that :xrollseye , or I'd highly recommend Highlord's. And get a merc with a Reaper's Toll and Delirium.

Rane : Not quite sure what u mean by this. What synergy skills?

Wmeredith : Nice idea with the Dlimb thanx. Laying of hands are a must for any physical damage char for boss battles as far as I'm concerned, so I always have a pair in my stash at least. I have a Nosferatu's Coil, so I'm using that over Razortail, and I have nowhere else I really need to put the points. Highlords is something I've beeen considering, but it's hard to give up the resists I can get from a good rare/crafted ammy!

The charge synergy bug works with ctc items so you can use charges on items to give synergy to your ctc's.

For example, the hellmouth has slvl 12 ctc firestorm, at slvl 12 firestorm does 51-59 fire damage per second. now just for stupidity sake lets throw on a stone armor. The firestorm now deals 241-279 fire damage per second.

There are more combos out there bonehew/marrowwalks for example (476-503 damage, ring charges of teeth/bone spirit bring this up further to 648-684), or ctc chain lightning with a slvl 7 lightning charges on a ring for 1-149 instead of 1-117 damage per strike.

Crafted items make proc builds work though 5% slvl 8 frost nova from recipe +14% slvl 5 frost nova from suffix = 19% slvl 8 frost nova. :xsmile:

Using crafted items you can get this combo on one item 5% ctc frost nova, charges of blizzard. Any skill that is a synergy of another works to increase your proc damage.

I can get a sorc to have huge damage skills from proc items. earthshifter, stone, hell mouth gives a 1500 fissure ctc and a 1000 firestorm 3x for 3 streams. and that sorc only uses 20 skill points. As I said other choices exist it just takes looking into them.

MetalDemoness: Thanx for the link, there's somebody taking this idea much more seriously than me, lol. I was just using proccing 'cause it looks cool!

Uzziah: Cool, I knew of the synergy bug, but wasn't aware it worked with ctc skills, good to know.

This is char is kind of taking a backseat with me at the moment, as (like everybody else no doubt) I 'm a bit caught up in the new runewords atm.

I would highly suggest putting "Brand" on this Bowazon.

I would highly suggest putting "Brand" on this Bowazon.

And Marrowwalks too. ;)

Wow, just looked at Brand. 100% chance of lvl 18 bonespear? That's just ****ing ridiculous. With Marrows lvl 33 synergies that's 556-589 magic damage by my reckoning, bye-bye physical immunes. And with high EDam, knockback, Prevent Monster heal, AR bonus, Deadly Strike. Only downside is the lack of IAS. I'd still say it's better than Faith for a Strafe Bowazon though. Easily cast more 'spears than a bone necro!
