That's right y'all, there is a new druid mod. And somehow it seems to be... Me.

Simple rules, don't make me do anything, and we'll get along just fine. What this means for simpliity sake.

Watch your language, watch your manners.

Flame someone, I don't care who started it, prepare for a vacation from the forums.

Post something offensive, be it with racism, sexism, or any other -ism, be prepared for me to come in with a eth BOTD Giant Thresher to excise you from the forums.. I May not be the nastiest dog in the neighborhood, but I get the job done.

And to steal from a previous OT thread:
No profanity; no swearing, no going around the word filter, no usage of words that turn into stars -> *******
OT doesn't mean spam, so no spamming
No discussion of using hacks and illegal software of any kind.
All forum rules apply

I say we make being on topic a bannable offense, in which case our new mod should be banned for mentioning game stuffs.

For those of you in school, when do you start up school again? I don't get back until tuesday thankfully. We were annihilated in the homecoming football game. 35-0. OUCH. So any time away from there will probably be a good thing.

It is a sad day for the druid forum things have changed and not for the best. I am sad to say my time here is up. I thought some of us came up with some good ideas for modship even using a 2 or 3 mod system like the barb board and other boards here. But for some reason we now have someone who is not part of the community which I think is the biggest mistake. I do not have anything against this new mod....don't know him?her? but anyways.... to late now I guess....Have fun all and see you on the flip side.

Zabo

I somewhat feel the same way Beo, however as long as we are dependant on the OT threads we need a mod. I see it this way, the only things that a new mod would know is from casual reading/discussion of our antics in the mod forums, beyond that its somewhat a fresh slate? heh.

What is this flip side of which you speak! O.O

Sorry to see you go, but hey, we all have our times to leave. If you don't know who I am or haven't heard about me long before now, you been travelling through here blind. In my time here I have been a trade mod on East, West and in the Trade Values forum. I was one of the mods on the old Dialoii.net marketplace.

Am I part of your community/clique? No. Do I know a good many of the members? Yeah. Do I recall the days of playing druids exclusively? Yeah, back when I still played in 1.09. I have played once since 1.10 to run my last werebear through the game from scratch.

Does that make me better than any of the rest of you? No. Makes me different from most of you.

Why did they make me mod? First off, I volunteered. Second, they wanted someone who wasn't part of the clique. Someone who will treat everyone the same regardless of friendships. I have banned friends, I have banned mods, I have banned enemies. I am equal opportunity. I do everything on here by the rules of the site. And I ban faster than anyone. I have already banned one person in here tonight because they were previously banned. Didn't think about it, just adhered to the rules. I expect everyone in here to follow the rules, nothing more, nothing less.

Don't like me? Too bad, I am here until I find someone who I think can do the job. Want me to leave you guys alone? Don't break the rules. Want the mod job? Prove you can do it honest and efficient.

We weren't questioning credentials as much as we were responding to an unfamiliar face.

With that said..

Any opinions on blade III? I have yet to see the second one, which I heard sucked horribly. Dare I waste $8 on this one?

I didn't particularly like the first one, so I will undoubtedly be avoiding this one. Although the ads seem to look interesting.

It takes a lot for me to say a movie flat out sucks. I just saw one advertisement for it and most likely will be seeing it as soon as I can get the second one from my neighbor. At the same time, I feel I can wait until it comes out on DvD. Seeing the movie isn't exactly high on my to-do list.

Well, I see we just had a Renaissance... =P And now the same mod reigns over the two forums I frequent the most (druid and west trade).

Anyways one word of advice, shap. An eth BOTD great poleaxe would serve you better, but an eth BOTD archon staff would easily have a couple of these druid forum posters (kind of wordy) bow down to your show of style.

I hope you have a successful term keeping the druid forum posters (I need a better name for the posters in this forum) in check. GOOD LUCK!! :D

The one thing I made when 1.10 came out was actually an eBOTD giant thresher. I wish I hadn't let my accounts lapse. It was hella fun.

I'd like to say officially and openly, if Shaperla modding is just a temp solution until someone else is found (Which seems is the case).

I'd be available for Modding if that's the direction Elly and the others would choose to go.

I know my posting has been limited of late, But even in the last few months I've been consistently reading the forums including the Druid OT threads. I agree things have definitely gotten hand with certain posts and certain comments and I'm glad steps were taken to rectify that.

