Gambling belts

I've been trying to gamble a mithril coil for crafting with mu lvl 82 assassin. I haven't even seen a mesh belt. Do I need to be a higher level to see any mithril coils? Or have I just been having bad luck?

The wise ones(heh) at Arreat Summit say that:

You have the chance to Gamble Exceptional and Elite items. Gambling Items appear as Normal Items and can only be revealed as Exceptional or Elite Items after you buy them.

The chance for Exceptional items is 1 in 11 (or 9 in 100) and the chance for Elite items is 1 in 30 (or 33 in 1,000).

So just keep buyin those belts, and you'll get a mithril coil in hopefully 30 tries.

Most important thing is not gold, but patience :P

But remember that mithril coil ilvl(item level) is 75, and while gambling, the items are +5 Levels/-4 Levels your clvl(char level). So only at lvl 70, do you have a chance at gambling a mithril coil, i believe.

The AS are simplifying the real formula quite a lot.

The chance is actually:
exceptional - (1 + 90*(ilvl-qlvl)) / 10000
elite - (1 + 33*(ilvl-qlvl)) / 10000

So to get the AS numbers you'd have to gamble an ilvl about 10 more than the item qlvl you are shooting for.

Mithril Coil's qlvl is 75 as A-D (almost) said, and when you gamble with a clvl 85 char you get items of ilvl between 80 and 89, so you get between 1.66% and 4.63%, or on average about 3.14%, chance of the belt turning elite.
