View Full Version : KTA 7.0 A few things to sort out?
The other thread just broke the 100 posts mark and gets a bit messy to scroll around in...so why not start a new one.
Aerath, Basketcase, Mal and det did most of the questing of the evening, but Soulonyx was also present, though mostly in town and afk. Frosty seems to suffer from Hurricane aftermath, Baroni from death. Our 8th spot has been terminally vacant now.
We swiftly vanquished the monsters in act 3 and only succumbed briefly for a 20 mins interluded to the lag monster. After Mephisto, the monsters in act 4 also found out quickly that if you mess with KTA, you mess with the wrong ppl. However, the lack of gloams helped greatly and Diablo suffered Mephs fate quickly.
The whole adventure just begs one question.... KTA 7.0 seems to be destined to become only 50% of what it could be. It looks suspiciously like we are going to be more or less half a group. It's not really a problem for me..I want to see the end of hell - whatever it takes.
How does everybody else feel about this?

To be honest, I don't really care whether or not half the party vanishes, I fully intend Guardian or Deeds with this group...
If you want to try and recruit some stand-ins, feel free, but we may well find that all of a sudden, everybody becomes available again, and I wouldn't want to see anybody who was in from the beginning dropped out.
I know it gets a bit annoying when an 8 player group deteriorates in numbers, but what can you do about it?
Well, I know i am the one who keeps bringing the subject up...maybe because it never has been as extreme as it is this time. And I kinda feel you deserve a "better" KTA experience with your first outing :) (or Mal - who has the straight comparison with KTA 1.0)
That said, I think we have the potential to go quiet far with the group as it is. We always had a death sooner or later in the game and it never stopped us  ...and I still have a few points saved that (with my +skills) could get us a few extra meat (well "bone") -shields in the shape of 3-4 skellies.
Lets see what hell brings...hopefully the next sessions also bring back a few characters.
Like you said..what can you do?...

Well, the thing is, my phone didn't go off until much later, after the hurricane passed. I think they cut a line or something, or maybe their comps fried. But because many people are still without a phone connection from the hurricane, they have the priority to get fixed.
I'm not having a whole lot of luck with getting my char leveled to where you guys are, so i'd have to start a new char to catch up.
I only get to play a total of maybe 10 hrs a week (including kta times)
so i can't catch up fast
if i'd been able to go from the start that would be one thing, but i hate leveling solo, and hard for me to gain on u guys when i play an additional 2 hours of untwinked a week tops
cheers and stay safe
-tai
Well, feel free to recruit someone to fill my spot. After Sundays debacle I have lost all heart to even load up D2 for a while. Gonna take some time to finish CoD - UO and Farcry then maybe I'll feel like coming back.
I will be logging on now and again to refresh my mules a so-on. I can't
see the D2 abstinence lasting too long though. It usually only takes me a week or so, and then I am full of enthusiasm again.
Sorry to drop out on you, but I am sure whoever is left will be more than capable of handing Baal his a** on a plate.
Good luck guys.
o_O Baroni..hope you don't let this discouragement spoil your fun for all of LOD.
Yeah, with Lusse's bad internet issues and phonelines being cut by the forces of nature, it seems Baals minions have helpers that we cannot compete with. Even the ppl playing yesterday had some bad lagspikes...a thing you don't need on top of Dolls in durance.
I vote with Basketcase...we continue as we are, and if anybody can catch up, or wants to join with an untwinked character, they are welcome.
KTA 7.0 will become guardians..one way or another :winner:
o_O Baroni..hope you don't let this discouragement spoil your fun for all of LOD.
Nah, like ai said, I just need a week or 2 to re-charge my batteries. I have these periods occasionally where I lose some interest, but then the urge always returns in due time.
D2 hasn't seen the last of me yet :)
At least a few picture...repetitive as they might be (hint..somebody dies and it ain't us) :)
Did anybody pop it? (http://www.det-animation.de/kta1.jpg)
Diablo dies (again..and again..and again..) (http://www.det-animation.de/kta2.jpg)
The mess we leave. Yuk (http://www.det-animation.de/kta3.jpg)
Are we gonna do first drops on Baal?

Like I said last Monday, the more the merrier... But I have no problem with continuing as we are, or any doubt that we might not make it to Guardianship.
Basket's remark that he'd appreciate an extra tank has me concerned though. I thought that, of all builds, bears are about as durable as they come. Perhaps we need to take some time and list gear, so as to make sure that the tank(s) get the absolute best equipment. We might also want to list our current issues and plan tactics accordingly.
Off the top of my head (I'll flesh it out when I get home):
KTA-Malus:
armor: Stealth breastplate
shield: Ancient's Pledge rondache (Steelclash on switch)
weapon: Spectral Shard (magic +2 Salvation, +2 Meditation scepter on switch)
helmet: magic, +2 defensive auras circlet
amulet: magic, +50 mana, +50 life
ring: rare, +resists (2 x +20%)
ring: rare, +mana
gloves: rare, +resists (2 x +20%)
belt: magic, +life, +resists (1 x +20%)
boots: Caster demonhide boots (magic +19% fire resist stashed for Hell)
All resists maxed, except for one (cold iirc, at 66%).
Issues: none really; as long as I can redeem corpses, my mana ball holds up well. I'm unsure whether to equip Spectral Shard (50% fc), or my Tir'ed +3 BH scepter. Suggestions are welcome. I do see the occasional monster drop before our melee gets to it, so them hammers must be doing something.
As for tonight: first drops on Baal? Either way is fine with me.
Cheers,
Mal
A tanking idea:
Like I said, I have now maxed out PN and PE. 2 points left, but close to level, which means I could invest 1 point in SM and RS (something I plan to do at one point anyhow).
With the +skills I have (+2 on wand, +1 on helm and depending on what ammy I wear and if i switch the shield I could get another 3 to summoning there) I could add 3 to 4 skells, that can't kill and are not the most durable minions, but they will be up front with you guys and take some flak.
Re-summoning will be no problem..and maybe instead of Decrep I could use Confuse more. Monsters will take a bit longer to kill, but they are also less of a danger.
Really the wand that I want from Baal is the Arm of King Leoric. Annoying chance to cast PB, I know..but +to summoning AND to P&B is just what I need :)
Until level 84 (at which point we usually finish KTA), I would aquire 20 (+4) more skillpoints, that could go into maxing out PD (17 more needed). 7 points would be free to get revives or more CE inbetween...
I am not really expecting a Homunculous to drop...
My equipment is irrelevant to the tanking issue, but consists of
Tarnhelm
+2 P&B ammy
Stealth armour
+2 skills wand
+2 P&B head
Frosties
rare rings and belt with resists
FRW boots with fire res
Fire 66, Cold 30, Lightning max, Poison 40 (ish)

What's Wormtongue wearing on the weapon switch? Perhaps a +Revive wand and/or head would help to alleviate the tanking issue -- without investing any skill points.
Cheers,
Mal
Yeah, I have a +2 skills, +1 revives wand and a +1 summoning head.
I tried that that trick earlier in normal when we did Baal...but Revives are so stupid, get hung up at walls and disappear when they lag too far behind, while Skellies often will race ahead and always keep up.
Could give it a shot tonight again, though...

Basket's remark that he'd appreciate an extra tank has me concerned though.
I don't actually recall saying that, but I also have my grizzly who is a fine tank.
I'm currently running at 2.5k life without BO which is kinda ok, and am fairly happy with my gear which consists of
Rare +2 Druid pelt
Rare +1 SS Amulet with life and res
Lionheart
String
Sigon boots + gloves
String
Aldur's Mace
Rare shield with some res, could do with more :-)
Couple of rare rings
I've got pretty much all the str I need for gear now, so all new points are being split into dex and vit, mainly cos I'm having trouble with AR, but that's slowly improving, and I should hope to have 3k or more life before we hit hell

The bronze bit is new, but I've been using this sig for a long while on other forums. I had some good sales on ebay this week, which allowed me to filter a little bit out from my paypal account for the pal status....
Got kicked from the game...
And now being told that the CD is already in use by Aerath - and that I'll have to wait for 5 minutes...
So... I'm going to keep trying like heck :P

Those damn vipers have struck again. It's odd really. The last time I did was in hell and they didn't seem that bad. This time they nearly wiped us all out, and managed to nail one of us. e.e So now we need to help basket rise again. :winner: What's odd though is even with a venom ward, bo, oak, and a antidote pot, the ******s almost got me. That's a scary thought. (Of course, it MIGHT have something to do with the fact I was charged striking... :x)

It might also have something to do with the fact that by the time that happened, the oak was gone and the bear was deaded......
Still KTA-Hofmeister is now lvl 12, and I'll get him upto you guys by monday, so once again you can 'follow the bear' (gratuitous use of early 80s advertising slogan in the UK  )
Ah..now I understand why you were talking about "KTA_Hofmeister" in the game. Curious what that name is about (meaning s.th like "Janitor" or "Master of the backyard" in german  )
That "deeds" situation was really weird. I had pushed all portraits away to better cast curses and didn't see anybodies health drop. I was also a bit too far away I think to cast DV or so...not a very good handling of the situation on my side, I am afraid. The quest icon popped up at the same time and I was getting concerned to switch to CE..not cursing anymore. Then your deeds showed already up... (you were not even that close to Nit, I think) :(
Memo for Hell: Stick tightly together and advance in a bulk.

Hofmeister was an english lager back in the days, with an advertising campaign featuring a large bear called 'George'. The tagline for the campaign was 'For a great lager, follow the bear'
As to it's meaning, I believe it's translation over here is something like 'Warm yellow urine type substance'
Heya fellas. I have some good news. I will be returning to the ranks of KTA on Monday:clap:
I made a Blizz sorcie with the intentions of pimping her out in some twinked up gear, but have decided she will be better put to use in helping my KTA buds conquer Hell.
I will be decking her out in store bought gear and anything I find from NM Meph/Baal before monday. I have already had some luck in finding stuff for my Merc (Shaft and Hone), but only 1 item so far that my sorcie can use (Whistans). I have a Lum which was kindly doanted by NM hellforge, but as yet no suitable 2 socket armour.
I am currently lvl 61/2 and will get a few more lvls under my belt on Sunday (going to the Casino tonight).
See you all Monday.
btw. If any of the melee chars want the Shaft then my merc will make do with summat else.
 Wow Baroni..that was the shortest 2 weeks break from LOD that I have ever seen
"The addiction runs strong in this one" as Darth Vader once said
Happy to see you on monday..we are indeed between lv 46 and 67. Basketcase was also coming along strongly. He was lv 41 at the start og NM when we parted yesterday..so we should be back with a vengeance on monday
Gogo KTA

61 now and still climbing. B.net still seems to have a sense of humour as far as it goes, today I find a dwarfstar when I really could do with a raven
Well...playing alone has the danger of dying but also the big advantage of actaully finding really useful stuff. By that rule, out Baal runs on monday should only yield crap
BTW: I suggest that we use games that were created by e.g KTA_Sturmrufer, so we don't have to do the whole: "Who is there to kill him first time round and creates but cannot deliver the killing blow when we get first drops because he does not have first drops anymore understand what I mean and if not why not I mean its perfectly clear and has been explained on this site hundreds of times just use the search feature"

Yeah, my ama biting the bullet was a pain in the arse, but now I will have to get on with building that cheeseadin I have been meaning to get around to. Afterall I have had a Hoto laying around on my mule for about 2 months now, and it seems like a waste to keep it there.
Only problem is, I really only have the HotO to equip the Din with :/ Maybe I should trade it in and use a Wizzy... Decisions decisions.

