View Full Version : lighsabre
yesterday a friend of mine gave me a lighsabre. I know it's a pretty good item but wich build or char shall I use it to?
most people tend to use it with paladins, because of its insane attackspeed. The damage on it isnt the highest, but with the speed you can reach by using Zeal and Fana you will be able to deal damage. Some people also use it on barbs, but most common is paladins, and especially for its high attackspeed.

I've got one on my Zealot - not only for the aforementioned attack speed, but because the Zealot suffers from a lack of elemental damage. He won't if he swings a Lightsabre, because it adds a significant amount of Lightning and Magic damage. I back that up with Holy Freeze (adding Cold Damage) and some items that add Fire Damage, and elemental immunities (nearly everything in Hell is immune to something) are no longer a concern. Also, some Crushing Blow help greatly, as it will usually get triggered at least once in your 5-swing attack.
The Lightsabre has merely average base damage, but the attack speed AND the 5 attacks per swing make up for that. It's a great weapon, but you need to build around it.
Also, you have the opportunity to build a character that looks like Darth Vader - who wouldn't want to do that? :uhhuh: And the sound byte that accompanies Fanaticsm even sounds like Darth!
In single-play, where I have a ton of items at my disposal, my Zealot swings a lightsabre and has a maxxed Fanaticism aura - he's absolutely unstoppable. On Battlnet, where good items are harder for me to come by, he's got a Holy Freeze aura. He is doing well, but I need to put some hours in with him.

my fire claws druid uses a lightsabre. Its cheap, you dont have to repair it, and its decently fast. Shael in it makes it even more effective. Its great for those characters like fireclaws druid (which does 6,000 damage PER HIT and attacks insanely fast btw) and frostzealots or tesladins who's primary damage comes from an ablity stacked to your attack.

I'd use it on a dual-wielding barb...two Lightsabres lets you absorb 50% of lightning damage (and when the Hell wispies come at you, you need it!) and you get a +14 LR (great for REALLY dark spots like caves).
