Seems I can't find an outright explaination of this marrowwalk bug I keep hearing about. What is it, and exactly what does the bug do for a necro? TIA.

Marrowalks have a a set of level 33 bone prison charges on it. IF a necro does NOT put any points into bone prison then the charges synergise bone spells. So to utilize this bug simply equip marrowalks and refrain from putting points into bone prison. This bug can work for any skill that has synergies. There is also talk of using a ring with firebolt charges to synergise the fireball and meteor that you get from trang-ouls set.
*Note*- the reason why this is called a bug is because when asked about the marrowalk synergy trick, blizzard responded saying they didn't realize that the charges would have an effect on synergies.
I hope this helps!

You can find the Marrowwalks Explained:The Charge/Synergy Bug (http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=144059) thread in the [ Essential Necromancer Information ] (http://www.rpgforums.net/showthread.php?t=232935) sticky.

People don't like flames either dude. I'd hit the "edit" button before DK catches up with you

The kid don't run his mouth off, he don't get no flame right? There are ways to say things without coming across like a jerk. This boy obviously doesn't know how to do that. With his attitude, I'm sure he will get his share of smack downs in life lol. Just the way I see it. Like I said, the boy needs to learn how to get a point across without being a jerk. I would expect to get the same treatment if I were to make a remark like this, hence why I would not make such a remark in this manner. To each his own, and I ain't editing nothing.....

Hot-Jaim, I agree with you... it's pretty annoying when somebody rudely tells you to check the stickies... my style is to link to them... so the person see's it's stickied and hopefully gets the hint... but either way... the admins here WILL ban you for flaming him back.. and when you add -- in words to replace letters so you can swear without actually swearing, they will ban for that too.... you can't do things like replaces an S with $ if your trying to say the alternate form of the word Donkey. Anyway, while I agree with you that his post was not a polite way to inform you it's stickied... I don't wanna see you get yourself in trouble either. I had similiar problems when I first got here saying(posting) things I should not have... and ultimately, the admins will come down on you regardless of the reasons for your behaviour.

GovofCali,
Thanks for the consideration. You are right, I should not have flamed him back, but the kid needs to know how he comes across to people. Don't want to get in any trouble here, so mods, feel free to delete my second post in this thread. Just trying to save this kid some misfortune down the road, don't want him to come across like a smart-alic to the wrong person. Could be painful....so hopefully he would learn from all this. My apoligies....

Neither do you have the right to keep on talking trash about him. So I suggest you either shut up or post nicely before DK comes upon you.
And, the reason why we post responses like Pallidum is that people ASK the SAME QUESTION over and over again without even looking at a thread called...[Essential Necromancer Info] or something like that, can't recall the thread name off the top of my head.
We seriously need to like make the sticky post like BIG CAPS and size 20 font so people will read it before posting the same damn question over and over again. Even worse when people want to use the marrow bug.

OK, we should all be nice now... let's just agree...
1) Rude posts do not justify flaming back
2) Calling people 'Kid' in a thread is a subtle way of flaming
3) Telling people to shut up is not nice
4) Despite who is rude to who... if the info is true (users need to check stickies)... just ignore the rudeness and move on... argueing will do no good.
5) When new ppl come, the same questions WILL be asked over and over... it happens in all forums i've visited... and I just ignore posts if I don't feel like answering them if they are stickied... it may be good advice for many ppl here to follow.
6) Oh, and one last thing.. and i'm kinda a hypocrite for this... let the mods do their jobs and scold ppl... there is a 'report' button for notifying them... hehehe.. but this one is hard for many of us sometimes... we all feel like we gotta remind ppl of the rules ourselves in public threads instead of just using a quiet PM to the offender.
Edit: IMO- Marrow bug is perfectly legit to use... why not? I can't use my 35ED/+8Max Damage jewel on my helm or armor due to a bug... why not take advantage of bugs that help us if we have to deal with bugs that hurt us also? It all kinda balances out in the end. (not sure why I added that... lol)

Yea sure...extra 1k damage, thats just so fair to other duelers, marrownoobs are what gives necros such a bad image, not to mention it lets them summonlame. Then again, 99.9% of necros that use marrows suck or use autoaim, just an observation.

While it might not be fair to use the Marrowwalk "bug" while dueling, is it such a sin to want to take advantage of a "feature" of said item for PvM?
Everyone has to start out the same way - new to the dark ways of the Necro. I have spent many hours pouring over the guides and the ones I read certainly don't frown on their use (although you are correct when you say that it is considered bad manners to do so PvP in those same guides). I am still learning to function with my first Necro who is benefiting from the use of Marrowwalks, but is also benefiting from well planned stat placement. I never play PvP, so to me, the Marrows are just a tool to help me survive the swarms of monsters thrown at me B.net . I am still learning my limitations and ocassionally have to slink back naked to retrieve my corpse despite the outrageous advantage afforded me by those boots, so yeah - call me a n00b, but don't fault me for trying everything I can to survive such difficult challenges created on B.net.
The original poster of this thread really should have gone to the essential info page, but to flame someone over his error was probably not the best course of action and fanning those flames over the personal preferences of game play and gear selection isn't going to help.

