We've done it. After our first little taste last week we ventured into hell yesterday with a team of seven.
And we rocked. We rescued Cain without much trouble, we wiped our behinds with the countess, we kept grooving to the outer cloister WP and then went back for the Pits.....
And then tragedy struck.
2 boss packs
one FE/LE the other with FANA (and some other mods probably) got him before any of us knew what hit him. Panic all over, people TP-ing to town. Sorc fluxing, mercs and minions dying in the blink of an eye and before we knew it everyone was standing in town.....
Except our barb.
He died right smack in the middle of both packs. We regrouped, went back in. And slowly with some heavy full juv pumping action we overcame both bosspacks and got loot. And all that without BO.
Well, after a few moments of gathering loot and deciding what to do we continued further into andariels lair.
Waxed the smith on our way down, kept killing stuff as if we were still in nightmare instead of hell when suddenly....
Chiller dropped in with her barb. REJOICE! We have BO again and a great tank to boot. We were seven again.
Aaaah, Lut Gholein... (again)
Almost quitting time but not before we went down the sewers to get our hard earned skill point after which we call it a night.
Time to get ready. Duriel is up next. TIME TO DIE!
Auch, bad loss... rip to the barb :( Who played him?
Always very hard to be the meatshield up front in an untwinked party, but great going so far with the whole team :)
Can't help smiling when I see that the 3 top threads in this forum is about KTA-teams :lol:

It was sooo damn scary in the Pit :xeek: I'm glad we went back to loot our unfortunate barbarian, although his spirit said it wasn't worth it...
Yesterday was the first time I ever saw a crow nest bosspack! I even made a screenie.

At lvl76 he at least had some deeds to remember :)

Of all people to die it has to be one of the high life chars.
Some heavy full purple usage down there. Unfortunately I was in town most of the time as my parents were bringing Santa Claus gifts to my kids. But I was there for the looting and witnessed the nice teamplay. Split up the packs and deal with them one by one.
It seems like Syxx is rebuilding and I certainly can help out tonight if help is wanted/needed.

You can say we lost a team member in a "Pit Stop".....:teeth:
The problem was that the bosspack in pits lvl.2 where archers... arrows everywhere.. run away, run away.... :scared:
Find of the day must be Wizzy, and for me a 40% ed jewel. :thumbsup:
Looks like santa is early this year..:xman:

Wooah - I ambled around in the pit last night after the game for something to do - maybe wouldn't have bothered if I had been there for that!
Mind you it's usually Howl, warcry when I go down, so mostly everything around is fleeing for it :thumbsup:
Maybe will find somewhere less dangerous to level!

EDIT I did a rare sword (Elite version of Short Sword) with 307ED - makes my level 6 Zerk do around 2K damage :xirish:

Yes, what a buzz last nights adventuring was. Up until the Pit, the team was pretty much creaming everything we came across.
Once I arrived in the Pit, things got very hot, very quickly. Visually I lost track of what was happening, with the Sins traps hosing Lightening, and Froozen Orbs flying around. The was a spectrum of auras showing, most were our helpful ones like Battle Order, Shout, Oak, various Merc auras and Conviction on the monsters. I didn't pick up on the monsters Fanatisms immediately.
As usual I was near the front with the Bear spanning warcries. Yes, Chiller I probably should have been howling only I didn't pickup that I was wasting my time as there was so much happening on the screen. Due to the short range of warcry, and the monster being Black Archers, they were standing out of the range or my warcries and not getting stunned.
Amongst all this confussion I lost 2.9k life in the twinkling of an eye. My deeds stated I died to a Black Archer, and I'm not sure a single arrow would take all my life away. I probably received multiple hits simultaneous, and by the time I rejurved, it was too late.
I must admit I did enjoy watching the looting fight, from my ring side seat in Barb heaven. Arrows were flying everywhere, and everyone in party kept moving so as not to get turned into a pin cushion. I watched the parties life bottles jump from full to nearly empty (after bing hit by arrows) and back again to full again (after some fast rejurving). Finally the Fanatism boss was killed, then the CE boss died and everyone turned blue. Great battle peoples. I am very glad no one died retrieving my very mediocre gear.
Yes, KTAMuscles-II is born. Tonight I don't think I'll have much time for D, and Wednesday you'll be sorting out Act 2 ....
Hehe, I think I'm the KTA'er who has died the most. I know I was the 1st death, when I lost my Necro in KTA 1.0 to Hell Vipers going after Nik ... then a Jabbazon in KTA 3.0? in Hell Act2 and the "3 boss packs on speed" ... and now my Singer in KTA 8.0.
On the plus I have also had a couple KTA Guardians, including a ThrowBarb and a HydraSorc.
Anyway thanks all for a fun evening. I hope Chiller can help you all out on Wednesday in the BO department.

