View Full Version : hardest hitting monster... tresh socket?!

my meteorb (lvl 87) got 1-hit killed by thresh socket yesterday. she's was at ~700 live when he bi7chslapped me. well i was cursed so that attack would roughly be ~350 dmg?! i don't remember for sure but he probably was extra strong, too.

sometimes he's pretty neat and with other mods he beats the crap out of my merc with 2 hits.

baal does 266 max with his melee attack, so im' really wondering:

how hard does that guy hit?
any ideas?

It may have been a critical hit. All monsters get a 5% chance of critical hitting on any attack, and that will do double damage (all damage, not just physical). Stacked with Cursed, it can be pretty mean. Extra Strong too? Ouch.

Thresh's base type (Siege Beast) does 131-206 damage in Hell. If he was Extra Strong that is multiplied by 2.5 so a range of 327-515. Not sure how much PDR you're carrying but that might have been enough even without a crit hit.

Thresh's max dmg = 204
Extra Strong = 510

and then curse takes effect

total dmg: 510*2 = 1020dmg
and that's without the 5% critical hit

that's without any other mods on him. Might, Fanat, Holy Fire, Holy Freeze, Holy Shock, Spectral Hit, FE, CE, LE would all have added more dmg.

so in conclusion: :scared:

If you are getting those numbers from AS, they are wrong. They think Thresh is mlvl 81; he is not, he is mlvl 84. But it doesn't make a very big difference.

I'll bet the hardest hitting monster is Lester the Tormenter. He always gets my non-shield hell characters down. Heh, Tresh Socket is a funny monster. :drool:

well anyway, i think thresh seduced my sexeh sorc so she layed herself on the ground and took her clothes of and sent me back to town for some undisturbed extra stong plateau love. :scratch:
