View Full Version : My magezon needs ur input
Hi folks. I've been away from D2 since 1.09. When I last played, I had a nice team of characters and I'm back to the magezon build because I liked it so much. I've been out of the loop for a bit, so I'm still trying to grasp all the changes. I have a few questions that I could use some help with.
-My zon is level 27 right now. I currently have her equipped with 3 Arctic items and thats the best I can do for gear so far. Between now and level 40, what bows, armor, etc.. should I be looking for to make the levelling process easier?
-I have a razortail in storage for her. Does this belt still supplement the 11 or so points I'd have to invest in Pierce to max like it did in 1.09?
-Lastly, which 3rd skill is a good investment for my build after freezing arrow and immolation? I was thinking guided arrow with max pierce, valkyrie for a meat shield, or strafe.
Thanks for any help and happy gaming. Feels good to be back.

Try getting synergies for either or both freezing arrow and immo arrow. 1.10 makes it more difficult to create a dual element character, but it is still possible; a good setup might be maxed freezing and immo, 10 into each damage synergy (forget which), 1 point in pierce, and rest in valk. Valk is vastly improved in 1.10 as well.

razortail needs 10 points in pierce for max and 9 for 98 % (i think) .. and yeah i have a strafe/freezing zon and razortail+freezing = blue screen so id definaitely recommend it, ull probably want so cold damage modiefiers for added duration
also, use the cold arrow synergy, the ice arrow one isnt worth it
finally for ur 3rd skill, dont do guided it doesnt pierce anymore strafe could be good, for around 3 base points (and then some plus skills) you could get the max 10 arrows
Do you play in parties or solo? If solo you should have a crowd control skill, multi or strafe. When soloing at higher levels in 1.10 you can get you overwelmed by multiple boss packs if you are using "single shot" bow skills. I recomend at least 5 points into strafe, this will give you enough arrows and with +skills enough damage to leach back the mana you burn with your elemental skills.
Valk is great now, 17 points hits her sweet spot, but less points still work.
Since you are already at 27 go for a Skystrike, then Kuko and finish with Lyc's Aim.

fire and and cold charms work with splash dmg as wel as with your bow dmg. therefor a 20 fire dmg will add 40 to your total dmg (20 slash and 20 on the arrow) cold charms work the same way but even better since the cold duration from of weapon adds up with freezing arrow. I also think all of weapon fire or cold dmg adds up with the splash dmg but i'm not sure. if someone can confirm this...
anyway using charms is a better way than wasting skillponts in ice arrow.
I also have a related question, namely: does an immo or freezing arrow always hit or just the splash dmg?
I haven't been able to tell using my zon since I'm only in begin NM and still have 80% chance to hit and if it does i'll use some CB to help out.

I believe the elemental damage always hits, but the arrow may or may not, depending on your attack rating. It's really only important for leech or immunes, but you shouldn't have too many immune problems as a dual-element.
