View Full Version : ladder season 2 does anyone still care??
After reading the front page article about the end of season 2 makes me wonder. Do any of you look forward to another ladder season? Honestly I really dont. It takes me awhile to amass what I need to build the chars I want and I have no desire at all to run the ladder. Sorry but endless baal runs bores me to death and that is the only way you can compete.
Secondly does anyone care about the supposed 23 new runewords that are out there but not known? I for one dont have the runes to waste trying a runeword out that I prolly wouldnt even use even if it did work
Maybe I should have asked if anyone thinks there will be a season 3 or a bug fix or a release of a couple new runewords or
The other popular email question is from people who remember an announcement a few months ago, when Blizzard said they had some D2 surprises yet to come. There's been no further word on that, and it might have just been an idle comment to keep our hopes alive, but we can be optimistic and hope they were referring to future bug fixes, or Season 3, or perhaps some more ladder-only uniques/runewords. As always, time will tell.

Hm..I was asking myself if I care..but I still have several characters that I like to play and advance. At the same time I am looking forward to a ladder reset and start from scratch. Until that I have my KTA group to play with twice a week.
However i find that I more and more are content to play on these occasions only.
Maybe new items/runewords/spells/classes/graphics would invigorate everybodies interrest :)

I doubt if the new season will start soon - the "new" runewords haven't been announced yet, and in the "Race to 99" contest period rules, Blizz mentions december 2005. Of course this is in case there's no lvl 99 until this time, but I doubt they are even thinking now about the new ladder. For me personally, it's a bit too soon...Hardcore players tend to die sometimes, and not everyone has time to play every day, so...
For me bnet is still quite interesting, although I avoid public games, tend to solo a lot, or play in a friendly team.

I for one DON'T give a Pingeon's behind if there's a "3rd season"...
I have given up (actually I forgot all about them) on the supposedly 23 friggin rune words... which for the most part - would prob be craptastic ne way... like several of the NEW uniques when 1.10 was released.
The only way a Season 3 would really attract me would be if they fix most if not all the problems but I dont see that happening.
I would be playing a lot even right now if public games were not just a coin toss on if you will get trigged or not!
I will go out on a limb and garuntee there will be no reset at 1-1-05 simply due to WoW, they dont want to draw people away from thier $15/mth cashing in by giving people something free to do!

Uniques and runewords are broken. Everyone pretty much still wears the same items and the much awaited "uber-rares" are few and far between. People still laugh when they scan my Tal's sorc and see me wearing resists/mana/mf rare boots instead of War Trav's etc.
There was a list of class specific crafted items like armor, shields, weapons, etc which, if implemented, would have been a great improvement over the current system in my opinion. They should also make a class of rares with only good mods, skills, resists, mf, etc that can drop. How many rares do you have that are rendered useless by a couple of crappy mods?
Runewords could work if not for duping. I remember being proud of my HOTO that I made from doing hellforges but what's the point when you can buy your Enigma right off EBay.

Even if blizz chose to "reset" this ladder - those who have gone / or planning to go into WoW, have already chosen to pay2play.... and new features wouldn't even be an issue... since it's basically a regurgitation of what's already been done.... u can only do so many runs / mf - till it looses its taste again.
WoW & the proposed April release of GW will have others tangled into those new worlds.

I almost proud that I actually made a HOTO myself through rune upgrades / trades / forges.... even though it a Fabulous THIRTY rez... it's still my personal HOTO... and no1 can take that fact away.

Sooo... it sounds like everyone in this thread is saying the same thing I've been thinking. Unfortunately this game appears to be entering the final stages of it's death throes? :xx:
I for one, definately don't care about any new ladder. I already sent my passwords to a friend for this ladder's accounts. I haven't logged onto D2 since I loaded WoW on my computer. The game is awesome and despite the monthly cost involved, there is no way I'm going to play D2 on a regular basis ever again. If I did, it would only be to say "hi" to friends the same as I hang around lurking in these forums yet.

There are a few more. Although I also want to play WoW. Think about it this way, how many people have played D2 since release? Quite a few are still around. How long do you think people will play WoW or any other "more complex" game? Not that long I bet, except the ones who get "stuck". I have a feeling that the beauty and simplicity of D2 will bring quite a few people back after rummaging through the WoW maps for a while. Just a thought, I might be way off here. Still I can't help to feel that even though I have been eagerly awaiting the WoW release for a long time, I am still more interested in seeing D3 up on the "current projects" part of blizzard.com.
To conclude, I don't think D2 will die before D3 is out, which will take some time...

New ladder season without any maphacking, dupes, chicken..all that crap....Lovely.
I'd start playing again.....Maybe if they balanced it for Pvp this time around
I have about 3-4 char started to finish over time maybe and then I am done...I have enjoyed the game and, more so the people I have met playing and here, but when it comes down to it it is a huge gaping time sucking vortex

Not that I mind that much, as I ordered WoW a week ago. Couldn't resist. And once I put a games CD into my computer, it doesn't like being ejected...
@Zhidkoe, I have a feeling that WoW might just take ppl's addiction away from Diablo especially because you'll want to get your money's worth each month! And that's just from reading the sites etc.

