hybrid being born

so started makin a hybrid bear couple days ago... not the usual rabies/fury werewolfy... but more challanged build of maul/fc werebear....
scored 10 shapeshift gc on west ladder for 10puls 4 prebuff... (thought was aight cheap) ... then got a couple with 37+life mods.. then couple of 10max/84ar/36life gcs...(found them) .... i THINK the build is going to be interesting..since there aint any on uswest ladder... nor have i seen any around....
This is prolly covered in Victus werebear guide (yet-to-be-seen) but i couldnt wait...!! wanted a teddy to play with since i was little...

skills:
FC-max
Firestorn-max
Lycan-max
Maul-max
those are the main skills... you could lay off the maul (15ish) n put those points into summons if you wish.. to distract those multi-target attacks... OR you could just level up more :idea:
werewolf-1 (pre)
feral rage-1 (pre)
werebear-1 (no more is needed.. since the bonus each level gives is very insignificant)
raven-1 (suggest get 5 with items/charms)
spirit wolves-1 (suggest get 5 with items/charms)
i didnt choose a spirit (i should?) is because when dueling ebotd ww barbs etc.... the spirit DIES b4 i start clicking my mouse.... so errr?! not point really.. might as wel spend those points on lyc for passive +hp or minions to piss them off, or go for more def/dmg.


gears:
helm- Jalals (res/fhr/+stats..all which is much needed)
armor- STONE runeword (for its lvl16 boulder synergy)
shield- SS (shaeld...the extra frame DOES help..)
weapon- I had a lil trouble with this one, thinking a 4shaeld gris caddy could do the job at 5fpa (yes it can!!), but also a nice 6soc phaseblade(15%sup. 3+ar) could get 4fpa in exachange for a bit less physical dmg.
gloves- Draculs.. (since this is a MAUL/fc hybrid..i thought the OW on this glove would be nice.. since the fc dmg wont be as high as a pure fc bear.. ALSO the +15strength is very nice)
boots:
1) Wartravs (again, this is a hybrid build..having the extra added dmg from travs is better than DS from gores, as DS% is very low and dmg is low..wartrav gives strength/vit +10..a bonus again..)
2) ETH Stormtreks- This is again because of the bonus stats and fhr.. if youre aiming for the 153(or 154ish)fhr mark.. then this would help greatly, also against your fellow brother rabies werewolf this could help.
rings/ammy- anglics combo for obvious reasons.. since us werebarez GREATLY lacks AR
belt:
1) Verdungos- For the fhr.. if your aiming for the next frame... and the dr% and vit bonus...
2) Trangs- just simply for the life and CNBF mod
3) Arachnid Mesh- The plus skill is VERY helpful on the fc dmg/ar AND it slows down opponent (if its allowed in your duelin area), great

stats:
strength- should be very low, since you should've got +strength from jalals(20)/draculs(15)/boots(10+)/stone armor(16).. just a little over 100 should be fine for your shield SS(156 req)
dex- as little as possible for max block.. remember u get at least 10dex from anglic combo.. and could get more from other areas...
vit- ALL here... 280+ is nice
energ- again.... non...

NB: THIS build is NOT cheap, as it usually requires at least 4+ shapeshift gcs (no mods needed), some steel small charms of vita..this build really depend on its charms.. (becoming the lamish town guarding bowazon..?!)

With this build, i did 5k++ FC dmg.. and much more when charged with maul!!(ok this was with buriza at lvl52)...
i have around 18k ar.. which is sufficient for most duels and attacks at either 4~5fpa..... when facing smiters or caster, switch to a 6socket giant thresher (i think some sort of scythe would do the trick also.. not sure tho?!) to get maximum range and hack away with FC, as you prolly wont last long enough to get a good charge on maul....
I estimate i would do around 6k FC.. hopefully 8~9k total dmg at 4fpa with 18~22k ar at higher level....
sorry that i havent got time to level my teddy up all the time..

i wil post the full complete stats of my hybrid up once he's at lvl85.. or close to it

I'd say swap the Draculs gloves for some nice rare/crafted 20IAS stat and resist gloves as bears and wolves seem to be weak on resists.

I don't think you'll get anymore then 4k Fireclaws IIRC, I tested a build like this before and I think 6k is too high to aim for, though you advocate maxing firestorm so who knows.

Maybe you could use Cerberus' bite instead of Jalals for some O/W? what you loose in damage I'm sure you'll make up in O/W as you already said, your physical damage will be low and when you start counting in Fire resist/absorb then its unlikely that the bear will be wowing anybody, personally I would integrate alot more FR/W and O/W.

