Hi All,
My brother was playing in a game in normal . Battling Baals minions and he saw a paladin mowing them down with what he thinks was Blessed Hammers What he thought was amazing was that the hammers were large and really fast and going in a wide circle . I'm a lvl 50 paladin that just entered nightmare difficulty. I have only a few points in blessed hammer but I gotta ask is it really that powerful . When I use it the hammers are small and they don't last very long . Yet my brother saw the hammers wide and extremely fast and they seemed to be rather constant in the same wide circle yet mine with only 4 points in it are small and spread out wide only to disappear when I stop pressing the mouse button . I do have points in meditation . Yet I still don't see the same thing am I wrong or should I max Bh anyway . Right now I most of my points are going to vengance and thorns then I'll go to Bh . My ultimate goal with my pally Calnook is to get to and excel in Hell difficulty . I've got a ways to go so this is curiosity more than anything else . Since I've begun to post and play D2 this forum just enhances my playing experience. So my hats off to you fine folks for helping to make the game even more rewarding . Wow that was rather long winded. All replies welcome

ok it looks to me that you havent played a paladin before and maybe even are new to d2. if u are.. welcome!

the blessed hammer is an extremely powerful attack that can do more than 10k damage with synergies maxed and the right gear.

i see you put points into thorns and vengeance and bh. not the greatest combination. if i were u i would start over and put my points differently:

if u like the hammers make a hammerdin:

20 blessed hammer
20 vigor (powers up hammers)
20 blessed aim (powers up hammers)
20 concentration(only aura that raises hammer damage)
the rest goes into holy shield for good blocking and defense.

hammerdins are a very popular class, but u have to make em right.

anyways good luck

you can "save" your current character by not putting any more points into BH, maxing venegeance and synergies, and putting some points in Conviction. if you want to make a hammerdin, you should restart. it's a little tricky to play at first but they can be very powerful.

Thanks for the responses folks. As for restarting with a new pally I may just do that but I think I'll keep my current one going with vengance and it's synergies because of the time I've already invested in him . Thanks for all the good advice keep 'em coming and thanks again

If you decide to restart and make a hammerdin, you may want to read my hammerdin guide (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=502), it's specially meant for those who don't have great gear lying around, it may be useful

Best of luck with the avenger, there's also a guide for them in the strategy compendium you may want to check out, if you need one :)