I still can't believe none of us remembered about cloak of shadows, which will simply stop the archers shooting...

Aaargh..couldn't make it all day today...too much end of year paperwork and tax office also wants money. And frentic workshedule on Wednesday, which..to top it of...is my wedding day. :love:
But no worries, with kids, dogs and cats we are not going out anyhow. And my wife is a fantastic sport also, so I should be there on time. Will be making it up on the weekend, I guess. :love:

Umm, bad news with my version II singer barb ... I got pk'ed last night on my 3rd public Baal run in Normal by a sneaky necro. Sneaky cos he had skellies so I assumed he was a Skellimancer .... turned out he was a Bonemancer in disguised as you can see from the bonespears sticking in my back.
I feel abused too, cos not only did he kill me, he was 'wearing' my BO and Shout at the time ! :D
That'll teach me for trying to rush a character up to you guys in public games.
I don't think I have the patience to build another Singer at the moment, I hope Chiller can take you all through the rest of Hell.
Even though I've lost so many HC characters, it doesn't put me off this game. I recently visited the Amazon Basin, and have now found a build that I am very interested in trying. Either a Daggerzon or a Tankazon, depending on what sort of weapons I can find.
Since my only other character is a level 24 Necro and I have no mules, I was wondering if you guys might have some, basic items you don't need. My zon is rather item dependant and I could use abit of a hand.
The sort I stuff I loooking for is ...
Hsaru's Boots / Belt
Signon's Boots / Gloves
Deaths Set Gloves/ Belt
Ravenfrost ring
Hand of Broc Gloves
Cathan's Ring
Any sort of Dagger, half decent sword, would also be appreciated. I know most of these items are relatively easy found, and I'm looking for them ... but I'm hoping to test out this build before KTA 9.0 starts, to see if a tanking Zon will be a viable build.

I have a lot of Sigon stuff, and also something else (maybe Bloodfists?) I had a lot of fun with my tankzon last season, build her with an Ironpelt and 3 SOL helm, Ammy of life everlasting. Only Extra strong bosses could take a few HP's off her, she was basically immune. I should have a SoE once you are lv 29, if you want one..and maybe a Maul. (Have an eth bonesnap but that won't really help I guess)
Anyhow..see you online :)

But I wonder - why not use your necro in KTA? Level 24 already - maybe it's worth to catch him up for the final chapters of our 8.0?

Terminally retired...He was with the last remaining members of KTA 7.0 and he died. Had a Full Trangs waiting for him..and Marrows...AoKL...you name it. My living retired Necros are all from the last Ladder season....

Okee, so whoever wanted trangs shield - let me know before I sell it.
Yesterday night with Chiller and Aerath we were wondering again where's the tal's mask - it's extremely useful, so it would be good if we locate it. The same goes fot tgods. We did few maphs/baals, but nothing useful dropped - apart from 7mf sc :xgift:

Actually, that isn't too far from the truth. There is a mod called Hell Unleashed, which is intended to play very similarly to the way KTA plays (focus is on playing through and clearing areas, and as a result doing all quests, to get strong enough to deal with the greatly boosted bosses at the end.) That's where I've been all this time. The thing is though, some of the monsters do so much damage that hc could be... unpleasent, though it might be doable in a team... *hint* *hint*

