View Full Version : Sanctuary in Zombie Garden...
Okay, this is probably a stupid question but I've been pondering it for a little bit now so here goes nothing... first off, I was wondering if you have to actually attack the undead while the Sanctuary aura is active, or if it just like pulses and knocks the undead back and damages them. Secondly, if Sanctuary did work this way, couldn't you just max Cleansing and Sanctuary and go sit in the middle of the Zombie Garden and let Sanctuary kill all the zombies over and over again for basically infinite experience? Thanks.

1. Sanctuary adds to your melee attacks as well and not just magic damage pulses.
2. Zombies don't don't respawn after you have killed them except in single player when you recreate a new game. Even for those little fallens that shamans resurrect, you only get experience once for each of them.

First: Sanctuary has two effects versus monsters classified as undead (except bosses and super-uniques). It works in the same way the Holy Fire/Shock/Freeze auras work save for it only works against the undead.
The aura will damage and knock back undead monsters as well as enhance damage of your attack. It receives a synergy from Cleansing at +7% Magic Damage Per Level to knockback effect only. To stay alive it would be adviseable to attack monsters while this aura is active (though in Normal and NM it may not be necessary).
Second: No. You only get the experience once. This is similar to standing by a Foul Crow nest and killing Foul Crows (the nest eventually pops) or standing by a Fallen Shaman and letting him revive Fallen. You cannot gain infinite experience from anything.

I think he refers to the Reanimated Horde-type of monsters (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-reanimatedhorde.shtml), which respawn by themselves. (They are the Pindleskin variety of Undead bastards). They can drop items if you kill them again, so I'd say that you also get XP.
Aha! Taken from the link I posted:
Reanimated Horde have a chance to rise again. You will still get experience and a chance for loot multiple times so kill them again and again.
it used to be the case that you WOULD get experience from killing the defiled warriors after they got back up (may have been a bug). but eventually they do stay dead so it wouldn't be infinite.
