Greetings,

I just logged onto D2 for the first time in months (I left before patch 1.10) I was forced to play at a public computer and some of the things I saw upset me........

It seems that (atleast on my screen)
The word "cracked" seemed to be replaced by the F-word
The Death message now read "you have died. you really (f-word) up didnt you"
etc...

Now I seriously doubt that this was actually intended programming but I wanted to be sure. if this wasnt intended I defintly feel like doing a witch hunt for the moron who did this...........

Well it's definitely not the death message I've recieved more times than I care to admit this season.
What caused it I couldn't say...one of 2 things seems likely:
1) It's essentially just a boring client side display mod that someone decided to install
2) It's part of some random hack that someone had installed, as the kids who write hacks seem quite fond of editting various display crap in addition to whatever their hack is doing.

I'll assume that you weren't knowningly running any hacks yourself, but it's possible that if you were playing on a public computer that had d2loader or whatever installed you may have just run that and that may have run a hack, if #2 was infact the culprit.

Naw ive always been the "legit" player. My parents still believe Diablo II is a "demonic influence" so I went down to a local "Network Gaming Cafe" Well im happy to hear Blizzard didnt turn into "l33t speak newbies" Now to track down the kid who installed that and uh.......... (not sure yet)

Don't they know it is a story of Good battling against Evil? It is not like you are going around slaughtering puppies or defiling innocent sheep. You are on a quest to vanquish Evil from the land and return peace to the world.

They should make kids play this game in Sunday school it is so darned righteous

d2loader doesnt give any messages, its just a program that lets you run without a cd in the cd player so you can spare the original cd(i.e. not seeing it explode in the cd player ^_^)

I could very well be wrong there though, I haven't used it since running multiple characters with it stopped working nicely.