Hi All,
Just prior to KTA 8.0 taking on the denizens of Act 2 Hell, I met up with them and all I can say is christmas came early for my newly created Tankazon.
You were all very generous, and I thank you very much.
I am now decked out with ...
Sigons, Gloves, Boots, Belt and Shield (nice set bonus 10ll and 100 to defense)
A rare Circlet (2 resis and extra Fire Dam)
Nokizon Aumlet (Fire resis, FHR and extra Fire Dam)
Twitch Armour
Cathans Ring
With this equipment at level 22 I am now able to start working my way through Act 4. I still need to play carefully becuase if I get surrounded, I end up constantly in hit recovery and can't hit back. The solution is to go into action side by side with my merc. I can't wait til level 24 and decoy, and level 30 and a Valkyra. These will greatly reduce the chances of getting 'locked up'.
So far it seems a Tankazon is a viable build. Even before I upgraded my equipment, with points in Critical Strike, Dodge, Evade and Avoid, I was able to tank very well. More than a few Barbs, Pally's and Druids were surprised to see a Zon bashing away with a flail next to them in the front line.
However the real test as always in when you start in Hell.
So for KTA 9.0, I think I'd like to try out a Tankazon. Yes the build is abit items dependant, but with KTA's current uber MF luck I'm sure we'll find the runes to make a Kingslayer sword and a Lionheart Armour. All we need is a Hel, Lum, 2 x Fal, Mal, Um and a Gul. :D
Anyway, glad to hear you made it through Act 2 and half of 3 safely. If in your adventures you come across any good daggers, a Hsaru's Belt (I found the boots yesterday myself), any IAS / + Passive Zon skills Amutlet / gloves, I'd love to take them off your hands.
Assuming I don't die, I'll return the stuff I have currently borrowed, as I replace it with better stuff.
Again big thanks for last night's christmas presents.

Syxx, here's a point to consider:
Amazon are REALLY bad with hitrecovery when using a shield and another weapon than a javelin or a wand (dagger might work also...not sure). They block extremely sloooooowly...and take ages to recover.
That's why I either played them with a big two-handed maul or..ermm...with a big two-handed maul :lol:
Amazon Basin or our very own Amazon forum should have the real info on that.
I have +3 Passive Ammy you might enjoy. Nothing else on it though.

If you go 2handed please try to get as fast a weapon as possible to get as much swings in inbetween times you get dodgelocked or stunned into hit recovery.

KTA 8.0 has one of the new runewords. Did some NM runs today to lv my merc and also a bit of hell solo (act 1). Still not a good place for him. Anyhow with the runes accumulated on my KTA mule and some of the stuff I found today I made a shiny "Voice of reason" knout.
Then I proceeded to show off with it to Syxx..and talked him into a game of NM cows... :( ...which turned out to be a bad idea for his amazon...

The bad news is my tankazon got taken out by some halbred weiling cows on Saturday.
The good news is Det was nearby to loot me, so besides losing some charms and gems, all the gear you had lent me I still have.
Tankazon version 2, is now level 22, and progressing well.
Det : Was it your son I was playing with on Saturday ? We had a good game and cleared most of Act 1 together. His pally aura certainly helped.

Yes, it was indeed my son. He has his own account or plays on det-3 (a character called "hamapaldin".) So if anybody sees me on det-3 and i don't answer, its not me being rude, but my son who speaks no english (he's 9 and just about starting to learn it :thumbsup: )

I've been mfing some more, since my merc got this lovely "insight" weapon. First few minutes i felt almost invincible: damage taken to mana was recovered so fast, I could stand in few firewalls, meteors and hydras in durance lvl 3, killing council. The only disadvantage is loss of life leech and damage, which causes merc to die a bit too often. For hell i need a nice 4 socket eth polearm.
The runeword was made in a scythe, so it's great for teleporting, but less great for killing. I wanted to find him another tal's mask, but of course when you search for something, it just won't drop. Don't know if I'll use this weapon in our game, because with BO we don't need this massive mana regeneration. But I'll certainly wanna show you the aura, and "spirit" in the secksy crystal sword ;)
About new finds - not much luck. Another dwarfstar, cloudcrack sword (barb maybe?) and things like aldurs maces and whitstans shields. One valkyrie wing, +1, sold to Ormus.
As I moaned and cursed in at least 2 other threads: my INSIGHT runeword crashes my game. Problem with the german version on all items that allow you to wear an aura. Will be the same on EDGE. :(
If anybody knows a fix (change language version mebby?) plz let me know.

