I'm pretty new to the game, and I need some advice on a build. I already have a level 70 frost zelot who has just entered hell, and I find the cold immunes to be quite annyoing, so I am attempting to make a dual aura zelot. Teslafroster zelot I think its called. Since I'm so new to the game, keep in mind that I have crap for items. (if you seen what was on my frosty, you would most likely laugh, but I solo'd him all the way to hell without much difficulty)

My new char has this for skill points

1 sacrafice
4 zeal
10 resist cold
7 holy freeze
1 holy shock
2 resist lightning.

What I plan end char

1 sac
4 zeal
20 res cold
20 holy freeze
20 holy shock
20 res lightning.

After this (if I make it that far) I get kind of confused. Should I put points into holy shield, or in salvation. Also, what about my ar? I know that points in Dex will help with this, but man thats gonna take alot away from my life.
Or, should I go with another build? I have tried a couple other classes, but I really do love the zelot. It fits my style moreso than any other character in any game I have ever played, (I've played many) and I would like to continue. I was considering this build because if monsters are immune to one, I can switch. What are your thoughts?
Any help will be appreciated.

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm a newbie. (Wonders why this is considered such a bad thing)

With the Elemental Zealot build you will typically have enough +skills to boost ALL of your skills to a good level. I added Holy Shield to my Frost Zealot around clvl 89. He has enough for max block without Holy Shield...

Since I like to play for power, I went for as much damage as I could...and left 1 point in Holy Shield. With +skills and Battle Command it gets cast at lvl 16. This results in a hearty defensive boost and a powerful offense.

I had a similar dilemna when I was confronted with the choice to max either Holy Shield or Sacrifice, and I chose the latter to boost my offensive capabilities. My theory is the best defense is a good offense.

Looks perfectly sensible to me. I'd put the rest into shield. Or if you really hate immunities you could try a vengeance pally.

Not really necessary to do this. With +skills he is very easily going to acheive lvl 15 Holy Shield. Since you are building a "Teslafroster" your build is going to have the capability of dealing Cold Damage, Light. Damage and Physical Damage. If you maxed Zeal and add points into Sacrifice for the synergy you should equip a high level of Crushing Blow...

It is very rare that you will encounter a CI/LI/PI monster...and since you will have enough SLOW from Holy Freeze your defense is not too much of an issue. If you cannot dodge a monster traveling 58% slower, you have bigger problems than low defense.

My lvl 91 Frost Zealot does just fine...even against PI/CI's. This is because my merc casts decrepify on them. As we all know, curses like this make travelling through Hell a lot easier. Use crushing blow...don't worry about Holy Shield. I made it to lvl 90 without it...I only added it at lvl 91 (not 89).

FREEZE! + CB + alt LIGHT! ATTACK + ITD = YOU WIN!

Unless you plan on entering into any PvP competitions, you will survive just fine without maxing Holy Shield.

Ok. Thanks all for the info. One more question that I have is this. Is there some place that I can find out what mercs have what auras? I have seen alot of talk of this, but have yet seen a site on it.
thanks again

Being a noob isn't such a bad thing.

I would recommend 1 point in Holy Shield, and your build looks viable as far as I can tell...

Information about mercenary auras can be found here (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/basics/hirelings.shtml).
