What are you doing when it happens? If you switch accounts too often and too quickly you can get one (as from muling and what not)....

You don't need to do anything to get it. Starting Diablo will be plenty enough. We have not been able to log on at all today... Or if we have succeeded in logging on, we have not been able to create games. This must have something to do with the open beta of WoW. Other that that, I can not understand what is going on. Hopefully it will go away soon....

I'm trying to get in too now and it says that NO realm is working! Why does this happen? How long does it generally last for? I want to play :(

i think the mods should post a sticky in the newcomer forums about this realm down thing b/c im pretty sure everyone is a little tired explaining this over and over again...

u get realm down if:
u join too many games within a period of time
u switch chars too many times..

lasts from a few minutes.. to a few hours.. to up to 48 hours.

I disagree.

We are aware players may be experiencing technical difficulties while using Diablo II or Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Players have reported their service will suddenly become interrupted during game play, showing the message “Connection Interrupted”, and then unable to log back on to the Battle.net servers as they receive the message “Realm Down.” These messages may appear as a result of rapidly connecting and disconnecting to Battle.net, creating numerous games within a short time period, and/or by the use of “add-on programs.”

This is a temporary issue and it should resolve itself. We suggest that users refrain from using any sort of “add-ons” or run any other programs while playing Diablo II or any of our other games, as they are not supported and can cause undocumented problems while playing on Battle.net. Also, if you find that your play style includes creating multiple games in a short period of time, please try reducing the number of games you create.

If this issue does not resolve itself after a day or two, or if you are not attempting any of the possible causes mentioned above, please contact us by using our webform and including your account name, realm, and a time frame of how long you have been experiencing this issue.

I disagree.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. However, I was referring to the chaotic behaviour of the battle.net during this weekend in general. Maybe Europe is the only area experiencing this?

00:41UTC While Warcraft III and Diablo players may still experience intermittent connectivity, Diablo games may now again be created. The Battle.net Team is conitinuing to finish restoring stable connectivity to Europe. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

23:45 UTC Customers in Europe are exeriencing "Unable to create game" when trying to create a Diablo II game. This is a known issue and we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

EUR and Northrend customers are experiencing intermittent Battle.net service. The Battle.net team is aware of this issue and we appreciate your patience while we restore the realm to full working order.

Overall, I'm not sure if bnets problems over the past few days are a cause of the realm downs (although they might be). When I was on west yesterday, it was abit more laggier than usual, and I was booted from a game once, but I was never booted from bnet or gotten a realm down error.

I still stand by my belief that a user must have actually done something to receive a realm down, whether it's created games too fast, switch between characters too fast, or used a 3rd party program.

The battle net status report that you linked might have been Quantumcat's problem, though, and I hope that he was able to log on now.