I'll email you the english language pack when I get home. All aura adding items crash non-english versions of the game. You'll loose the nice german names though. I like the english version, mostly because the polish one was badly translated, aparently by yound people not knowing much about grammar and style.
It would be nice if it was actually e-mailable....in another thread somebody said it was 200 MB? Can you let me know what files to exchnage or is it kinda a no-brainer?

AFAI remember, it was around 4 MB, few files packed in rar archive. The readme file is in polish, bu I'll translate it for you. You'll have to substitute one of the files in diablo directory. If you backup the german file, you'll be able to change the version back, so for exapmle your son can play :D
I hope I remember it correctly, anyway - it worked for me, so it's doable. The 200 MB thing is probably with movies and spoken text - here you change only written text.

Yea, it changes a lot, especially builds with maxed warmth - actually can save skillpoints used both in warmth, and teleport. Now I could max ES and orb synergy... if I wasn't lvl 81 already!
So it is tuesday and KTA 8.0 is still alive and kicking. Actually our closest call came right at the start when we proceeded into the Flayer Jungle. A couple of Shaman/Flayer boss packs with mods that I didn't even get to see played jojo with our healthbars, dropping about 1000 HPs on my red ball every now and then. Quick fingers with the purples were a great help here.
It became a very nice adventure from here on. The group stayed together in an incredibly disciplined way and also LK delivered again. This time a Shadowskiller with 23 life.
No dolls in Flayerdungeon (at least not of the boss kind with nasty auras) and only moderately hurting ones in sewers.
Travincal was a slaughter. The monster density wasn't too bad, but Council came right out to great us. Kudos to Aerath, Chiller and Nexplo tanking them. My Paladin chose to send his merc into the fray. Too lively I remember the "death by FE council" stories. NVM that it is mostly in NM.
The annoying thing about durance was of course the size...and the fact that we went EVERYWHERE and the exit was in the last corner of the map. GRRRRRRRRR Blizzard :rant: As a tradeoff, neither Bremm nor Maffer or Meph held out long. assaulting Meph with 6 ppl makes you wonder why anybody needs a moat trick. He never attacked and just did us the favor to die fast.
KTA 8.0 uses some of the new runewords, namely Voice of Reason and Spirit and is looking forward to Hellforge runs tomorrow.
I have to work out of town unscheduled, so it might be 20:00 CET before I show up.
Just noticed that we will have to do the Durance2 thingy and Council again for Powerplay :(

Just returned and washed off the blood on my Holy Shield.
KTA 8.0 had a lucky draw monster wise tonight. No gloams at Izzy, a Lost city WP near the entrance and 5 HF runs (KO,IO,LUM, FAL,IST) without too many mages.
CS took a bit longer, our melees did mostly stunning, aura flashing and DV charges casting while the casters/ranged destroyed the monsters. Diablo basically had a heart attack when he spawned from his seal. Died in under a minute and could even kill our Carrion vine :lol:
Needless to say we blasted through the Foorhills and gave Shenk a good whacking - all those archers couldn't stop us.
A no-show from Power_Play again, which is kinda not exactly so great, because it now means you are missing Book/Council/Meph/Izzy/HF and Diablo...nothing that gets solved in 5 minutes :( ..and we were planing to finish this damn thing next Wednesday at the latest. Looks like we need to resolve some of that somehow on the weekend if you are still with us?
Oh...and it looks like at least 5 of the KTA 9.0 spots are taken already?

Anyhow I need a new or better weapon. The one I have now doesn't do much damage and its frustrating watching the life Regeneration of the monsters when I am whacking away at them by myself. Of course I can tank and flash conviction but I want a better punch....
So right now I have two options.
1. If someone could provide me with a DOL rune I can make a Passion Conquest Sword. This will give me 97-138 (bad roll) or 115-165 (perfect roll).
2. Upgrade my current weapon, Baezil's Vortex 161% (or if anyone have a better weapon for me to upgrade). For that I need a Perf Emerald. This will get me a Baezil's Vortex scourge with 8-209 damage.
(I hope I got the calculations right):cheesy:
Right now I'm leaning towards the upgrade.
As we just have two sessions left until Guardianship and I will not likely find anything better, I would like you to give me some input on what decision to make.

