Just wondering if anyone is using the aldurs set. What build is it for anyway?
Out of all of the "character specific sets" this one must be the worst.

dont think many people use it at all. I tried it once, both for elemental and wolfdruid, and i really couldnt understand how to make it useful. The weapon is painfully weak (not even elite-class item ffs), and the bonuses arent that good either. As a druid, go for uniques/other set items/rares before this crap :)
Only good item is the boots imo. but they are good!

A meleementalist using fire skills is about the only thing that can be made with it with some degree of success. At least as far as I know.

Blizz probably thought the 350% ed would make up for the low dmg, but I guess it doesnt...

the 350 ed sounds way better than it actually is :cheesy:
I couldnt even kill a single monster when trying eldritch at hell before they got me, even though the ll is good.
Switched to tomb reaver + jalals + shaft, and voila!! :)

If the weapon could be upgraded and the 350% set ed was applied differently then yes it could be very viable but as is it is not very impressive.

I have an aldurs set fire meleementalist in act 4 hell. with the first 4 almost maxed.

Aldurs Set (2 shaels in mace, 2 IAS jewels in helm)
Laying of hands
IK belt
Storm Shielf (15 res)
Inventory full of life and ed charms (I stripped all my characters for him)

Well.. full resist, full block, 85% chance to hit (with lvl 10 enchant)
listed damage is about 1000 - 1500 (very low).. but I dunno if the 350%ed is included and the +550% (200 from mace, 350 from LoH) to demons makes it much higher.

I'm playing single, players 2 mode at level 83, act 4 hell now (players 4 in act 3) and to tell the truth, I love this guy. In some ways, he is more effective than my windy and can handle more diverse situations than him.. granted he takes years to kill bosses.

I love that orange look and the alternative way of playing him. It is effective, just dun expect to kill like a windy all the time. I stopped in Act4 CS because i had serious problems against them venom lords... Big + Fire Immune = only volcano and slowly at that.

Should I use Gores + Gulimane + Crescent moon phase instead (found all in 1 day last week including the 3 sock phase.. must be a sign). THe + skills is just gravy on Aldurs seeing how fast fissure kills non-immunes regardless of 20 or 23.

I use the Aldur's set, and I think it rocks. Ovbiously I wish it did not include a weapon, but I'm a wind druid and I only have to melee against the CI/PI combo Uniques (I've got one weap socketed with lightning damage jewels, and another on switch stuffed with fire damage jewels).

I use the Sigon's shield with a pdiamond, and all my resists were maxxed the moment I put the set on (level 76, for the armor). When I get around to it I'll upgrade to a Lidless with a pdiamond.

Sure, I wish the set included FCR, but there are plenty of rings for that.

Why would anyone use the Aldur's set? Because it's very cheap to acquire if you want to trade for it; and because it immediately gives you a versatile, well-rouded set of stats. I wouldn't use it if I had a melee build, due to the mediocre weapon, but for Fire or Wind druids it's a very good deal - and you can toss your spells as fast as you can & you'll never run out of mana.
