When you make a Metal Golem, either as a Necro or using Metalgrid, how can you determine what is the best weapon to use to make it? What I mean is which attributes of the weapon will the golem take on when it forms?

if u sacrifice a weapon.. the golem will get the attributes of that weapon and increase its damage.
if u sacrifice an armor.. the golem will get the attributes of that armor and increase its defense.

depends on what build you use. Def cant be wrong, damage cant either. Dont know if ll works on them though.
The ultimate would ofc be using some weapon with an aura stuck to it (beast, azurewrath, doom etc.) for a bonus aura...
However, this might be a little brave, since if the golem dies, its lost. Same if you die... careful!! :cheesy:

I think you would get the best answer on necromancer forum, I'm sure there's someone with a full list of modifiers that iron golem gets from the item it's made of.

Yes, definately ask this in the Necro forum - they'll probably give you a top 100 list. :D

Personally, I like to make mine out of IK Mauls. The crushing blow mod helps get a monster or two dead in a hurry so I can make the rest of them go splat with Corpse Explosion. The big +% Damage to Demons mod is great for boss running as well.

However, this might be a little brave, since if the golem dies, its lost. Same if you die... careful!

If you're using Spiky in conjunction with a skelliemancer-type build, the golem is usually well protected and won't die very often - even if you're just going 1/1 in IG/GM.
Nonetheless, I wouldn't recommend using expensive and valuable high-end items.
