Why is Smite considered bad manners?

I run into alot of people who hostile me right away and when I start smiting them they run off and complain or if I win they say "melee only noob"....wtf?

Melee means toe to toe fighting doesn't it?

Smite doesn't get much more toe to toe.....

How is it that so many people think smite is broken?

Smiters can be beaten....I don't understand all the whining and complaining.

Can anybody explain it to me nicely?

Most people don't consider smite to be very fair in melee duels. It has ITD, and stun, so fury droods, zealots etc have very, very little chance vs a smiter. That doesn't mean it isn't melee (imho ofcourse), but it is rather unfair melee against most classes.

Smite can be blocked by fury assy's, javazons.

Also, smite doesn't stun but induce the effect that ANY OTHER damage done to the target while he's "stunned" (swirlies) other than by smite will put him into hit recovery (what you think is stun) (by overriding the 1/12th of max hp in dmg requirement to stun).

Also, KB desyncs a bit so people don't like that either.

Yes, claw block can block smite. Zons can dodge it with passives, but can't block it.

Well... Back then everybody used either Fury or a weapon with an eth in it, so basically anybody had ITD.

I never have, nor will I ever, call Smite "BM". It is a skill just like any other. Everyone has an equal oportunity at it. Granted, I shake my head at smiters who join Zeal Pk games and think they're hot stuff for taking out zealots. Still, Temple dueling has taught me some methods of fighting Smiters with Zealots, and if that doesn't work, I have a V/T that completely rips apart most pubbie smiters.

I dueled a necro with a ton of skeletons and he was like 10 lvls higher than me. He called it cheating when I charged him and killed him in two hits thus killing all his skeletons. I didnt give a damn because he was raising skeletons while I was killing them off. So I wasnt getting any where any ways.

Its a skill. USE IT. But only when its a duel game meant for anyone.
