Socketing 6 %ED Jewels, Will the %ED Stack or Not?

I have a 6 socket weapon I want to use on my merc. Since I cannot afford BOTD, escpecially for my merc. Then I plan on loading it up with jewels. I have some %ED jewels but I am not sure how exactly they work. ALso can you use multiple %ED jewels? Do they only add % to the min DMG or what? I know I put one in an armor once for my merc and I saw no change in his listed DMG on his stats screen, is the extra DMG really there or not?

%ed stacks, but IMO you shouldn't make a weapon like that for a merc. May I ask which merc it is about and which level he is ?

It's additive (like everything). Example: You Cube a 300% CCB of Quickness (example...) with 2 sockets. If you use 2 40%ED/15%IAS jewels, you'd have a 380%ED/70%IAS Colossus Blade (which ain't bad at all).

May I ask which merc it is about and which level he is ?

It is a NM Act 2 Might Merc I am using for my Skelemancer. He is currently lvl 49. I am just looking for a weapon to get him by until lvl 69 when he can use the Demon's Arch Balrog Spear I have saved for him. I really just have him hanging around for his might aura but I would like for him to be able to hold his own since they like to jump right in on the action which sometimes gets him killed. Try using a Spire of Honor lance or a Pierre Tombale Couant partizan. They're not very rare, so you should be able to get one for a few pgems on the trade forums here.

Have you thought of using an Arioc's Needle when your merc is leveled enough? The +2-4 all skills boosts his might aura and thus gives your skeletons additional damage.

Another nice leveling weapon is Husoldal Evo or one of the other exceptional polearms and spears. IMO the best weapon for a necro merc is a Kelpie Snare. Try to get an ethereal one, to be socketed with Amn and upgraded as soon as the level and stats of your merc allow it. With that weapon plus a clay golem, no act boss will ever even remotely become a threat to you and your army because of massive freezing.

Apart from the weapon, my favourite merc setup is Black Hades or Gris armor (the defensive skill bonus doesn't work on mercs, however), socketed with 3 IAS jewels, and Tal's mask (level req 61 or 62, however) or Crown of Thieves.

Best way for U too get merc weapon is to kill NM Mephi about 100 times. If you cant get unique then find huge 3 socket polearm and put Ith - El - Eth in it. Don't worry about -5 life drain. It takes 1 life every 2 seconds and merc has a ultra fast life replenish.

Great, Thanks for the ideas. I actually have a Pierre Tombale Couant partizan on my retired barb that is now a mule, but I never thought of using it. I will have to give it a shot.