I also understand Shaperla took the bullet on this one, so the Druids could keep their OT. Let me say, all the guys here appreciate having the OT thread back. Most just don't like the way things were done.

All this to say, I'd like to devote myself to insure the Druid forum has a proper balance of leisure and courtesy while not putting an extra load on an already busy Mod.

You've answered your own question Ash.

I gave some suggestions to Shaperla on how to handle this OT but I don't think my opinion matters. I basically asked him to change the name and unsticky the thread and be our friend before being our moderator.

I recall him telling me something along the lines of wanting to control and manage this Forum his way and not someone else's.

We'll see how he handles this place...I mean it is HIS Forum now and no longer the community's.

Let's try to keep our noses clean again, the earlier "shaping up" period didn't result in many casualties so this one shouldn't prove a problem, right?

The inpersonal and objective modship approach might not fit our close knit community ideals, but realistically there isn't any other option unless there has been enough time to get aquinted(sp) with the community. I hope we can form as warm relationship with our current mod as we did with our previous one(Garbad).

If this is a temporary solution, I will support either of the current openly seeking this position.

Frankly Unchosen, like or don't, it is how it is going to happen. If you don't like it, leave. I don't really want to hear about it. I told you, but perhaps it has not sunk in yet, I am going to leave you guys for the most part alone. The only time I intend to do anything special in here is if someone violates the rules of this site.

If the name on the OT thread isn't "creative" enough for you, I am happy to get rid of it. Permanently. Doesn't bother me a bit. I have taken away OT completely on west in the past, it won't hurt me to lose it here. One less thing I have to read.

This is a new scene for you guys. There is no history. I will be glad to send you the number of some doctors who will help you cope. I deleted and moved all the NGAC threads that were on the first page. I am letting everyone start over. I am going to give everyone a chance. Frankly, I am not your leader. You guys still have the same leaders you had previously, the only difference is who is enforcing. Before, it was enforcement by commitee, and now there is only one person dealing with things here.

You need a thread stickied? Tell me. You want someone's flame dealt with before you get stupid and respond? Send an alert. You want help with editing a thread? Pm, email, ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, etc. If I am home, I am open for business. I may not respond, or I may not deal with your issue in ten minutes, but I will deal with the issue.

Now, can we get on with things? Or are y'all just going to complain? Doesn't bother me either way. But it will probably be far more pleasant if you get over it and move on.

Anywhow on to the off-topic....has anyone seen the Alexander movie? Debating still but before anything I have to get the new Matrix box set next Tuesday (I have a final that morning so it will be a present to myself for completing the final  ) and then next week Return of King extended edition. I got the impression Unchosen did just that, pm you for a thread editing. A funny, ironic or interesting thread title spurs conversation when topics are scarce, in my opinion.

But meh, like Zabo says, pick your battles.

Basically Shaperla has said we're proving our worth in this thread here.
No title change (Shaperla is teh creative), no un-stickying..until the next thread. So guys, it sucks alot but we can make it work.

So back to business:

Yes, I remember the brief period of uncertainty where I was extra careful to avoid any trouble caused with my posts, mainly because of the scary post he posted at the time(NGAC1, post 68). Nothing bad happend even though some bent a rule intentionally, I haven't seen any bad decisions.

I am an anthropology student so like Troy earlier this year I go into these movies with a different perspective then most since I have studied this for the last three years. Troy overall was entertaining but was cut way to much to say it is a direct taking of Homer's Epic. I mean the time fram of the movie is weeks while the epic is years. I am going to see Alexander and see how close it is to what I have studied.

Acutally whole cultures in the same time period had bisexual men. The Greek cultures in particular had a belief in some cases that women where only there for giving birth basically. At a young age a boy would be taken from his mother to be raised by a male often an uncle or something similar.

Vampires > Greeks.

I think it's more like action movie > historical event movie. The hollywood movie consept doesn't support that well anything without sex, action or comedy, thus these elements have to be forced into the movie whether the movie suffers from it or not. IMO of course.

If you need a history lesson, read a book or watch a documentary.

Meh guess I could the idea I had which I think I mentioned here before was a dragon on my back which had a long tail that coiled up and down part of my upper arm.

Zabo
28-11-2004, 16:03
I've been looking through a lot of things, and heres something I had somewhat liked even though I know I will end up having a friend redraw a few of the details on it to meet my expectations http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/A41005/high/corystattoo001.jpg

TheUnchosen
28-11-2004, 16:10
Seriously, You'll need to tweak it a bit so it actually fits with the body.

