new sort of hack?

A few days ago, in a public duel game, a barb entered and hostiled everyone. He was really powerfull and won all duels he took part. The strange thing was that he was not wearing any weapon at all (at least, no weapon was to see). He was punching! How can that be? Is there any new sort of hack out there? Or what is the trick? :scratch:

Im not sure on this, but it is my understanding that if you get some of your attribute points from charms, there is a bug that causes your weap not to appear. Its the same with an IK barb that uses charms to meet str requirements, other people in the game wont see his aura. This may or may not be what is happening, but it is a possibility particularily in the case of high requirement items that he might have been wearing.

Ok guys Before you start saying about new hacks have a quick look at the known bugs in the game.
What you have encountered is commonly know as the strength bug. Its why some zons appear to "throw" arrows when in fact they are firing a Wind Force Bow at you and why some IK barbs look a little funny.
The ik barbs in fact look "naked" or de-geared but still have the IK aura around themselves. It happens when your character doesn't have enough base Str to equip their gear. Ie the character gets their str from charms. This will make the character appear "naked" to everyone but the person using the character. A lot of good dueling barbs use BASE strength and get all their required Str from items such as annhilus, enigma and botd.

Interesting! I never heard of that bug. It only happens when STR comes from charms? What kind of barb build could he be using? Seemed very efficient, at least in BvB...

easy way to do it is build a barb around enigma, then use a different armor.

I keep hearing about the strength bug but I know for a fact it doesn't work at least for me. My ww IK barb is level 83 and I have 1 +5str charm I use to get his gear on. When I take the charm out and put it in my stash the armor and maul go red and my attack/damage, etc... go down accordingly. I have even tried going out and killing and that does nothing, I go from 3 hits to kill to infinite hits required (as in I don't hit for enough damage in hell so they heal before i hit again).

Am I missing something about the bug, or is this how it works with other people and just not me?

munroebagger -- the bug only works if the item you switch in gives a bonus to strength to support itself. for example, if your ik armor was socketed with a +strength item, you could THEN remove your charm and it would work.

here is an example of the str bug in action::

I have a barb that other ppl say looks "naked" in games. He is using a weapon that grants strength. In order to equip this weapon initially, i used several charms and other items to boost up his str to what the weapon requires as base. When the item is equipped, his str goes up past what it needs to be to use the weapon. Then i took off the charms, so that the str bonus from the weapon was in effect, allowing the weapon to be equipped.

basically, like [exile] said, when an item gives stat bonuses that are needed to support itself, other players see you as "naked"