Power, please let us know how you feel on the rush thingy? Actually I am thinking along the lines where we might hook up in a GAT game or so, where a few quiet powerful characters can help us out to rush you. Its something I am a bit reluctant to suggest, but as I pointed out before..getting ALL the quests you are missing with our current KTA team might just take a bit and its certainly not without danger.
That said...who will be in KTA 9.0 and as what?
Still considering a PS-sin...or a Fire Casting Druid.

Rush is ok by me. But it actually has to be today or monday afternoon because this weekend (starting friday afternoon) is going to be a big party (including my girlfriend which means no sneaking away to game) because of my parents 25th anniversary.
(And even if I DO manage to get away I'll probably be WAY to drunk to play :xmad: )

So..if today, about what time are we talking? CET I mean....
If I dust of my Wind Druid and get BO from my barb, there is really nothing I fear too much in act 4. Council and dolls are a different matter, especially when I play with other ppl (I am usually the careful player and notice that even characters below my level tend to rush ahead of me..which gives me the feeling I should be up front, so I rush as well....not a good idea as a rule.)
So, yeah...lets set a time...and I hope that some of the others have time as well. I am actually fine with playing our KTA characters...just lets have outside BO, if Chiller cannot be there. Maybe we can at least get council and Meph right away, then go for Diablo. Any of the sidequests like HF and book or Izzy will just have to wait I am afraid....
How is everybodies take on Nihlatak? Do him after Baal or before? Die as Guardians or one step away from it? :lol:

I dont know about voice of reason due to the fact on how vengence works (Elemental damage based on ordinary damage). I think I will go with upping the knout or if we have a butchers pupil/headstriker in KTA 8...:fish:

oh yes i understand me using maphack to whatever purposes i use it is an issue with KTA, but when i know i play with people who dont use it, who dont have an upper hand to me, im more than willing to put it away for the KTA games. however, i will keep using it to check ilvls on my other character. so if thats not an issue id still like to join. and im not noobified by it cause ive never really taken advantage of the main purpose of it, i have some dignity :)

We have played with people that have violated the rules (muling items in for example) before and were ready to give them a second chance. I cannot be sure that nobody who has ever played with KTA has not used/done anything that is condemned by KTA outside the team. The only difference here is we can be sure with Ankheli because he admitted to it.
Don't forget that before I replied to this thread we already had an invitation extended to him. But while my opinion might weight a lot (it might..I am not enforcing an extra weight of my opinion), things are usually decided by the team.

Everybody draws the line somewhere else, all I said I wasn't going to make up my mind right away, especially since Ank is not hiding what he did/does. Well, maybe being a long standing member of these forums, a member of GAT and part of KTA for now 9 outings, I should be aware that my opinions are also scutinized more closely. I should not have posted right away and kept the matter in limbo, but waited until my mind was made up and posted then.

Again, I don't think there are lesser and greater KTA members. In the team that plays now, everybody has an equal voice. No way I'll be the one to shout "Follow me all to the Pit of Abadon..and if you don't I quit". But of course I am aware that I could have said "Allow Ank to join us and I quit!!"

But I think Kev understood that..that's why he proceeded to explain the IMHO point.
Its all cool guys..don't let us get into a fight over this. KTA doesn't use MH or bots or cheats and I sincerely hope that we don't have or ever had a member who did. So it won't hurt us to put up the rule "no MH, cheating or boting for anybody who wants to be in KTA".

