I'm getting bored of playing some random games and Baal running feels boring after baaling one character to level 98. So I was thinking about getting MFing group together where we would MF together and share drops. I had MFing group in last ladder season for some time. Target areas to clear were River of Flame and CS. It was a nice run for the reason that it ended up in killing Diablo for more drops. Our group had following members:
1. Hammerdin (using off aura skillers instead of combat)
2. WF bowazon with MS and/or strafe and 100% pierce
3. Necro with maxed CE, AD, SM and RS
4. Barbarian with very high MF and Find Item
The strategy was that first 3 characters were geared to max killing speed with reasonable MF like 250+%. Well necro had like 600% mf and very high Gold Find. Paladin's Concentration aura gave about 675% to damage. Might merc gave another 200%. Add AD from necro to that and we had a nice wrecking crew. Barbarian was our item collector and he horked all bosses and their packs. Barbarian's inventory was almost empty and others had full inventory. In the process of doing these runs we even leveled very nicely to mid 90s. Since some of us had few extra computers we brought in mules so we had 8 players all in the same area for maximum drops. In few weeks I hope I could start this group again. Of course next question is how to divide the drops. Below you can see few ways how to do it, but you can also suggest your own ones.
If players change a lot then taking turns on drops is the best way. Only bad thing with this and all the other sharing methods is that sometimes, more often in public games, you have few bad apples in the group that just grab the good items. Usually when I have done this we go in the order of names displayed in party screen.
If you have a MFing group that always has same players I would simply pool all drops together for one day or for a longer period of time. Dividing with multiple good items is easier than with single good one. In order to make sure that there will be no fight about the top item we usually determine before starting which player will get first pick. If Ohm rune happens to drop that person usually takes it and in future games he does not get first pick until others have found similar value item. Once we did use price guide for anything that drops and is the value of Pul or more and made sure that items values each payer got were close. We still used round robin, but if first player got Paladin combat skiller he was out of the loop until others catch him up in the value. With good trustworthy group these methods we not much needed as division of items was an easy task using some common sense.
I have currently Offensive aura hammerdin which gives +630% to damage. I could also make any of the 3 other characters, but that would take a bit of time. In general it is good to stay away from cold damage and HF mercs as we want barbarian to use find item on bosses and RoF + CS has lots of them.
