Arreat summit is a good place in general to check for itemstats including the number of sockets an item can get.

Be careful, 'cause it's got a couple things wrong.

There's also an application on this website you can download to view the information on the ArreatSummit from your desktop. It's called ASoD I think, and it's incredibly useful (for me, at least.)