I have a level 87 Unstated/Unskilled drOOd whos build I've been pondering over for some time, If I can get hold of the gear I'll try testing it too.

EDIT: oO, I just tested this build with on S/P, granted a slight change in some areas to your original plan but its boasting 7.4k FC dmg O_O

this hybrid build has already been born.
Victus thought of this build during the early stages of 1.10,
he managed to get some impressive damage on both counts.

the fc/maul bear would probably be in his main section of the guide... if only he shows some sign of life.

I believe you can hit 5 frame maul w/ 3 x ed/ias + shael caddy .... might want to check up on that though.


edit: im also making one of these atm but i'm going a lil differnt rounte. Im melee vs. melee based (not sure if you are or not). So I went

max: lycan, oak, werebear,maul, firestorm. And i want to get 1 into ravens, spirt wolves. Possible w/ a high lvl.

Went all vit. build. Reason I went this rount is b/c Im hoping to reach around 7-8k life w/o bo. And with life this high, If i can incorperate cb/ow on my gear I think it will help even up the build.

Gear .. im on ladder so he wont be all that.

up'ed gores (for cb/ow/ds)
Highlords vs druids, or angelics vs. barbs/pallys.
Rends or Dracs (Prob. Rends b/c Dracs have chance to cast lt, but i like the ow on it)
Jalals or Cerebus ..... still dont know about this yet (whichever it is prob. be cham'ed)
Ravens x 2 or angelics x 2 OR good crafted rings.

I really want a 110 ed/ias pb but i dont know if im willing to go through the hassle to get the jewels. I like the pb .. more old school. I've also considered a 5 frame pb's like this:

3 x sheal + xx/ias + 2 x um
OR
3 x shael + xx/ias + 2 x Lo

But I really havent decided on what to do yet for the weapon either :scratch: .

to Anger-DRS- basically i said b4 was NO .. no point of using ias gloves... since you dont get the ias from other than your weapon...jalals is a MUCH better helm than cerebus... as you would need a PERFECT (4/120%ar) cerebus to even try n match with jalals... jalals provides res/fhr/+strength/2+all (4 summons)...!! cerebus is only good for OW....n also i do around 5~6k PURE fire dmg from fc.....mayb you didnt see what i noted by this build would only b godly with shapeshift gcs.... (got 10 for 10puls on west ladder :D)

to Voice- great seeing some1 is tryin to make the similar build hybrid..
i wouldnt use steelrends n gores because firstly.. you physical dmg wouldnt be high.. therefore rendering the ED on the reds pretty much useless..(and the high stength req...)..gores gives a lil DS n CB.. thought useful...its not as usefull as OW (for dealing physical dmg)..wartrav/treks gives much better useable stats n bonuses....using Highlords and 2perf ar raven would NOT get you enough ar to hit as often as you like...(maybe those 1k def wolfs? or is there any?!)... MUST use anglics combo... sorry but no substition ther...since the maul ar is pathetically LOW!.... also.. having um or lo in your pb wouldn't help you out as much as you prolly hoped... since your physical dmg is low.. having low % DS.. doubling the dmg wont be great...of all 3 DS CB OW mods.. only OW is considered most useful in duels...

...... and no....120% mite SEEM like a lot.. but if you tested both of them out on MAUL ar.... its not really much of a difference sadly :(...

I disagree w/ some of your ideas. I'll tell ya why.

First angelics is only necessary for barbs and pallys. You should be able to hit 10-13k ar w/o them and I find that plenty vs. wolves. My fc bear didnt use them and rarely lost a melee duel. So I'm keeping highlords on switch to go vs. wolves.

Cerebus isnt necessarily the better helm. Sure it only gives 2 mods but it has its uses in sittuations. I got a near perfect one so i think im gonna try them both.

Since when does open wounds on a sword not help? (refering to uming pb)

I wont be using dracs since they are considered bm'ed. So im gonna be using Rends. I think they will do the job nicely.

I know all about the trav. thing. I been telling people to do it forever. However if i can get 8k life i think the cb + ow + ds will do better than a lil extra damage. Especially if im duelin a barb or druid since they both have extremely high life. I'm gonna test them both but i really think gores will do better in my situtation.

And to end ... I think there is a huge difference in our build. I am trying to get around 2k+ physical damage along w/ 6k fire damage. Mainly b/c if I feel if I dont try to balance the two I will be basically a fc druid.

I've seen a few duelers do this build decent, and they all try and balance the damage, so thats what I'm gonna try to do.