Souless-CHILD,
Sorry you feel this way. I go the right to say what I want to, so thanks. Please don't tell me to shut-up, if you got nothing to say that contributes to the thread, it's you who should shut-up, thanks again. Without the rudeness of Pallidum in the first place, all this could have been avoided, right? A simple, "check the stickies thread" would have sufficed. And I did check the stickies before hand, must have just missed it. It's all about how you come across to other people. Once again, you are another who comes across like a jerk, trust me, someone will pop you when you have this kind of attitude. Don't take my word for it, keep it up, it'll come.....only wish I could be there to say, "Sorry, but I told you".....
Hot-Jaim -
You are not going to make any friends on this forum calling them all "Jerks" and getting upset over their opinions... just let it go dude.

Just trying to help these young men out...giving a little advice. BTW, my objective here is not to make friends. That ain't why I signed up. Signed up to get some guidance on my characters. If all you are going to get are smart-alic comments, then I will not be asking any other questions. Go back and reread this thread. You will see that by replying in a compitent and reasonable manner would not have gotten such a reaction. I wouldn't reply as such, therefore I don't expect to receive them. Bad attitudes will get you no where, except a smack in the face. Use this type of smart-alic attitude to the right person's face?, you better have your guard up. All about manners, some people need to be taught some. I'm done with this thread now. Didn't mean to step on any toes and I'm sorry for telling it like it is. Hard the hear the truth sometimes. Good luck.
@Hot Jaim your initial question was actually a good one even though there is a sticky about marrowwalks the sticky does not go into detail about what actually happens to cause said "bug". Though people have told you off they may not understand your question in full thus they may be answering the question of what is the bug not how does it work. That question belongs to the sticky but your inital question is different.
There is no outright definition of the "bug" just many many different versions of how it works and what it does. Not many are anywhere near thurough enough to answer the whole question. I will state my variant of the answer:
The charged item bug allows the synergy bonus of a skill to be effected by items with charges. It works by having no skill points or staffmods adding to skill points, then equiping an item with charges on a character. When the game attempts to figure out the synergy bonus it sees the charges as skill points, oddly enough it sees the highest charged item as skill points (a ring of lvl 2 bone spear charges will override a ring of lvl 1 bone spear charges, I have tested and proved that; on a barb no less). These synergy bonus'es do not have to be part of the characters normal class infact they don't even have to be a skill used by the character, ctc skills will also get the synergy bonus from the bug. Oddly enough any skill that could be cast by the character in anyway will gain the bonus, this includes other charges from other items or the same item for that matter (runeword venom is the only one I know).
So overall if you have a charged item that is of a skill that would synergize a Skill, Oskill, Charge of a skill, or Chance to cast a skill; and do not have any +skill staff mods or hard points in that skill; you will recieve a synergy bonus equal to the slvl of the charged item when using the Skill, Oskill, Charge of a skill, or Chance to cast a skill.
How to exploit this bug is a much larger question. That can be answered in parts depending on how you wish to use the bug. For instance; I can get a sorc to deal a ctc with over 1000 damage and it only requires 1 item, earthshifter. slvl 14 fissure with slvl 14 volcano as a synergy gives 345-372 add on the 163% fire mastery from a slvl 20 sorc and you get 907-978 fire damage. As an added bonus you could throw on stone armor and hellmouth for a ctc 241-279 firestorm before fire mastery which would be 634-734 damage now remember thats per second and per flame so it is really 3 * 634 -3 * 734 or 1901-2201 damage per ctc.
Yea sure...extra 1k damage, thats just so fair to other duelers, marrownoobs are what gives necros such a bad image, not to mention it lets them summonlame. Then again, 99.9% of necros that use marrows suck or use autoaim, just an observation.
Thats true soul kinda makes me sad that necros are getting so nubbish these days... i have 1 and only 1 guy who uses marrows (prolly cause i only got 1 marrows rofl) and he dose worse than my Grim Spur necros..

Hmmm, I forget about PvP when I post a lot. I only play PvM, so I could care less about advantages over other players... cause i'm usually partied with them :) But yeah, I guess with PvP, there are a different set of rules to follow and what is right and wrong. I've even heard some consider it bad manners to use Enigma unless you are a sorc or to use Decripify... but being a PvM guy... I don't give that stuff much thought. My comment about Marrows being OK to use were PvM specific

Hmm. Typical "read the stickies" thread, so I can understand frustrations & I dont think the responses were that curt.. unlike
"Pallidum,

"which == teh banstick all by itself.
Whereas I may have considered being lenient, reading constant "the kid" flaming innuendo did my head in I'm afraid.
The kids done gotta check the stickies - and more importantly the forum rules - 'afore they post.