Just a warning guys: I'm not part of this thread, but I still would like to put in my 2 cents nonetheless. Hopefully you'll listen.
I've never played KTA. I am however in a purist legit clan of which my husband and I are both members (heheh it's how we met, imagine that) and the rules are much the same. Currently we have a 84 Summoner and a 83 Iron Barb. We've gone straight through, and we're finally in act V Hell. Between the two of us, our two Mercs, my Carrion Vine, and his 24 minions (It's become a running joke for me to say "Spaccarelli. Party of 29, now entering (insert location here)), we've managed to nail this all by ourselves.
We have however run into some MAJOR problems in act V, and I saw you're about to take on good ol'Nihilithak. Guys, be careful out there! Those corpse explodes are the nastiest I've ever seen, and in a 8 player game no matter how many auras you got on you, you'll still die. Be safe out there guys.
Heck, if it wasn't against my clan rules, I'd be trying to join you guys. I kinda miss having a full party of eight to play, and so does Mike. No one else in our clan walks on the wild side in HC Ladder. Too attached to SC Gaming. Or WOW........
Yeah..unfortunately KTA has had its share of deaths in Nihlataks temple. But since our Tag means KillThemAll we have no choice but to go there. :winner:
Tough clan that doesn't allow you to join any other team..even one that is limited to one run through the whole game in all difficulties and untwinked at that.

Here's my thoughts on the whole Ankeli debate (if you could care less).
I don't see a problem with him playing with KTA. I myself used maphack when I played in SC before switching to HC to join in with KTA 3.0. The KTA'ers didn't know of my past exploits and accepted my word that I wasn't going to use it when I joined.
When I joined in with KTA I didn't use MH and to be exact never loaded it up again once I had made the switch.
Now, I am not saying that Ankeli will go the same way as me and never use MH again once he has joined KTA, but if I had not been allowed to join because of my past MH use then I would never have gotten to game with some great people and I hope they enjoyed gaming with me too.
I would say that anyone who wants to join, who says they will not use MH or break any of the other rules should be allowed entry. After all we do have to take the word of everyone who joins that they aren't using it.
GAT imo is a different matter because that entails being hack free 100% of the time, but that has never been a pre-requisite of joining KTA to my knowledge.
If all the people who are going to be part of KTA 9.0 are willing to give the guy a shot, and trust that he sticks to his word then there is no problem. Don't let anyone (past KTA'ers or not) let you be put off giving someone a chance to prove themselves.
If there is even 1 person who decides they'd rather not play with him then that should also be the end of the arguement and he should not be allowed to join.

You know, you could always just allow him to play. To be quite honest, I've had lots of family members have hacks, cheats, bots.. Before I got married and moved, I had them all on my computer. I just refused to use them. Just because they have the hacks, cheats, and bots doesn't mean they're a bad person, and that they automatically use them.
And I agree about the GAT, I'd not allow him onto it either. I'm not GAT though.. I'm SWK.
But give him a chance. He very well may be a valuable asset. And if you don't let him, you'll miss out. I'd exercise caution though. If it looks as though hacks come into play, a day of reckoning will come.
I'll talk to my other half about us joining you guys. No one else plays with us, but we'd have to go possibly talk to the Clan Elders or something. I don't think it's in clan regs. I'm not saying I won't but I'm not saying I will either. I hope you understand. :thumbsup:

and nvm it takes a hellova lot more than that to insult me or make me feel bad about anything. i knew when i bought a charm that i rolled 150 gems into not getting a skiller, having friend tell me that its not of sufficient level and thus me picking up the mh to see for myself that most people wont like my habit after that. i can live with it :)
Since I'm not actively playing KTA though I'll stay out of it.

I must say I personally do not care much about what people do -outside- of KTA (within limits... I'll not take a TPPKer on board even if they promise not to use it in the game).
Especially if all Ankeli uses it for is to check Ilvls - that won't influence game play at all so he won't feel tempted to turn it on when we get stuck in the Maggot Lair or an incredibly large Durance again...

I'll of course take a spot in KTA 9. Haven't quite decided yet what I'll play... Was thinking along the same lines as Det actually... PS-sin or Firecaster Druid. Leaning more towards the former. Another option is a Frenzybarb, but I fear this session of KTA has used up all our good luck for the coming 10 sessions, and they do need decent kit to be anything other than just a BO-canine-of-the-female-persuasion.
Even though I'm still tempted into a semi-twinked outing sometime... (I do need to Guardian that Monksin sometime... and won't be able to do so in KTA unless it's slightly twinked, but since KTA is basically all I play... *sigh*).
Well, take the PS sin, I'll be happy with a caster Drood.
..and what lv is the sin? We can still play inbetween the years and get her that title...

