View Full Version : Help me choose my PVPer
I'm about to start a new pvp char after playing the fb/es sorc.
She was kind of dissapointment - mostly because of my pentium 600 voodoo 3 computer and not so good connection.
I also hate the fact she can be almost totally negated with a pair of boots.
I have 3 builds on my mind :
Orb/es - I noticed with my fb/es that I could play defensive with an orber becuase i wont need to aim so well.
Beside the 95% es would be huge relief after the 81% or so on the fb/es.
Wolfbarb - I had one made of 3-4 ist budget a few months ago and he was amazing.
The only disadvantage is not being able to kill necro's nor exile zealots which are both very common.
Rabies/Geddon - Very intresting IMO.
If I can get enough r/w this build could be a new breeze in the Public rooms.
If anyone have any exp with one of those - I want to hear.
I have pretty high budget now so what left to consider is my weak computer and 300 average ping.

The orb sorc would be the most effective overall in that group. Most expensive thing for it would be a fathom, and some nice circlet/amy, but those aren't strictly required.
I like the orb sorc alot more over the fb.
But - did you ever see high budget good skill Rabies/geddon?
I think I'll drop the wolfbarb because the pubbies are flooded with bone necros.

Try a bearsin.. if you are wealthy enough you could give her gear enough to make the fastest thing around.
I've never seen a geddon/rabies, but I have seen fury/rabies and fireclaw/rabies. Both of those work quite well. I would imagine geddon/rabies would be similar to fireclaw rabies, so it Should work. Doubt it would be that expensive either.

i had a flaming rabies druid once. It isnt all that expensive, and it worked moderately well. it wasnt THAT good, but it was definately the most hilarious pvp char ive ever had. I do recommend it though :thumbsup:
dont have a clue 'bout the geddon/rabies, never seen one
I had flaming rabies myself long time ago.
Was pretty neat, but geddon/rabies plays a bit different.
You can ultilize the - resist gear on switch and you need to learn how to maximize the efficency of armageddon in your running patterns.
I agree it wouldn't be very expensive - the big names are both high bramble and enigma in stash and maybe the 10x 40 life shapeshifters. (P death's web too ?)
So atm it's 1-0 for the orber.

I have a suggestion, but it is not on the list of yours, WIND DRUID!
Granted, Wind Druid needs a lot of gears and charms, but if you can afford hoto, 10x ele, enigma and minor stuff like shako, arac, soj, mara etc, then you can make a godly windy druid for pub.

I had a windy, but the combination of both the weak machine I'm using and the bad ping (300 average on clean floor game) made it impossible.
Hurricane just ate my fps.
Now, where do I get this 29% fathom...
Hmm. I don't have a slow computer, but I manage to do well on dialup with 350 ping in a clean game, even more for teleport, and even more than that for a laggy game. :(
Nothing really slows down my fps, but my ping does get screwed by the smallest things.
I just cant tele with my map on and hurricane on.
Anyway, this sorc cost much more then I thought and after today some ists poofed I might need to move to non ladder.
What are the main difference between ladder pubs and non?
Are there any hacks/bugged items that completely change the "balance"?
Main difference would be all the dupes and the bugged items I guess. Nl probably is richer on average as well. Worst bugged things would be wizgloves(exactly what they sound like) on west, and 70/15 mana charms on east. There are also old items like 1.08 valk that make things interesting.
Yeah, and you got all the old cool items like 08 valk, 08 windfore, 08 litesabre, old duped jewelry/boots/gloves.
Haven't seen any .08 lightsabres. Mods?
Theres more duped rares boots/rings/amys/gloves than there are uniques in the game :(
Luis, those items really bring up flashbacks from the past.
Can't forget the 08 valor...

man.. my diabloii.net thing is ALL messed up... getting "you have timed out cannot show data" etc... its crazyness i tell you..i have to press post like a million times just to get it workn.. ANYWAYS..
there is no best pvp character. some characters overpower others.. just how it goes. if you want to pwn rauth go make a trapper with 8k life and 20k lite sent damage. o y adont forget claw block :O
08 lite sabres or sabeR .. first one sounds so much kooler ["c"ooler] are.....

DK, same thing happened to me last year...my dad took away my CD but I just kept thinking about D2...and what characters/stat point allocations/skills/items for when I could start playing again! :lol:

Hah. Only certain things lag my dialup. Shadow masters(or more like the glowyness that appears when you summon them) and bone walls of any sort get me bad. Meteors(the fire left after meteor hit) can as well, but not near as bad as the others. Basically the animation of a dead bone wall, shadow master glow, or meteor fire sticks around as long as someone is within 2-3 screens of it. You have to load it again every time you leave the area and come back(you don't even notice the lagtime on cable, but on dialup its painfully obvious). Around town entrance is always the worst for me since there is Always some bastard sitting there keeping the field from clearing. :(
Edit: good thing I always ctrl-c my posts before posting. Damn thing just stopped loading randomly.
