quick question about blade fury

I am making a trapper, and to deal with LI's i'm thinking of putting an ethereal stonecrusher/stormshield on switch and using blade fury. My major problem will be of course, how the heck do i hit anything.

I am considering two options, socket crusher and SS with hel, base str about 85. Get enough dex for max blocking.

Socket Crusher with eth, SS with p diamond. Again, enough dex for blocking. Requires more str so less life.

Would i be able to hit anything in hell with either of these set-ups? Bearing in mind that stone crusher has - 25% target defence and -100 monster defence per hit built in. My gear will be mainly for the lightning sentry side of things so I wont be getting any ar from there.

Or you could just max out Fire Blast? The damage on it gets fairly respectable at the higher (30+) skill levels.

Yeah, i could, but instead of cursing that my legendary hammer wasn't a shaeffers, i wanted to do something with it. And it's always nice to be a little bit different

I have a question about BF too. is it possible to use BF effectively with one hand weapon? Possiblely with claw? using a huge 2H weapon just doesn't sound right.

With my Assasin, I found an effective way of dealing with LI's was to put a good bow on switch. This saves skill points and because my Assasin used a lot of points in dex it was very easy to equip one of the higher classes of bows with some good damage. Also you could try mind blast if there is a group. Note mind blast as far as I am aware does not work on Baals minions.

Well, lemme see if I can help a bit-
Why get max block? If you are going to be a Trapper its most likely that you will be grabbing 2 claws, right? So instead of getting dex for max block, why not pump a few skillpoints into claw block? Its not like you are going to use your switch SS/Crusher ALL the time, is it? And also, if you ARE going through the Crusher route, its most likely youll want to stack on CB. Maybe if you put 1 into Claw Mastery you could BF with claws with DMG and skills instead? With enough skills, your CM could go beyond 10, so it would mean a nice AR boost.

@DeathMaster: It would be very effective if you managed to get some godleh eth 1-hand weapon of some sort, maybe a good eth crafted Berzerker Axe. VERY effective IMO. Stick something like Storm or maybe Splendor for the skill for the shield.
Or just stick on some godleh eth claw. Or even better, 2!

I know if I get a perfect BoTD 1.07 eth zerk axe, BF would be very powerful. :drool:

But back to reality, all the BF guide recommend huge 2H weapon for the damage since BF suffer from "3/4 weapon damage" and lack of added damage even you max the skill. Has anyone done BFsin without a BoTD eth zerk axe?

It is not likely I will build one very soon, since I have long way to finish my double throw barb, and the next build might be a tri-element sorc - just waiting on that damn tal's amulet to drop. :rant: :rant:

i think that using a 2 hand weapon cuts the dmg to 3/8ths. ie half of the 1 hand dmg.

I guess i will go 2 claws eventually. For now however, i don't even have one decent trap claw, let alone 2.

its 3/4 for 1handed weapons
3/8 for 2 handed weapons
and I really hate this one 3/4*1/5 for ranged weapons that 3/20 folks yepper just like crushing blow ranged weapons sucks with skills and there damage is usually low already.

your best weapons with BF are
ctc static
crushing blow
open wounds
^^ these three take no reduction since they are based on monster life and clvl/slvl

ctc anything large (yea even fissure from earthshifter will work here, volcano from pompei's is nice also)
high elemental damage (load up on cold charms)
venom (sniper viper build is based on these 2 skills working together)

My personal favorite is chaos blade with ctc chain lighting rings.

Weapon speed is irrelevant for BF. Its fixed af 4fps. You just want the highest damage 1h weapon. You are right about going dual claw though. The BF/Trapper hybrid is my fav char right now and thats what works best on it. Uzziah already explained the rest of what to go for.

Actually, I think it's 6fpA (frames per attack, frames per second is always 25, just so people don't get the terminology mixed up).

Ctc static field seems completely useless, seeing as you're going to use blade fury specifically against lightning immunes. :uhhuh: So I'd try for either fire, cold, physical, and/or crushing blow/open wounds. Something like upgraded ethereal fleshrender (unique barbed club with open wounds, crushing blow, and deadly strike), ethereal fleshripper (mine is somewhere out there now) or ethereal gimmershred used together with tiamat's rebuke or swordback hold (50% open wounds) could be pretty cool.

Yea the s and a are too close together :rant: . I read 4 in the assassin forum several times so thats where I'm getting it from. CtC static wouldnt be completely useless because the way I play it you're using both BF and traps all the time. Of course I also go claws so don't use that runeword even if I had the runes. CB is your real friend, and you can get a managable ammt from gloves and boots. I should really get to writing a guide on her because it seems no one else plays BF/LS the way I do.

I play 4 types of the 6 types of trapper I know. 3 of which are pure trappers of them I play a Bladefury/Lightning sentry, and a Bladefury/Death sentry (the other is a firetrapper hybrid). I have played with the Chaos blade and a few other ctc type items as I said before having ctc chain lighting from your rings is nice. What I didn't say (that I should have) is that ctc on striking works with blade fury, ctc on attack does not work with blade fury.
