View Full Version : Blood moor makes me sick

Why all public duelers go fight in this place? This is kinda boring, same rocks, same grass , stupid zombies , and $hit.. That would be cool to see public games for example with name "Travincial Duel", so everybody ppl who join game will know where action is going. Thinking about more cool duel arenas (clear all monsters before, offcourse) :

Inner/Outer cloister - this is cool arena with waypoint in middle , and nice terace surrounding it. No much space for zons, but this is kinda not bad

Canyon of Magi - Lots of space for public duelers, noobs could hide asses in tal tombs if they see they are going low of life , and put wp's in there, haha

Kurast Docks/Spider Forest - This place is very interesting, those rivers could be cool advantage of ranged/teleporting chars. That should be cool thing to be amazon in there and shoot guided's at stupid paladins who are runing in other side of river, searching for bridge to reach you, :lol:

Travincial : Cool area, lots of stupid temples,those ladders and platforms could add additional tactic elements

What ppl do you think about my ideas? :idea:

I think certian areas, actually most areas, would give teleporters a huge advantage, making it all about who was a sorceress, or had enigma.

For example, the flayer jungles with the rivers.... Melee chars without enigma would get destroyed without enigma or some form of teleport.

Anywhere in act2 or 3 has waaaay too long a way to walk each time you die.

Act1, they all look the same as the blood moor, or are too "dense" (catacombs for example, no room to maneuver) to be viable. You mentioned the outer cloister, it has potential, but think what an advantage defensive characters would have... for example, a trapper. They cast traps in a corner, so there are only 2 ways to approach them, and mindblast away, you cant even reach them, and casters cant keep their distance. It's all too close quarters or has too many obstacles.

In act5, the arreat plateau, frigid highland areas have potential, but again, its harder to navigate than the blood moor in terms of walls in your way.

I see the canyon/desert areas in act2 as the best alternatives, but when you die, its a LONG way back to walk... actually, it would not be that long... you could take warriv to act1, hit up the waypoint and go to act2. I guess I dont really know why, except that its like a standard, duels just ARE in the blood moor.

It probably has something to do with the fact that you end up in act1 if you change difficulties. For example, go to act5 normal, then quit and make a NM game, go to act2 NM, then quit and make a normal game, you're in act1. Therefore, it makes sense that duels take place there. Then, the reason they are in the blood moor is its too easy to guard a WP, easier than a town entrance thanks to loading times and whatnot, plus all the "good" act1 areas look the same, so why switch for asthetic reasons?

Nice enclosed area, circular room, cool pentagram around the wp (iirc tho), wp is dead center, which also makes it cool, and it has a nice dark background... only thing that could possibly be slightly annoying is the pillars in the room... The great part about this is that there isn't much room for defensive play.. and even if you catch a ww lock, where are they gonna go?


I've had some fun dueling at that wp before :thumbsup:

For me nothing beats dueling Caster vs. Caster on the "River of Flame"
Once you clear you duel on the whole path towards Chaos Sancutary (Another good place)...
Casters can fly all over the place there, this is the only place I utlize hydras and meteors if using my FB sorcey.

As far as a practical yet innovative place for all to duel I'd choose:
Arreat Summit, TP outside and you could duel all you want in a nice confined place. If it will work :D.

it would make nk 10x easier which is why anywhere but a town entrance is terrible.

also other entrances suck for their reasons they all have tiny paths out like 1-2 people can block it easily.

if you can get someone to duel in the halls of pain it's usually a GM duel anyway... show me a pub noob who has that wp..

As for the river of flame, sounds quite fun, i regret not trying it earlier... come to think og it, arcane would be a cool place to duel aswell.

...other cool places? uh... dunno, for bowzon vs. bowzon almost anything can work, bloody foothills would be a pretty cool place to try though

bloody foot hills and out side of act2 are nice places.. its funny because i was actually thinking about how boring it is to duel in act1 too. problem is places like act3 is the narrowness as state above... trappers and blizz sorcs will have a very easytime nking u and tg as well.

Although the wp's have potential, the advantage usually goes to the person whose there first in pub duels, sorc rushes to the wp and juss spams bliz/met all day long. In private duels, its not as hard, juss arange for the peeps to meet elsewhere xP

I would have to say that a fun one would be in chaos sanc with all the monsters still in there xP Worry about the other person and the pesky monsters xP

Yeah, until people start using those little floating islands as places to lay mass traps, or use the multi-tiered path for hiding and jumping :lol:

I said bowzon vs. bowzon.. all those little different levels make it intersting, and harder to find a good spot

I have to nominate that secret cow level. Casters, hammers, hydras, blizz,etc and tp back to town and hostile or fohers vs poison necs vs diablo clone in the throne of destruction full of burning souls and mummies.