IMO, tattoos just look wierd if they're look..isolated.

You know what I mean?

I bugs me endlessly to see people with tattoos that just sit on the side of their arm and it doesn't look like it fits with the body.

Those type of tattoos loses their appeal very quickly and turn into something some people regret.

Don't tattoo anything cause it looks cool. Tattoo something because it means something.

Just my friendly advice.

Zabo
28-11-2004, 16:12
Hence me getting the friend to redraw it, I don't like how far it extends. I wanted to get it coiled, or possibly the head and a bit of the tail itself. Closer to the shoulder

TheUnchosen
28-11-2004, 16:20
That tattoo is resting on the shoulder.

Any higher and you'll be hitting bone...something you might not want to avoid since it can be VERY painful.

Well ya see, Ash has been spamming in west for years, and I finally kicked him out of there so he came to Druids. Soon enough he is going to think I am following him... Looking through his windows at night.... Calling him and hanging up the phone when he answers....

And yeah, the little spammer even takes his computer with him to Vegas so he can leave posts between bets.

I am actually immune to novacaine. So when I had my wisdom teeth pulled they gave me sodium pentothal, gas, and novacaine. I was completely out while they worked. Although while unconcious I still managed to proposition my oral surgeon(She was rather attractive).

That night i was still feeling the effects of everything else and my Dad wanted to go to a car show, so I popped 3x 750mg vicodins. Went to the carshow completely stoned. Ate a cheeseburger and fries. Tore all the stitches out of one side and didn't notice until the next morning... And boy did I notice...

For stocking stuffers I usually recommend fur lined hand cuffs, the gift that truly keeps on giving.

However. If we are looking for unique, nice, and likely to set the right mood for the holidays, rather than perfume which is mostly just for her. Get something both of you can share. Massage oils, scented candles, things for romance. Or go with like bath crystals, and those kinds of things, although I would go romantic, I mean, if you are giving her a 3300 buck bracelet(American dollars right? Not like... Yen or something..) you are expressing quite a bit of hope for romance. Give her incentive to be romantic and reward your choice of very classy gifts.

Just a thought of course.

TheUnchosen
30-11-2004, 03:08
Well the community has indeed taken a serious blow but just cos it's broken doesn't mean it can't be fixed.

The old OT posters should hang around and try at less to keep things alive.
The Druid Forum has provided hours of boredom relief for me and I personally think I have an obligation to at less to not let it die so terribly.

Granted, it sucks but we gotta work with what we got.

Unfamiliar Moderator/Stickied threads/Crappy name/missing posters and all.

I'm sure none of it is permanant anyways. Shaperla HAS shown signs of easing up, I mean he's given us the chance to change the name. Soon he'll unsticky the thread and pray god, he may even back-up and appoint a Druid poster as a moderator.

Stuff like this can't happen over-night, all these things take time so I'm hanging around to make sure it happens as soon as possible.

Leaving won't help, hanging around will at less give the Druid Forum a chance to build itself back to it's former glory. We've had dramas before, this is just another one of them.

I just noticed we haven't welcomed our new moderator, so here goes...

Welcome to the druid forum! :howdy:
Read the stickies and enjoy your stay. Remember there are no such things as stupid questions.

If you missed it earlier, here is a vague recollection of the history of druid OT:

Long ago when the world was young, the Druid forum had no mod. Most of the veterans at the time argued strongly for not having a mod (including me, kirsty, baranor, mastavic, fenrisWULF, proud, mep, strid, and others). The problem was when trolls came to harass us, the mods were often horribly slow to respond and delete it.

One day in a stupor of drunken rage, Fenriswulf, Strid, and others decided to take moderating justice into thier own hands. The self named "natures brownies" converged on a trolling, flaming thread and began to flirt with the troll and make hilarious jokes. The bewildered trolls ran away screaming, never to return. From then on, the brownies began viciously team seducing any and all trolls to enforce the rules of the forum.

Unfortunately, some of the younger pups got carried away and OT took over the forum. To keep OT in control while still allowing the members to manly bond with each other, the "official" OT threads were started. Druid OT became a part of our tradition, and druids are now known for hilarious OT as much so and we used to be known for being friendly and helpful. Our tradition continues today, alive and well no matter what some haters think.

Have fun Shaperla!