Basically she needs to have -2- items to function - Ribcracker and Gorerider (which can then be upped).
That should be about it. Of course, I can twink her to hell and back to get a good functioning character, but that's beside the point. The advantage of KTA is having a group which manages to deal with every enemy and shortcomings in characters.

Weeeeeeell...we did give Powerplay his rush, Seadreamer was also there and I came with KTA_Sturmrufer. At first I felt a bit unsure if it was right to bring in my twinked Druid. Council and dolls didn't give us much of a trouble, at one point we even decided not to bother with my BO barb anymore as his BO is only lv 24 and doesnt last too long. He also can only be in act 2, so it seemed too much hassle to always go for a recast.
Meph also died quickly and the Book and HF quests (IO) were done safely. Then it was time for Izzy. Right at the entrance, Gloams and a Balrog boss pack greeted us. This was the moment when I was truly glad that I didn't join with KTA_Adeodatus, because I at least and maybe we all would have seen deeds. While Power and Sea were clever enough to stay at the entrance, I actually charged onto the plain. Man, it was crawling with gloams, gloam boss packs and Balrogs (also with bosses). I downed not less than 8 purples, recasting CA, oak and Grizzly like mad to find a breathing room and cast a tp. No chance. In the end, I had to take the ultimate insult and ALT F4. It was that bad. If any of the monsters would have had a conviction aura, that would have been a dead lv 91 Druid and possibly no chance to loot.
Well, the reroll gave us a gloam free game and first Izzy then Dizzy :lol: did us the favour and died. So we are all now on the same square: Act 5 frigid Highlands. Roll on monday.

First I'm sorry for not being there in the evening - I took my aspirin and just fell asleep around 7PM :hanky: Now I had a good sleep, almost can't talk (throat :teeth: ) and just found a homunculus.
Aerath told me that the first KTA edition was actually twinked, and we were talking about twinking in the 9.0. He wants to play that ribcracker sin, and untwinked kinda eliminates some builds. So maybe this can be another point to discuss - after the erm, massive mfing between games issue?
Nex, I've just found headstriker and atlantean, does it solve your weapon problems?

If you said you'd stop using MH, then sure I'd give you a chance.
If your only not going to use it in KTA games, but still use it otherwise, then no, thats still not good :)
But as Ive said all along, Ive only been in 1 KTA, so this is all IMO.
I have great respect for Det, and the guys, so really its up to them..........

Hi all,
What an interesting discussion.
The original idea of KTA, was to find a group of HC people who would play co-operatively going from Normal Act I to Hell Act 5, using items only found by team members in the 'official' KTA games. No use of hacks or cheats was permitted. All WPs along the way would be found, all monsters encountered would be killed. By the end of the game, hopefully we'd all be alive and have reached Guardian status .... and we'd have had alot of FUN getting there.
Like any concept, things develope, mutate while under way. In one KTA expedition we played with twinked characters bringing in all sorts of items we had found with our non-KTA characters.
In KTA 8.0 we allowed an ex-KTA player Chiller, to bring in her non-KTA character to join us. We know her personally and there was never of question of her using uber / hacked items. Its not her style.
In another KTA expedition we played on the theme of "Kill Bill", Bill being a Pally, Bud was a Barb, and the rest of the team, were Bill's 'ladies' ... a bunch of Sins.
Recently, at the end of an evenings KTA adventuring we have set a character level limit, which the members can reach outside of KTA games, so come the next offical game we are all level with each. Some people have used time to MF, other to level their mercs.
All these mutations of the original KTA ideal, are fine, as the party as a whole agreed to them, and we still followed the basic concept of KTA of no cheating and having fun.
KTA rules apply to offical KTA games. We are not the Diablo police and tell people what they can and can't do outside of KTA games. Just what they can do when the play with us :D
Since our character names are prefixed with KTA- we expect players to be honest and fair when using their KTA characters with other players on Bnet as we don't wish to have the name dragged through the mud. If other people see a KTA character in a game, we'd like them to know they can 'trust' them.
After a KTA expedition has reached Hell Act5 we are free to twink our characters as much as we like with any legit gear we have.
A couple of the earier KTA members, turned to the dark side and got right into legitimate PK'ing. They didn't use their KTA characters to do this, they made specialize PK builds, but if we came across any +9 to max dam jewels in a KTA game, we did pass them alone.
So with regards to a recent KTA applicant, who has been very upfront and mentioned he uses maphack, outside of KTA to check item levels only, my PERSONAL opinion is.... its not my business. They key here for me, is it is outside of official KTA games so I can not tell him what to do. I don't use mh myself, and I dont like that others do, but as long as he doesn't use it in games he plays with me, then I a fine playing with the person.
Maybe from playing with KTA, he will 'see the light' and give up mh ... who knows ?
Anyway I see KTA 9.0 is booking up.

