the question is, should i go block or vita on my untwinked skelemancer. obviously this question has been asked a lot, but i would like some input on how to go for untwinked play. in case it matters, hes in act 3 nm, which means lots of meph runs, but the chances of a homu dropping will be rare.

oh btw, keep in mind i play sp.

Assuming summoner?
Actually now that I think about it, it doesn't matter too much either way.
Without trangs or humonc you're going to be not blocking regardless.
The other feasible option is Rhyme necro head has somewhat decent block, so you could go for like 60% block reasonably with it on the off chance that you do ever end up with a homunc.
But really it doesn't matter overly much if you're blocking or not with a summoner. I prefer to block, others think it's a waste of life (albiet only about 200 or so).

Oh, and a 4 pd shield of some sort could be a reasonable 50% or so block if you need the resists if you want to wish for homunc.

edit: I read the bold untwinked and my eyes skipped over the word skelemancer...just for the record ^^

I'd say go for vita.. it's a lot of dex unless you find the right shield, but as Mouse said, Rhyme is a great option and isn't that tough to make either. If I was a PnB on the other hand.. I would go for block, but with many minions I would feel safe enough without it and would keep more life for elemental attacks that break through your skeles.

i play /players 8 and so far ive had zero problems with the lack of block, but i was concerned whether or not i would need the blocking for hell. i will more than likely end up dumping my unspent points into vita. then a homunc will drop and ill possibly regret it...

My necro has 350++ points in Vita, I don't regret it and yes, I have homunc. He soloes perfectly, he's great, has 1.1k+ life at 82.

Go for vita, it's safe, easy, and you can take quite a few hits.

The only concern I ever have with maxing dex for max block is that if you are running all bets are off. So if you're gonna do a summoning Necro, well, he don't move around too much so it wouldn't be a big problem.

I prefer to max life. Life, Life, Life