TheUnchosen
30-11-2004, 04:22
Actually the original NB thread wasn't created to combat trolls...it was just that the first flame thread happen to be about vines. Well someone noted that when a vine died, it look "flacid"...and it really spun out of control from there.

So the "official" NB thread was made cos the flame thread got locked down and the others really had no place to continue the conversation. Of course, the NB thread got locked down pretty fast (+400 posts) cos the moderators deemed it spam but another was created in defiance and I think the whole NB series (7 in total) was a desperate race to make the thread post count reach 500. We tried over and over again but never really reached 500 but the constant lockdowns soon became a part of Druid OT tradition.

We finally managed to reach 500 around the 7th thread but past 500 posts people didn't know what to do/say and it really go too spam-ish. So I believe Elly or Gaile came swooping down and gave us one of "those" posts (behave or die posts). So we thought "Oops.." and we created a new title "Pink Beavers" in order to keep the OT tradition but shed the tarnished name of NB. Thus is the real reason why we have a tradition of changing titles every 7th thread. Pink Beavers was all about reaching 1000 posts and every other "title" following was just keeping the tradition going.

By that time, the Druid OT trend started sinking in and Druid OT was finally accepted and even adopted in other forums but the Druid Forum started the trend.

:D We roxxors!

It was a while before any other flamer/troll came back to the Forum...not until like a few "titles" in did another troll re-appear and well THAT'S when we sexed him up and he ran screaming "OMG YOU GUYS ARE HOMOS!!". After that flamer, it became common knowledge that flamers were to be dealt with by the Druid OTers.

Anyways, that's my version of the history.

Now would be a good opportunity, but you have to note that there are also some other serious applicants so the competition might be tough.

My what?

And also Forcefeedback, you're suppose to call Shaperla by his REAL name: Chuck.

"Chuck"? I guess I should be grateful you didn't pick "Charlene"..

Let me also dispell a myth here. I will not be "choosing" a new mod. That is Elly's decision. I may find someone who I feel is moderator material, and make a recommendation, but it is entirely up to her.

If I see someone in here it is not necessarily going to be the most knowledgeable, or the most conversational. It is going to be the person who I think will be most likely to be even across the board. Someone who won't do things based on friendships and "community". Someone who will ban a long time member of the community if they go out of control, rather than covering up for them. Like wise someone who will have the ability to decide whether or not a ban is appropriate at that time without having to weigh anything more than past and future contribution vs. the weight of the offense.

And one last thing on that, if, and I do mean IF there winds up being a second mod, or a new mod in here, it will probably NOT be for quite some time to come. Afraid you are all stuck with me for awhile. Remember, I was the sole mod on west for over a year before getting someone upped. You may want to get used to me.

man, all those fond memories came back. atleast for me. it wasnt really the game that was fun, but the people there. it was a break away from d2. i dont really remember exactly the times i had a few laughs, but i remember it was things mep would say with his bot.

come to think of it, i remember one thing really well, it was near the end of the match, it was asheron's turn, all he had to do is hit the opponent, but somehow he completely missed his shot and killed himself + other teammates (i think it was because he didnt notice the wind change). it was disapointing, but i look back, good times.

what happened to us, we used to be one community, the druid/76. everyone seems to be gone, only but a few of us is left. why am i still here. >.<

Of course steve wants me to ban his forum name 'death' account and return as 'tmp' just to make it easier on people who do now know who he is.

i was bored to i went to go on the gunbound website. Teh DruidPit Gunbound Guild.

man, all those fond memories came back. atleast for me. it wasnt really the game that was fun, but the people there. it was a break away from d2. i dont really remember exactly the times i had a few laughs, but i remember it was things mep would say with his bot.

come to think of it, i remember one thing really well, it was near the end of the match, it was asheron's turn, all he had to do is hit the opponent, but somehow he completely missed his shot and killed himself + other teammates (i think it was because he didnt notice the wind change). it was disapointing, but i look back, good times.

what happened to us, we used to be one community, the druid/76. everyone seems to be gone, only but a few of us is left. why am i still here. >.<

well, excuse me, i just had to bring it out.
i guess ill get shot again by ash or garb.

Im up for GB anytime Kaz,

Lets see, he preordered GW on tuesday I think so he will be alive and kicking soon, once he gets done with finals at least. (laughs at the boy with his fancy pants college finals). Other than that, from what he tells me, work has been giving him too many hours, I mean he didn't even know I became the OTF mod. :hanky:
