View Full Version : Ugghhh, help restarting
I somehow died on a NM pindle run (wasn't paying attention I guess) with my lvl 75 Frozen Orb Sorc, lost full tal set (except armour which I could never afford), perfect Viper, Lidless, and an Ist Rune (as well as 5-6 other decent uniques I had in stash). I know this is probably chump change to some of you, but in my 2 or so months with this game this was devastating. I've lost higher lvl chars before, but none with items worth as much as tal ammy, ist, pviper. On top of that, the ammy and ist rune were both given to me by a friend.
Well, now I want to build an MF Sorc to bring back my lost stuff, and maybe repay my friend, since that was a big part of their stuff I lost too :\. So keeping in mind I'm still a relative newbie, can someone point me toward a good MF sorc guide that's easy to use and isn't too risky? I was actually pretty happy with the FO as it was easy to use (though my MF never actually went above 100 I don't think).
P.S. How long do you think it'll take to regain what I lost? Assuming I do runs at least a couple hours/day.

Depends how much you play. I found myself a way to get items.. trading pgems and getting mf gear and doing mootrick on mephisto hell . Pretty easy and dropped me 2 storm shield in a day. it all depends if your lucky or not

If you MF for at least an hour a day you should do alright, but it will take a while to get rich again. The FO sorc is good, but helps to have a merc on Meph so you can aim orbs better. It's hard to make a merc that will take all Meph's hits without dying or needing a juv.
Also... why were you running nm Pindle? and why were you only 75? It seemed like you had stuff tha twould require mfing a lot... I would suggest getting to 88 (I feel that at this level it starts to get tedious [to some] to level) so you ahve more life. It never hurts.

Not to upset you, but it is a simple fact you could MF every hour u play for months and not find a Tals ammy........chit just happens that way, but at the same time you mihgt find 8 Shakso 4 SS...etc!!!
Build you a tank sorc, and stop messing wiht Pindle!!! Personally I would not Pindle with Orb at any lvl. Blizz is safe as hell with Pindle but Orb requires you to get closer which can cause a mistake and a death.
Remember, Tals ammy can be dropped by Norm Council beleive it or not so dont think you must get to Hell Meph to regain your losses.

NM Pindle has absolutley nothing to give you, frankly it is safer to run Baal solo than to screw with Pindle in NM, and Meph can give you all you need in NM.

Lidless has:
mana/kill
Defense
+1 skill
Lidless doesnt have:
Block %
Block Rate
Resisits
Takes smoething like 365 dex to get Block on a sorc wiht lidless at like lvl 90
with Whitstans it takes like 165 dex
Viscreataunt is a much better shield than Lidless as it has +1 and has some boosted block rate
Mosers is good also with rez and possibly more rez and also has reasonable boosted block rate
WARD is better than Lidless and it sucks!!!
At like lvl 80 or maybe 75 it only takes like 85 dex for max block which is very easily attained and if you use Wizzy you alreay need a hughe part of that.
You want to make a sorc that will last take a good long look at (3) item slots
Weapon/Armor/Shield
Wizzy/Viper/Whitstains (80 FCR 1 common Priz ring will put you above 65 Priz IIRC)
Wizzy/Naj/Whitstans (50 FCR) Couple nice FCR rings and you are set
Sub in Mosers or Viscretaunt!
With Mosers you can have max rez simply and add dex gear for block, or maybe even go with more of a 50% Block which is by far way better than what like 14% with Lidless
If you need mana per kill so bad its a much than get Silkweaves.
Dont cry CY, get your some Silkweaves and a Mosers and forget about that stupid +1 skill it isnt worth running around with terrible block and poor resisits or needed a lot of rez charms.

Lidless has it's uses, but not on a mf sorc. Keep an eye out for a 2 socketed 120+ def grim shield and make rhyme. You will be much better off.
I have p-diamond whitstans on light sorc (whom i have kinda ignored for a while anyway)...just always wanted to find a lidless for some odd reason....must be leftover softcore wish list.
Somoene was kind enuff to post a list of many shield and thier dex reqs in order to get max block at some lvl points lik e70, 80 and 99. I HAD this here somewhere but cant find it, but after looking at that it was all I needed to select the shield I would use for my sorcs. The dex reqs for shield skyrocket for max black after you look at what it takes for Whitstans.

Lidless still has its place in HC:
A p dia lidless is a cheap shield that is decent. I never make blocking sorcs, I dislike them, so visc to me is even worst than Lidless.
And if you have max resists with lidless, then why not have the benefit of a skill.
Its not hard to get max resists on a sorc. Even on a Zon it is easy. Dont start subbing in gear that does basically no good to you if you can get the few positives of it elsewhere easier.
Then of course you need to have rhyme on switch...

Does lidless no longer have 20% FCR?
Because that's a MUCH bigger selling point to most people than the skill...
(I still wouldn't play a sorc using one unless she had 200% FCR though ^^)
