I cant seem to find the search button ... and when i search the faq area i get no results. So the question is ... how does open wounds work exactly? Does it drain more life off of an opponnent if they have higher life or does it drain life at the same speed? And what is that speed? Any help w/ this is appreciated.

Er i'm a noob for not helping you answer this.

Open Wounds A type of physical damage, it has a poison-like effect, causing "uncontrollable bleeding" and steady hit point drain. The damage will stack with poison so both can drain at once. It also stops healing for the duration.
Diablo II: The damage is very low, around 2 per second, and it lasts from 3-11 seconds and does from 7-21 damage, sliding scale based on level of the attacker.
Expansion: Much improved, the new formula is:
(Attacker level * 9 + 40)/256 pts of damage per frame over 4 seconds

There are 25 frames per second in the Diablo II engine. Examples of damage:
Clvl 10: 12.7 per sec over 4 seconds for a total of 50.8 damage.
Clvl 30: 30.3 per sec over 4 seconds for a total of 121.0 damage.
Clvl 50: 47.9 per sec over 4 seconds for a total of 191.4 damage.
Clvl 70: 65.4 per sec over 4 seconds for a total of 261.7 damage.
Clvl 90: 83.0 per sec over 4 seconds for a total of 332.0 damage.

Like poison, Open Wounds doesn't stack, but resets with each new application. It also prevents healing for the duration.

Always 4 seconds. Do note that the damage listed above is FALSE!~

I could find the exact damage from battle.net/diablo2exp, but for some reason that site is giving me cr@p. But the time is the same no matter what. If the critter your hitting has 100 or 1000 hp, it would drain off the exact amount at the same speed.

If you prefer per second, just multiply by 25:
Clvl=1-15: 25*(9*Clvl+31)/256
Clvl=16-30: 25*(18*Clvl-104)/256
Clvl=31-45: 25*(27*Clvl-374)/256
Clvl=46-60: 25*(36*Clvl-779)/256
Clvl=61-99: 25*(45*Clvl-1319)/256

this is what i found at arreat summit.

Just wondering, is that based on attacker level, or target's level? I'm thinking it's attacker level but I'm not sure.
