Which is best: Rock, paper, or scissors?
Asking which character is the best dueler is just plain stupid. There is no definate answer. If there was one build that beat everything, I think that would easily be all that we'd see on bnet.
We all know rock beats all. Paper just sucks, and scissors break.
On the other hand, if you had some sort of plasma scissors I suppose you could take on a rock. :)
So basically, rock beats all unless the scissors use plasma hacks.

Rauth's dueling story of the day:
Had a bvc barb duel me today and just as he was about to die, he teleported away and smacked a rejuv shrine. After that he almost died again, and went to the shrine but it wasn't regenerated so I killed him. He then denied healing at all despite going from next to no health to full, just happening to pass by the juv shrine and have it be taken when it previously wasn't and we were the only people in the game except a pala afking in town.
I guess the invisible sorc in the game aa teleked it. :(

ive noticed how most caster killer barbs have very low dr :/
either that or they just saw chris or blobs in a pub game and built one and has no idea how to use one. :|
Long wws+low life+low dr+tele on me=death. All I did was stand there and spam up. He teled on me and almost died in one go. :(
A good bvc barb has a great chance of beating me without 50dr, but it takes mass life, damage, and short whirls. Chris' damn barb beats me ~50% with no coa and on dialup. If he could telewhirl me I woud have a 1% chance of winning. :)
ioono because i never dueled a caster killer with my windy but is tele wwing better or running in a spiral and wwing in when found an open?

Telewhirling works great when you do a lot of damage and can tank nados well. If you start a good shortwhirl triangle out of the telewhirl, the druid is pretty screwed. Wwing in a triangle dodges nados very well, so he will die well before you do generally.
Running lets the druid tele away and spam all he wants(I can't do that so well because of black screen tele :() and eventually enough will hit you to kill you.

A druid on cable with godly gear can still stand a chance against decent bvc barbs. Being very defensive can give you an edge in this match up but the other person can simply do the same then it's a stalemate.

Using a widowmaker can get a barb the edge easily..even though it does **** damage, it keeps the pressure on.
Ya. I hate having to play defensive. Widowmaker makes most windys think they need to attack you, when really they can just hide behind wolves all day if they want. Standoffs are boring~
Bottom line for that duel though, if druid gets caught by a telewhirl without 3-5 wolves hes probably going to die if barb does triangle whirls well. Fortunately for me, very few barbs do this. :)

Although I am an avid sorc player, the best all-around dueling character is the WW-barb. It has no major weaknesses when properly played and equipped.

You know how much of a wolfbarb fan I am Drake, but the is absolutely no way a wolfbarb can kill a good caster. I said good caster. I've killed dozens upon dozens of casters who were not very good. But there are good players outthere, who can slaughter any melee just because of mobility.
Important traits in a pvper:
Experiance of the player. PERIOD.
Mobility/Speed - Get in Get out, Get out, Catch, So on so forth. I'd rather have a fast character then a slow moving hulk. Ofcourse pure melee duels this is an exeption. FHR RW Cast Rate for speed.
Range - The reason why no wind druid can kill my necromancer. We both teleport. He needs to be ww range to hit me, I can hit him from other side of blood moor (Well no, but still )
Survivalbility - If you die in one hit you allow no room for mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes.
Downtime - If you rely on mana potions, you will lose a long caster duel.
Paths of attack - If you use one skill to win, you can not surprise your opponent. My ww sin has so many paths of attack on her opponents: WW, Kicks, MB, Traps, BoF, Guided arrow to name the most used ones.
Adaptability - Read above.
Then come things like Damage and so on.
The reason why no wind druid can kill my necromancer.

What's the best PvP character?
There isn't any. Some builds do better than others, but nearly all have some opponent with which they have a seriously hard time. If you ask in the individual class forums, you're sure to find someone saying their type of character is the best, but since you'll find this everywhere, it is also sure not to be the truth.

Even better when a necro thinks he can beat me because he killed me while lagging badly. I usually get them to join a private game and show them differently. The only necs I've dueled lately that can back up their godly gear are eternal and some WaC nec who goes 50/50ish with me. I'm sure there are others, I just can't seem to find them. :(

"Best" doesnt always mean which wins the most u know.
Only problem is, if I host a open game, you will have 500+ ping while I have 20, and if you host, I will have even more than I normally do(600+) while you have 20. Its a dialup thing. I guess we could alternate, but I can just about guarentee you will have no chance with 500 ping using a nec vs windy with 20 ping. ;)
If thats not a problem for ya, then let me know and I'll pm my setup to you.
Oh, and I won't be on bnet for the next two days, so no hurry. :)

A_S_G you know when you play counter strike and you get a lag spike so you just spam a round of ak or colt bullets and get like 3 kills? think of rauth as the guy that has massive lag spike :) just that he get lucky too often ;)

I'm going to just give my reasons for supporting WW barbarian, ignoring all other comments in this thread ;)
The only reason I vote WW barb, is simply because I find him to be the most versatile class around. He can survive several Blessed Hammers, unlike many, MANY other classes. He can do very well against nearly any opponent, whether caster or melee, and can be made into hundreds of variations and can use nearly any weapon combination. Most importantly, he looks badass :P
But I'm also in agreement that there is no BEST PvP character, only really good ones. I've said it before and I'll say it again: No matter how good you are, there's always somebody in the world willing to beat the crap out of you.
Best PvP character is hammerdin or poison necro with bramble ume want and full items with poison jewels :)
You should go dueling with me a few times asg. Just to see how many stupidly rich necs get beat by a stupidly slow windy.
I won't lie to get better gear alex ;)
My ladder windy has sexier charms, but I'm going with my nonladder one because I like the overall setup better.

i voted for bonemancers because they are very strong.
but then again i killed my friend's bonemancer repeatedly with my fury druid.
what about fire claws druids? hammerdins? warcry barbs? fury druids? these are all better pvpers then some of the builds in the poll. trapsins come last

Well I find WW barbs to be the best dueler. Although I don't have one-- it seems on my windy even though I have 6k tornado and hit them with like 40 of them- they take like NO damage.. and my WWsin also gets owned by them.

wc barbs have a tough time against necros. not nessessairly breaking the bone armor.. but running outa mana in the process. :)

You can use your ladder windy's charms on your non ladder windy, or any item you have anywhere... because we are working with theory here. My setup is a standart hoto etc one, a little heavy on fhr and mana (Which is a good thing!). Actually I hope all your gear is perfect and stuff, the more like the usual build it is the less work for me!
vs melee chars my summoner owns lol, -im a cheapie with the iron maiden (yes it works) but i get owned by most casters, and if a javazon uses fury its instant death
otherwise fire sorc, windy druid, or boner are the best in my opinion