A mojomancer is only using curses.... But i will make my own variant om him with clay golem and CE....
Solo he mainly rely on the AI curses to kill, but in this group i will probably max the curses the group needs...
@Euro.. Darn, darn, darn I upped the knout yesterday.. I think the headstriker would have been better.. but i doubled my damage anyway.:thumbsup:

We have other melee guys who can use the headstriker :) I just read in the Pallyforum how a Lawbringer Seraph Rod would be great but my LEM and KO are now gone and in my Knout...
If we have the curses the group needs, which must include a nice-ish DV and a really good LR, there is no need for Conviction, so we could add another member with a powerful elemental attack, maybe. I am not very keen on any curses that convert (in a way that our auras temporarely go over to monsters - but that is mainly a Paladin problem IIRC). Confuse is very nice, almost more fun than decrep. But loads curses at the right time can confuse a group here, blind another there and remove Physical and elemental imunities elsewhere. Plus Gumby, Valk and maybe a SM?
Obviously, with an enchantress and FireBear around, the PS-sin would concentrate on the lightning/cold charges?

I was thinking on that already really... though in doubt about FoFlame and the lightning one. I prefer the Cold one with freezing critters but it's a bit more tricky to get it off.

Might be worth a look to possibly incorporate some of that into your build.

My upped Duriel's Shell still has an empty socket, but I am not sure how a facet works with Fireclaws. I'll inquire on the Druid forum.
Twinking/Tons of items
I must say I agree on the no-twinking part and the too-many-items feeling. It's one of the things I did not enjoy in KTA 5, when we spent the best part of the game getting new gear in for someone to use when they reached yet another level.
I would therefore never suggest a fully twinked game again. However, I do feel it might be possible to try a build for which one needs one or two items, and bring just those two items in. This would open up the opportunity to slightly less cookie-cutter character builds (Zealot Assassin ? Wolfbarb ? Monksin ? :clap: ) which I personally think is a nice idea.
I kind of doubt we'll have such a surplus of items again anytime soon, since imo we've used up all of our luck regarding item drops in this session. And, it doesn't appear as though we're having any -great- MF-characters in KTA9. The Tesladin or Frostzealot both work well in normal/nm cows and kurast/flayer jungle runs, but that's about the only thing there atm. Even then they can't just pack on MF with no concern or care.

You were probably looking at my post of a build. I had noticed that monsters (bosses included) freakin HATE clay golems. Then I proceeded to use a skill calc from a site to-be-unnamed, and checked out what exactly a fully synergized golemmancer would be like.
With full synergies and golem mastery, and 20 +skills (not possible for KTA, but bear with me here) a clay golem with a level 20 BO would have 80k life in hell. Thats one helluva tank.
Without 20 +skills and with a level 20 BO, his life is half of that, iirc.
Unfortunately, the golemmancer would be worthless alone. Golems do very little dmg compared to other things the mancer could be doing. However, if you wish to try it out, be my guest. If I get into KTAEast's next version, I was going to try something like that, but Im wondering if I should try a kicker... they UNBELIEVABLE at taking out bosses...
The reason I made the switch from golemmancer to asn is because I was told by the kind folks at the necro forum that they have tried and tried, but cant come up with a golemmancer that simply doesnt suck. Which is a shame, but that discouraged me enough, because I want to play a build I can use after KTA.
