View Full Version : Claw/Claw or Hoto/Shield for PVP Light Trapsin?
I've been thinking alot about this and imo the hoto/shield is more versatile. So what do you guys think?

Rich: Claw/claw
Poor: Sanct/SS+Hoto

Sup BP Enigma
40Hoto
um'd SS

hows your matchup against casters with hoto/shield?
if its still around the same as claw/claw then go hoto/shield

Typical. This is a very uneducated answer for two reasons. The first is that I could pull dual trap claws from anya, but I can't literally BUY a hoto, ss, or sanctuary. My trapsin uses Hoto/Ber'd SS for melee, and Hoto/Sanc for casters. When I absolutely need the huge trap dmg, and done have to worry about getting hit, I switch to dual trap claws. But 99% of the time I use hoto/shield. Anyone who pvps more than once knows the importance of a shield
not only that. Good trappers abuse their ability to mass mind blast. with duel claws its really hard to get a lot of mana/get fcr/fbr. overall weapon/shield is just better. you really dont need th extra 2-3k damage when your guy is already shooting at 9-10k O___o
I dunno. Good c/c and c/s ones own me equally ;)
Without fast mind blast, trappers aren't near as effective, although I suppose you could manage decent fc with dual claws(20circlet, 20gloves,20 belt, 20 ring). There really isn't a build that does worse against a c/c than a c/s but there are definitely builds that do better against a c/c than a c/s. Ww barb is the perfect example.

I think it depends on whether you'll use enigma. If you do, the xtra fcr will help. If not, I think claw block from 2x claws will be better.

I think what Roc means by c/c are those really rich people. Ive seen people who use +2 +3ls 2 15/15 jewls fare much better than hoto/shield. A good trap sin shouldn't be getting hit by ww anyways. The *** fcr bp is 102. Using griff (for fcr, 2 fcr rings, 20 fcr ammy, spider, trangs, the assassin reaches 102) The extra 7 skill points to ls is very hard to go agianst. Hoto doesn't add that much mana. Course during the ocassional godly barb u just cant beat u can use shield and hoto. Just my 2 cents
Oh Olc Even though u cant buy a hoto or ss or sanc a +2 +3 ls claw is probably worth more than 20 hotos. Not to mention the jewls inside are worth just like 10 hotos each.

Exactly. 3trap/3LS socketed with 2x15res/15IAS claws > HoTO/SS
Crappy plain 3trap claws with crappy jewels < HoTO/SS
Basically C/C vs Hoto/Shield
Hoto/Shield Advantages:
Cheap to get
Can get mass resists/DR and use BOS instead of fade
75% block, not ~60%
More Skill Points (no weapon block)
Hoto/SS disadvantages
Build Requires Dex (for block) = less life
Less damage
C/C Advantages
Damage
more life (no dex)
Blocks elemental attacks with block
C/C Disadvantages
can be SUPER expensive (2x good claws and 4x good jewels)
Less block (60% vs 75%)
Needs more skill points (weapon block)
Probably needs fade because of low DR/Resists (no BOS)
If you consider advantages and disadvantages, you will quickly see that unless you have 2x godly claws, going C/C when you have SS/HoTO available is dumb.
