I dont know if this is the correct forum to post this in or not but here it goes

I have two cd keys and would like to run 2 copies from the same comp. I have XP. If this is a hack (not legit) just say so and i wont do it. The problem is the two computer in my house are on two different lvls so that makes alot of stairs if im trying to rush myself.

thx in advance

Well, as long as you have two full copies of d2x (all 4 cd keys) there is nothing illegal about it. To do it is actually pretty simple with xp. All you need to do is utilize the user switch option. I'm assuming you already have it installed on the main user, so all you need to do is create another user profile, and install the second set. You will need to do some file renaming to allow this to happen. First, you need to rename the original users file (should be "Diablo II" in the Program Files. I just made it "Diablo II #1" or something like that. Then switch over and install the second one and name the folder something else ("Diablo II #2" was mine). Then switch back and rename #1 to it's original (so your shortcuts still work). And you're done. You might have to make a new shortcut on the second profile if you made one in the first place, but that isn't hard. I probably made this sound more complicated that I needed to, but if you have any other questions, let me know.

No problem. It makes life a little easier, doesn't it? It doesn't get rid of all the "Connection Lost" problems, and all, but it certainly makes muling and self-rushing easier, lol. And as a side note, you can only edit posts for one hour after creation, after that you just have to make a new one. Just so you know.

Hey, I also have 2 copies of diablo, right now I run 1 of my wifes computer and when I rush I have to leen over and thats a drag.
Now I installed the #2 copy on a new profile on my Windows PX and renamed the files as you said. How do I switch over like you describe ?

I believe there are...3 ways to do it. One is to go to Start, then Log off, then pick "User Switch". Two, hit control L (Can't do while in game, have to minimize first). And 3, I don't remember, but I'm thinking it's through the task manager somehow. (control-alt-delete). Just don't actually log off in the process of any of this. It might give you an error or something, but it might also just kick you out of the game. Not able to test right now. Good luck!

If it still wont let u switch mindgem go to start-controlpanels-user accounts-the one about loggin in- and make sure that there is a check in the box that allows user switch. This may be your problem. If that is checked then all you have to do is go to start menu logout and it should give u the option of switching. Hope that helps!

Hey guys ,i also a had similar problem when i was trying to somehow run 2 diablos on 1 pc and finnally i realized that is possible, but i dont have any clue how Distancepiaman did that.

I use a program called diablo loader, i got all 4 cd keys so actually i think i am not breaking any rules, duno if this is somehow hack or prohibited,, but after muling some chars, loosing a lot of stuff and get the lost connect thingy i find this way to mule now necessary and more safe,

I dont see how this could be prohibited or hacked, aniway, i dont even use a map hack animore for almost 2 years.

ANyone get this glitch?

my d2 window keeps minimizing itself. Not certain as to why and I am 100% sure I am not hitting the windows key everytime to make it minize either.
THanks for any thoughts on the subject.

What are you doing when it minimizes? (Not holding down alt to see items on ground and accidentally pressing tab are you? That would do it.)

No. It just minimizes. It actually takes effort to hit alt-tab, so accidently hitting is not the problem.

Usually seems like it conveniently minimizes most when i am in a pack of monsters...so when I return...i am usually dead, but no, it actually seems just random every 30-50 seconds. I am not understanding why.
