View Full Version : Should I socket my GA with a 4/5 Fire Die Facet?
I'm contemplating socketing my GA with a 4/5 Fire Die Facet. What do you expert gamers think? I'm a Level 86 Zealot armed with Baranar's Star and a HoZ. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

well i think it would be a waste of a fire facet and a socket, unless your a holy fire zealot its pretty much useless and holy fire just doesnt match up to holy shock or freeze
Ahh, a cold facet would be better? Alternatively, I've found myself a +9 Min Dmg / +15 All Res jewel. Thinking of socketing my B.star with that one. I could use the extra res. What do you guys think?
Speaking of which, can I socket a non-weapon with a jewel which gives + Min/Max Dmg?

a facet would be a waste in a GAngel in my opinion. I would put something more useful such as an Um or resist jewel.

No, resist jewels should go in weapons... if you want resists on your armor or helm, use an Um, and on your shield a diamond.... if your gonna stick the jewel in your armor... you would be better off trading it for 2 Um's and putting an Um in the armor.... Jewels are the only way to get resists in your weapon.... use it there

Thanks for the responses. I'm still undecided as to what to do at the moment. I may just socket a PDiamond into my GA and the jewel into the B Star but I wonder whether it would be worth the sockets.
Can I really get 2 Ums for the jewel?

I'm sure if it was a 5/5 you could... cause I would pay you 2 Ums for it probably :) .. but even a 4/5 Die... that should be an easy sell to any fire sorc. I would go with the Um in GA armor..... it's a solid choice and because you get 15% to your max resists.... it will be tough to reach 90% with no resists on your armor.

A bit late, but don't put a perfect diamond in your Guardian Angel (or any other body armor). You'll waste a perfectly good pgem and presumably a Hel. Diamonds in armor give attack rating, not resists.
I question the need to put a res jewel in a weapon. Sure, an Um would go great with a GA, but that jewel gives more resistance than even an Um... and the +9 min damage still applies even if the jewel is in body armor. So, unless you *really* need 14 more resist, don't worry about sticking the jewel in your GA; it'll be fine.
Also, if you ever feel the need to stick pdiamonds in your body armor, just give them to me instead. :)
LOL! I actually realised that soon after that post. Have decided not to socket anything at the moment. Saving my pgems, facets, Hels etc. :) Thanks for the heads-up WuffWhacker :)
