Weird build - zeal/traps

I was looking at the passion rw the other day and was trying to think up ways to use it's +to zeal. I came up with this:

Skills:
20 Venom
Enough bos for breakpoint
20 LS
20 DS
Rest in SM
If left with more after that, rest in trap synergy

Equipment:
Weapon: "Passion" phase blade
Shield: SS
Gloves: Trangs
Rings:Bk/raven
Ammy: Highlords (?)
Belt: Dungo? String?
Helm: lot of choices here - andy's? shako? vamp gaze? coa?
Armor: again, lots of choices - bramble? CoH? Duress?
Boots: Goreriders (?)

Stats:
Str: For gear
Dex: max block
Vit: rest
Energy: none

Basically put down some traps and then start zealing being the main idea.

As you can see, I'm having some trouble deciding on gear. You would need a few +skills to get to max zeal swings, so I'm leaning towards shako or andys for helm. However, I could also get those skills from CoH, but I'm really liking Duress. Oh, and I've seen different things on different websites, so is Duress ladder-only? If it is, then I'll have to go with something else.

Does anybody know of a ias calculator that works with zeal on sins?

Any comments? questions? concerns? Do you think it will work?

Edit: I suppose it would work okay in pvp. They definitely won't expect it. They'll see that its a trapper, so try to get up close. Then, surprise! zeal! Zeal will also keep them still for a moment, giving your traps a chance to hit.

It could work but youd have to use Angelics,demon limb,and some sort of gear that would give you an AR bonus.

Youll need to pump all LS synergies if you want it to do any sort of damage.

Your physical damage wouldnt be too high.

Also since venom's duration is about 10 frames and max attack speed on zeal is 4fpa, u are wasting over 50% of venom's low damage. U would probably be better off mixing cb into the mix instead, the rapid attack is close to a kickers, and this way u can get off multiple cb's. However as the other person said, ur trap damage will be low w/o multiple sources of + trap skills, and u are gonna have some ar issues that are easily addressed but hurt u in other areas like resists, and + skills. U would also probably need very high ll or a high cs because ur physical damage will be so low.

I would never say it wouldnt work because any build is based on patience, and testing, but it may be difficult and fairly underpowered.

I did this build about 6 months ago. Kinda fun really and looks on peoples faces makes it worthwhile.


Equipment:
Weapon: Make passion in a cryptic sword. Fast and more damage.
Shield: SS
Gloves: Lava
Rings:Bk/raven (I used raven and duel leach)
Ammy: I liked Atma
Belt: String
Helm: Orphan's set the only way to go
Armor: GA (saves lots of dex points for max block)
Boots: Goreriders

Stats:
Str: A lot increases damage. Get 150-200
Dex: max block
Vit: rest
Energy: none

Max the Shadow and venom put about 5-10 points in COS. Put points into DS for body cleanup and more killing power. Remeber that Tiger Strike, Cobra Strike, Phoenix Strike don't need claws and can be helpful for some players.

With a might merc using Doom you are awesome. Even without doom you're good.

Alternate equip if you want to use more traps than melee.

Shield: Medusas gaze
Amulet: Highlords
Helm: Shako
Rings: Raven, Soj (need the mana)
Armor: Consider Duress to get back some CB

Max SM, LS, DS and FADE. The medusa's gaze will more than make-up for unmaxxed syns.

No it's not Ladder only, but it will only work on the Battle.net Realms. It will not work for single or open characters.

the main thorn on this build seems to be a lack of ar, the zeal speed with a cryptic sword + andariel's visage and bos is pretty insane, I went more with dracul's for the % of LT and it casts pretty often, I suggest if this build were to be used to put alot of +dex +ar small, large and grand charms in, but with a blessed aim merc you can get 19k easy :thumbsup:
