I have been mfing for three months with my level 88 Sorc, CheaperThanAPeso, and after finally aquiring three ists through finding and trading, I then traded them for a jah. While having just found another ist and an archon plate with three open sockets to make Enigma, all I needed was two more ists. I was planning on starting a Hammerdin, but anyway, while running Meph, Andy, and the Pit today, I found Trang's Gloves, went to put them in my stash to keep for a friend, and my Jah is gone.
I was told by a friend that it is gone because it was duped and that since the ladder is restarting tonight, they erased all duped items. Well, how true is this because I was trying to check online about the ladder restarting, but couldn't find any info anywhere. He suggested to me to just wait and start on the new ladder, but what the hell is the point if I can't be sure I am getting a duped item or not? This game is garbage :rant:

you can't tell if you are trading for a duped rune or anything, otherwise people wouldn't make dupes because they'd be easy to spot.
as for ladder restarting, there no no official word. I wouldn't expect it to happen for about... 6 months
I had something along these lines happen to me a couple months back... Me and one other guy were doin' meph runs and since he had everything he could want I got all the drops :). around the fourth or fifth run lo and behold unique vampirebone gloves :surprise:. So I grab them and leave to join the next game. No problems I sell all the other crap drops to ormus making sure to leave these gloves off to the side. In that game we just hung around town and chatted for 5 minutes or so then I went to bed as I was dead (tired). The next day I logged on to xfer them to my melee sorc and they were nowhere to be found. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know which one of us you were referring to, but with me, even if somebody did know my password, it is impossible for them to have taken the Jah rune. This is because when I started my runs earlier in the evening, I saw that the rune was in the stash, but after about 10 or so runs, when I went to put the Trang's gloves in the stash, the rune was gone. What I am getting at is that if somebody by off chance did know my password, there is no way they could have taken it while I was doing runs, correct?

I lost a vex the same way - except I was going through a period of getting really bored with diablo so I saw it was gone and was like "Oh look my vex has gone, now where's my guitar?" :lol: the bordem acted as a very effective sedative :rolleyes:

Hehe, man I got exactly the same story as you, though I grabbed my drum sticks and the rune was OHM :D

As for the vanishing gloves... people always attribute "poofing" to dupes, but there is a significant chance that Blizzard's server-side software sucks. Not everything that poofes is necessarily a dupe; IF Blizzard has indeed implemented some dupe-poofing scheme, there is always a good chance they f*d up and poof some non-dupes as well, just for the fun of it.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if they ingenious "dupe removal scheme" doesn't exist at all, and they just randomly delete expensive items.
Your game probably got rolled back, is why you lost the gloves. . .
Although, were you in the game more than five minutes after you found the gloves? Because if you were, I have no clue, as the game saves every five minutes.
Nobody knows my password and, if they did, I would think they would take more than just those gloves, and I know that they couldn't have been dupes because I saw them drop, so I'm gonna hafta go with the rollback theory since I did leave the game pretty much right away although they were still there in the next game....

Dude I totally feel bad for you on your loss--
I always hear people here who frequent the trade forums say that you should only trade on the forums-- there is a level of integrity and accountability that you won't find out in the realms.

Hmm. If I was a mod or programmer for blizzard and I was bored or mad at the world because my girlfriend left me, I think I would mess with the game a little i.e. Rollbacks and "poofing" just for the F of it. But that is just me or is it? I wonder if the guys get bored and say "Hey lets mess with this guys, what are they going to do?" :thumbsup:

OOOooo ya I forgot to say that I lost not only an HOTO and Enigma that I bought(I learned a valueable lesson that day about 50dollars worth, that 1. I dont buy crap anymore<---dumbie 2. that I dont trade unless its here. 3. That I use all my own runes in making words<---- made my first Gul and Mal 2 nights ago)

Sorry for your loss but I try never to have high runes just sitting there unless I found them myself. Next time socket it immediately or perm it. Take care and good luck to you in future

dupes are usually high runes or godly items that are not sefl found , but replicated with a program. Think about it this way. You have a better chance of drowning in a puddle of water than finding a legit zod rune. With all the zod circulating how many people would be dead from puddles of water?
From what ive been told (told by someone who frequents battle.net forums) that both realms were shut down for a couple of hours yesterday or a day before and the realms were cleaned a bit. Dupes things are going bye bye. I.E wiz gloves, .08 valks, runes. I lost a jah and a zod rune and a .08 valk 2 days ago. Im not very mad though because this will help make d2 so much better. My sacrafice is going for the good of the game. Finally blizzard has started to kill dupes.
