View Full Version : Question about what gear for kicker
Ok I saw this awsome PvP kicker that was kicking eveyones *** (no pun intended) except for hammerdins. He maxed, dual claw block, Dtalon, Venom and shadow master. But I dont know exactly what he used.
Should I use 10 shadow charms or 10 martial arts charms, or half and half?
I was thinking about using 2 jade talons for resists, and they also have skills. I cant afford the runeword items, so what do you think I should use?

There are a few guides posted above and in the strategy section.
Fade will get you most of your resists. You don't need to max claw block. 60% is plenty. Use 10 shadow gc for venom. If your kick sequence is too long, you'll be stuck in it for extended periods of time.
Also, what type of kicker? Caster-killers are the most effective and are a different build than an all-around kicker which is a different build than a melee-only kicker.
If dual claw we can assume caster killer.

Not true. Many kickers try to build around killing both casters and melee (mistakenly imo) and go dual claw.
So we can say, if you go dual claw make caster killer.
I'm not going to use Fade, I'm going to use Burst of speed.

Why? It's a waste really. You can get max kick speed fairly easily with fade on.

Run walk. Some dueling communities only allow run walk from skills, or severely limit run walk after skills that give run walk.

The only one of any significance was clan honor. And people tend to quit when you drastically limit the skills they are allowed to use. Even Gimmeitam didn't limit fast run.
I cant max fade anyway. Im maxing Dtalon, Venom, And shadow master.. and Im going to put I Dont know how many points into claw block. if there's any left over I was thinking about putting them into either dragon Flight Or Blade shield. And yes I would rather have the fast run/walk from BOS. I Duel in pubbies so anything goes.

I think BOS works much better than fade. As a kicker you won't have tons of HP. A lot of your ability to survive depends on moving fast and being hard to hit. I've built several kickers and tried both ways. Resists in NM are not a problem and you can toss on shaftstop against the odd zon or windy. Some people like to use enigma, but then you can't resist stack and templars and cold sorcs will eat you for lunch. Fade won't get you anywhere near the 320+ stacked cold resist I like to have at my disposal. There are multiple ways to build, but I think duress and lionheart are the best all around armors when resist stacking and DR aren't needed.

Dude, I just disagree with what you said so much.
A duel where you don't need stacking or DR? When does that ever happen?

I routinely duel orb and blizz sorcs, FOH pallies, etc. and never bother to stack. And I win most of the time. I win because I effectively lock them up with a lvl 1 WoF/MB and because I'm faster than they are PLUS my claw block is always at 60% because I DON'T RUN. If you are a kicker and are stuck w/o tele, I agree you need all that stacked stuff. But if you have tele to move with, as well as fast cast, it's totally not needed. Assuming of course you have decent life to take at least one hit.
Ok so how much Stength and Dex do I need for a kicker? Keep in mind that I cannot afford enigma. I already have a lionheart for when im high enough lvl for it :P. What are shadow Dancers on NL worth???.. And how many points should I put into claw block??

A good general rule:
If you use Fade, wear Enigma to get more RunWalk
If you wear other armor (Chains of Honor, Bramble, etc), use Burst of Speed.
As with all PvP characters, figure out your gear, then find the highest requirements. It isn't that hard. For dexterity, you will either need it for claws or for shield blocking. Don't forget to count your +skills that are easily equipable (Anni for example).
Speederlander:
Cool to hear. With my low level kicker I usually end up running around whatever they use for attacks. Burst of Speed is a wonderful thing - I can't wait to equip my enigma.

Many guides only recommend 1 point in SM or lvl 17, but I prefer a strong SM especially in PvP. My kicker has an lvl 38 SM, and she can take some serious beating in PvP. Don’t expect that a high lvl SM will be an awesome killer in PvP, but they works great as a life saver. Your opponent will often attack your SM instead of you, which give you some valuable sec to plan a devastating attack.
If you only put a few points in your SM, she will just act as a decoy - 1 hit and she is dead.
My SM can kill solo, especially sorc, because she uses max Fade and WB.
In my humble opinion it’s more important to max SM than DF. When you for example duel a FoH pala/trapper, your SM will theoretically take 50 % of the hits, and therefore its important that your SM can take more than one hit.
Go for max SM, you won’t regret
Good luck
