So tonite I lost my strafer to lag on NM ancients. Sure. She was too low lvl (45). Sure. I've lost lots of chars before. But finally, after playing a character to her end, untwinked, I've done what I can do. I've dueled, I've tried to keep up with the Joneses, I've made cookie-cutters and grim-totem barbs. So what. So has everyone else. Tonite, I deleted the game from my drive, and will let the 9 accounts (mostly full of mules) expire on their own.
The game has been fun. It's been plagued by cheaters, bad balance, poor design, and lack of support by it's creators. It's been addictive, in a way that I wouldn't have thought possible for a game. And much of that part, I owe to this community. No, many of you don't know me at all. But, I have enjoyed your company nonetheless. I wish all of you the very best in life you could hope for, and the peace that can only come with silence. You who I've played with have been unexpected friends. You who I've chatted with over the forums have been unexpected sources of interest and challenge. Everyone else, thanks for enduring my directionless rants and rambling ravings. I suspect that this will not evoke any responses from the HC community, but no matter. I still thank you all.
To those of you in troubled states, best of luck in your rebuild. You know who you are (cookies to one and all).

Heh. You know, the most addictive part of the game, as I said, turns out to be the people you met along the way (even if only in virtual form). So, if McSaladshaker can get a consensus game, I'm in! And even though I won't be playing D2 anymore (I just need to try to let it go...), I'll stop by to peek in on all the bunnies & cougars, just because that's the part of this thing that I never got tired of. You guys are great!
Cy, I will always think of you everytime I see a pile of cookie crumbs suspiciously left where I thought there were no cookies at all...
I guess it is sad to me that a lot of the other posters seem to have moved on too (Nightshade, Rah, Barry, etc). We need a new game, and I'm not sure whether it's gonna be another Blizz game or not...but I guess in the meantime, we can still talk of cookies, hurricanes, and slightly psychotic bunnies and sexually frustrated cougars. Also in the meantime, let's find that next game kids!

Yeah, I'm getting to the point where it might be time for another game. Just too stubborn to upgrade my computer. It does suck that so many people have been leaving the forum lately though. A friend of mine who just quit D2 last weekend is giving the newly patched StarWars Galaxies a try this weekend after upgrading his PC. My buddy at work tried it when it came out, and it was the SUXXoRR! Might be better now I guess though.
Ahh who am I kidding, as soon as I'm done getting my house all put back together I'm gonna start MFing obsesively again day and night... MUWAHAHAHHAHA!!! It's good to take breaks every once in a while for a week or so methinks, but quitting? BAH!!!