Yeah, the Nooblars. I sneer condescendingly at their sub-standard equipment. Bwhahahahahah
Well, Baroni, I would also love to try out a HotO for sure, but it is a lot more worth than just a Wiz. (You should probably even be getting a Shako and Stormshield and more for it)
But I bet you knew all that. :D
I played some games with Caje who uses a HotO and his Hammerdin absolutely rocks. If you plan going further than lv 90 or so, you need a lot of Baal runs and you want to have a strong Hammerdin for that.
I abandoned my Hammerdin at lv 73 last season..dunno why. Maybe he really was no fun after all :(

I love Hdins. I guess being able to lay waste to anything in my path is appealing to me. The trick I found was to get hold of a teleport amulet (with decent stats hopefully). Being able to tele onto any monster, and wipe him/her out in a few hammers certainly helps out when you are facing ranged attackers, or need to get rid of an aura boss quickly.
I say teleport amulet, cos there is no chance on this planet I will get hold of an Enigma :)
I would make one, but I really can't be bothered to get hold of the other items I would need for him. I think I will stick to the Blizzardess in KTA for now. Maybe I will get lucky at the Hell-forge and be able to get hold of a few items with my rune.
To stick with the rule that we are always more lucky when we play alone...Wormtongue just found a Spirit Shroud...
..and since I finally could not resist the urge to sink 1 pt in RS and SM, we now have 3 (or even 4) skellies up front and through +1 revives on my wand also a bunch of ..erm... revives :D
I have a teleport ammy around... no stats on it though.

The whole experience from waters breaking to birth was less than 6 hours - and only about 25mins of real painful contractions - so I must say we were very lucky.

I'd be forced to say it was more like having the worst runs in the world and someone stuck a bung in - so you couldn't release the pressure. If anybody is interested I have now set up a teamspeak server, so we can use voice chat on the game. I'll pass out the ip for it tonight when we meet up.
I'll have to see how it works with a few people on, and decide if it's gonna lag me too much, but we'll see how it goes
Cool :) Lets have a go at it again....
Whassap guys?
We killed Baal about a hundred times and nobody posts about it?
Well..if you won't do it, I'll have a go:
Yesterday, KTA 7.0 killed Baal about a hundred times, but he dropped only crap, true to our luck that we only find good items when we solo him.
A brief enterprise into Hell showed some of us suffering severe res. problems. Guess I'll need to use up 2 of my socket quests on my necro heads to plug PDiamonds into them.
Having a Barbarian around in hell would be really beneficial... (hint, hint)

Now come on Det, stop exaggerating. It was only about 97 times
Find of the day for me :
Nord's Tenderizer... Was a BIG oomph addded in damage when upgrading from Baezil's :)
Just seriously need to work on Res. I probably could do a Rhyme shield, but that'll actually be a drop in Res... Or just grab another 3 sock shield and forget about cold res in that one and just boost fire and lightning.
My charms are appalling though, so maybe I can find some to boost that a bit.
Bah - couldn't edit anymore.
Quick Cowrun with Basketcase yielded the glorious result of ... Nothing !
Couple worthless charms that I couldn't be bothered to reroll.
Oh well - merc XP was okay.
Did find a pair of Frostburns one the way to the portal today though. Anyone keen on those ?

My sorcie is already set as far as Frosties is concerned . Could do with a couple of res rings tho... :)
I wear Frosties already (or rather now I n hall I had to use res gloves :( )
I nice 2 socket Necro head with the right +skills would be my favorite to make a Rhyme in.
Roit - My Nord got Shaeled... now to shael the shaft and I'll be set for FHR recovery largely as well... (that must've sound odd to any non-d2 person...)
Found +1 Druid ammy from the countess... w/ +30 Cold res (the only res I DO have a decent amount of already !!). Joy.
Still not sure if I'll use it... +1 Druid vs +2 Shapeshifting... both have their advantages.
