Lil DC Question.

I have gotten 3 DC messages in the game I am in - as far as I can tell we are on server 165 ... but I am not sure I am reading it right

xx.xxx.xxx.138:6112
xx.xxx.xxx.165:4000

so ... it is the bottom one secont to end yes?

I dunno - I used to know how to do this but it has been ages and ages (least 6 months) I think it is the bottome one I was just wondering at placement - buddy had first number and second to last in common with me but as the first number never changed I think it is that second to last.



PS -

I am not sure how this is possible but the addition of words makes your avvi's dance look almost obscene. It always looked cute before ... now it gives me the creepy crawlies

iirc,

go to command prompt

(start, accesories, command prompt)

type in: netstat -n

while you're in a diablo game

The number with xx.xxx.xxx.4000 is the one you look at.
And you look at the number just before 4000.
like in cy's example: xx.xxx.xxx.165.4000, the server you're on is 165.

start+run and type "cmd" or "command"

yup... and the ip will always be:

63.240.xxx.___:4000 where ___ is the server number.

at the risk of utterly confusing everyone in this thread (dont read below if you are easily confused)

I'll give you a little background info on what an IP address actually is. An ip address is the way to keep track of different users on the internet. Every computer that is connected to the internet has a public IP address (but not every one is unique... if you are behind a router, then every computer behind the router has the same IP address).

Blizzard has leased a few networks (63.241.202.0 = USEast, 63.240.83.0 = USWest, etc). Each contains 255 different IP addresses. Bliz assigns one IP address to each game server. When you join a game, your computer connects to the game server. Thus when you open up command you can check what server you are connected to.

When the soj count goes up, it goes up all across the server (but not all across the realm). WHen it reaches a certain point, diablo will walk. He walks ALL ACROSS THE SERVER. so any game on that server will "walk the earth" if it is a hell game.

I'm fairly good with comps (my 3 year-old, 1 ghz 256 ram computer with a TNT2 Riva runs faster than most 2ghz radeon xxxx pros just because those people don't know how to keep their comp running smoothly. I think there is one on the second or third account, and one on one of the higher accounts. Those pesky things are always hard to find, but there are two.