In a few short days I will be quiting the game anyway and the only thing that could really draw me back to playing is along the lines of what nightshade is talking about. With all the hacking and cheating and whatnot, the game, to me is just getting a character to level 70 then baaling till you can't baal no more. Even though I gave this up a while ago and moved over to the pking/dueling area, even this is ruined because I find that I cannot duel anyone who doesn't use chicken or maphack.
I'm not really interested in this season right now because all I am doing is just killing off my characters in stupid duels and dumping my mules to all who ask. So there is no real concern for life/death in this game anymore.

I'll duel you! That's what I have been doing in the last 3 weeks - building 4 duelers to last until I get WoW. 2.5/4 so far.

@ Cleglaw: I would take you up on that man, but the only character I have at the moment is my 92 sin, which has 2 92 ears who is really just reserved for dueling 90+ chars and pking in baals. I have a naked 84 zerker barb who I guess I could deck out if you would be interested in dueling then I'll go ahead with that.

True, I am looking forward to WoW as well, you never know what blizzard will throw at you, might be the greatest...

Exactly, I went to WoW and won't come back to d2, free or not. PVPing is so much more fun over there, and will hopefully be a lot better when the battlegrounds/honor system comes out. Plus the grind is nowhere as boring as d2.

Kinda lookin forward to ladder season 3 so i can be somewhat equal with all the other players and i have a shot of getting on the ladder. I started too late this season and im wayyy behind and wayyy poor so i wouldnt mind ladder season 3...that is if it does come out :xman:

IF they were to fix TPPK for season 3 I'd probably care, otherwise it's no big deal, people will have their botted TPPKers out hunting in less than a month =/
Since I don't expect TPPK to be fixed for season 3 (it wasn't for season 2, so why would it be?) season 3 isn't something for me to get excited about.

Yes it is pretty pathetic begging for items...very lame...
I'll have a look through the mules but don't get your hopes up because my friends have gone through them and taken almost everything but I may have one still lying around.
i for one am really wanting a ladder reset...i have almost everything i need/want...and it tends to start to get boring when that happens....thus the reason why i ust started delving into hardcore....since i have been playing "sissy core" its a fresh start.
As for the new runewords....they had better start giving hints soon, or at least giving out a couple, since there probably isnt too many people left looking for them (kudo's to cherokee BTW for his valient efforts).
But in all honesty....Bliz doenst give a RATS behind about D2 players...they gave us the patch and that was probably about all there going to do for us....because of course they want the moolah from WoW.(which is another topic of discussion about their greedy little paws)
I for one am not going to buy another blizzard game on that grounds...i would rather buy GuildWars, which was made by GFraziers new company(i believe). But yea this has gone off topic so im gonna quit while im ahead.
2 seasons is enough for me ive migrated to WoW, d2 just isn't interesting now

I for one still like to play d2 alot but i dont feel like starting from scratch again so i hope the reset isnt anytime soon(last time i hoped the reset was fast and it took ages so this time reset prolly comes fast O_o )
I don't want another ladder season because I've had a lot of troublem building a single character due to many reasons, one of them being having not much time to play. I never cared about ladder becuase it has been owned by cheaters all along. While I would strive to get my characters alive map hackers would clean endless cow runs with a map hacked exp shrine, getting 50% more experience over the whole accelerated run, wich was only possible due to hacks and duped gear. That for classic and in previous patches of course.
Now for 1.10 cheaters are still owning the ladder, both in classic (#1 in West is a well known cheater, the former #1 in East was too, but I don't know many peeps in classic anymore) and LoD, being that the LoD ladder has already been won by the cheaters, as they already reached lvl 99. Still, the massive use of cheats makes people who use them get much more experience. Also, as some of them don't need to MF (as they use bots) they can exp all the time they are on, so it's even more impossible to compete with them. I and my friends were having a lot of trouble for the whole first month, cos we didn't have much stuff and monsters were harder. While we strived to survive, peeps in classic were already lvl 90 in the first week doing mh CS runs and in the LoD trade channels I already saw some people posting about Zods, Chams, Tal's parts, all available for purchase via paypal! Also finding Uber Diablo was even harder for they were using enhanced bots to create multiple games, wich cause extremely long lines for creating games. I can not even imagine how many anni charms the cheaters farmed that way.
I don't want a new ladder simply for one can play the game from scratch if he/she finds it funny, others don't want to stop using the good stuff they found the hard way and finaly everyone has access to all the rune words* right now. I also don't want to get owned in ladder once again by cheaters. If they don't stop the cheats that are (and have always been) spread all around the servers I don't see a point in a new ladder race.
The poor realm conditions have driven many good friends away, mostly the legit ones. Instead of playing the game in my free time I end up posting sarcastic messages in bnet forums regarding the realm conditions. The last one was about Blizzard's latest stupid idea: asking players to find 23 new runewords when there are thousands, or maybe millions of possible combinations including runes, number of sockets and item types. Of course only dupers will have conditions to stand such a thing.
