Where do the online "item stores" that sell runes and items for money get so many of them? Do they actually have people sitting and playing the game for hours every day? Or do they have a secret that I'm not aware of. Not that I'm dumb enough to spend money on stuff for a computer game, but it'd be nice to know if theres a better way to get stuff.

These stores can dupe or hack the items. They can then sell these illigitamate (sp?) runes on their site.
They dupe, or buy them for some place cheaper, then sell again.

so can all items be duped, or just runes or something, since I always hear people asking about the origin of the runes but never something like that on regular items (this is on ladder btw).
thanks
Everything has been duped, nowadays dupers just don't bother with unique/set items since they're less valuable and harder to trade than high runes. Some charms like 3max/20ar/20 life and 290 poison small charms have duped in horrendous amounts as well.

A EBay seller is very dumb if he sells duped runes. If he does do that he will get bad credits on his account (poof goes the rune). A Ebay seller is much more happy with good credits. Therefore they don't sell duped runes (if their smart). If they do, you can see that in their credits.
How do they get the runes than? I don't know, botting I should think.

runes dont go "poof" if you know how to perm them, once u socket them (and i dont care if any of u disagree) will NOT poof. just perm the runes and keep them safe on a mule and keep them off bnet until u socket them.
the easiest way i can think of getting the high runes (u have to have the runes first in order to dupe them) is rushing massive chars to hell forge all day (using the ancients glitch) and getting rich on ists and guls (gul is the highest that can drop from hell forge) and transmuting.

Ok, bye bye now, hope you had a nice time on this forum. Thanks for messing up the realms with dupes. Hope you have fun in the rest of your now very boring Diablo II LOD experience. :howdy:

you just promoted duping runes, they don't like that here. I think I can predict the future..
im not sure if i did...i just said with the proper handling you can prevent poofing.

Maybe I misread then, but you have to carefull in these parts. People don't take kindly to duping and/or hacking around here.
My apologies if I misread.
./edit some even regard discussing methods to perm duped runes illigal, which in my opinion is a bit to wild.
yea, i just cant stand it when people say dupes ALWAYS poof, because they dont if u know what to do with them. im not promoting duping, just letting people know duped stuff isnt a worthless trade

The sad truth is that there is a grey area on what level of dupe discussion is allowed or tolerated. I don't think he's trying to advocate duping, but it's a moot point.
From what I understand, there is no way to perm a rune. I have heard that people perm duped items the way you mentioned, but it takes tons of cash, and you had to perm in every game. EVERY GAME? That makes it not worth it anyway.
To the original poster-- It's a combination of both in my opinion. Botting is easy, and you can run multiple bots on one computer with multiple cdkeys at once. Imagine going to a real job and having 3 or four computers rushing chars to hellforge and doing countess and hell runs for runes 24 hours a day.
*sigh* Please read this (http://forums.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=270066) topic, oby, and anyone else that insists that socketing a rune perms it. It is not guaranteed that the rune, or even the item itself and any other runes in it, will not go poof after a while.
once u socket them (and i dont care if any of u disagree) will NOT poof.
That's why my friend's Enigma turned into an "ith" armor.
The Jah and Ber poofed, the enigma properties were still there, except the ones from the Jah/Ber, he was unable to take the armor off, and when he left the game it poofed.

dupes are worthless, as they don't actually "exist" for good, honest legit folks

Dang... I didn't even know items could poof, show's how much of a newb I am. I'm glad I read this, because it'd suck if I ever actually bought something form one of those stores and it poofed on me. I guess that's another reason not to buy items and mf em legit-like.

ok guy, even though i have tons of dupes that work fine.

That thing you saw wizzing over you head was baranor's point.

k............
I've seen duped runes go poof. Sometimes the item it was socketed in also goes poof, but not always. Just what I've heard, seen, hasn't happened to me. I've heard of a couple of ways to prevent the runes from going poof, but I don't think I want to get into that. If all the dupes did go poof do you think we would still see all the Enigmas, BotDs and other high runewords that are out there today?
