Hey all,
I am debating between one of a few armors. Please help me pick which you think is best.
Eth Steel Caripice
2636 def, clean (~35k defense as currently geared, no defiance)
220 str req, heavy
nice sexy black color
+
Style, can be a bit more flexible on gear (I can go ber and berber coa +ber hoz, I could go pul for 288x def, or even an ed -req jewel)
-
heavy, no dmg boost
Eth Templars Might
2450 def, 16/15,2 (~31k defense as geared)
222 str, medium
ugly green color
+
dmg/ar boost, medium, str/vit
-
locks me into using a storm, ugly
Eth nonbugged Valor
2133 def, +42 vit, +2 pala (28k def)
155 str, medium
+
best overall dmg and life
lower reqs
-
I look duped
low defense
locks me into using ss
Thanks in advance,
Garbad
P.S. Please don't suggest eth bugged stone or eth bugged valor, I choose not to use those items.

Levithan with 25% DR would be my choice. I am playing ladder mostly and I don't have all the gear but I intend to make a PvP zealot once I have all the gear traded/mfed.
Temps and Carpace way too much Strength to invest for the extra defense.
Valor is the best choice out of the 3 you have there. Also you could use a double ber 15DR Crown of Ages and 15 DR verdungo to reslove your DR issue.
I still prefer Levithan although you look like an ugly glow stick wearing it the mods on it are still the best in my opinion.

What would you suggest as a levi setup? And why levi over upped shaft? And what is good defense on a levi. I believe I have a 25%/42 1674 def one or so.

Well my setup I was thinking of is more cookie cutter >< but oh well here it goes
Helm: Crown of Ages socket Cham Ber
Weapon: Etheral Death Cleaver
Shield: Etheral Exile Vortex (64ed/121ar eth one I found) / If ya don't like it then Alma Negra
Rings: Angelics
Ammy: Angelics
Armor: 25% Levithan socket with -15 req/ed/ar/def or some godly rare -req jewel.
Belt: Haraus
Boots: Haraus
Gloves: Mangus Skin
Shaft is nice but the best defense possible is 161x and thats rare to get a perfect roll. Also with the Levithan has nice strength bonus so you don't have to worry about wearing stuff and it also adds damage do your zeal.

Well,
since zeal is buggy and 90% luck 10% gear and charms
i would have to go with Valor. You need at least 1.8klife to stay alive.
i use a Upp Shaft, but i am going to switch after my long talk with rees. Hopefuly Get a Good Zod Valor.
I love my 2K+ Stone archon plate but if I could I think a 1.5K+ Duress Archon plate would be my favorite for my zealot. Too may awesome mods on duress not to use it in my oppenion. Eather way i use a SS and Eth BotD zerker. My only problem is I dont want to use a Exile shield but I cant beet them at the moment because I have tryed not to use the angelic set but will have to change this soon if I dont get better charms to get my AR up!!
Also I dont have a COA so i use an andarails vestage helm which is pretty cool i guess but some would disagree.
Zealot are just so cool with charge and smite just in case for surtain instances.

A Valor wouldn't lock you into using an SS by any means. You could use a BerBer CoA and a Verdungos, or a Ber .08 gaze (assuming you have a legit one). If you are determined to hit that 50% cap, you could throw a Ber rune in a non-ethereal Pally shield. I personally prefer Valor or Stone out of what you mentioned. Stone will have low reqs, thus giving you more stats for vita, but it will probably be about the same if you use a Valor. Valors also have +2 to skils, which contrary to popular belief will help your Zealot a lot.

I am finding it hard to pick between a +2k stone or eth steel soc with pul here is what I think
"Goods" and "Bads"
--Stone--
Goods
One: stone has way more d avg of about 250-500
Two: stone has a nice 60% faster hit recovery (fhr)
Three: stone having a nice +300 missile d
Bads
One: NO DR!!
Two: low + resistance *15*
Three: depends on what you put it in might have high requirements
--Eth Steel--
Goods
One: A stone 9-14 DR!!
Two: with it auto repair save you gold and time
Three: 40-60 cold restances 1337!
Bads
One: NO all resistance!
Two: use a little more fhr *20*
Three: 232 Strength Wow grab your +2 str small charms!

Well assuming zeal is more dependent to luck than AR/DR ratio I would stick with mods that have 100%chance of being useful.
So Valor (life) would be my choice.

Valor also has 30% FHR, which, at least I think, is a pretty important mod.
P.S. Please don't suggest eth bugged stone or eth bugged valor, I choose not to use those items.
mmm...since when it is allowed to speak about bugged items in forums  ? This means we can suggest to use bugged Tals and this thread wont be closed? Not even a healthy flamewar from the veterans side?

Why not? We all know they exist. People routinely talk about using MH and crap. The rules just say don't link to it, talking about it is fine, at least in this context.

perfect or almost perfect Chains of Honor owns all, I think, and so does Enigma (which can ultimately save enough str to make up for life) and the price/mod ratios on Stone and Lionheart are pretty good too.
but, to stray away from classical choices, double upped twitchthroe is cool for the IAS mainly, and both black hades and grisworld armor, as well as a socketed normal armor with high defense, gives nice room to put in 40/15s or w/e.
guardian angel is a old classic, and wealth rw gives potentially more mf than any other armor

low def on all of them.

i find the best armor to be a coh but thats just me it has low defense but it makes up in resistance
but if u really wanna go for defense i got this awesome up'd shaftstop pul'd ethereal its insane defense and has like 78 durability
If you can use all 3 armors without sacrificing too much damage, life or ar, then go for the highest defense.
If you are planning a zealot with a non-botd, then go for eth valor.
If you are planning a zealot with botd/guillaume helm and ss, then go for eth templar or eth carapace with pul.
It's too bad that eth upgraded shaftstop doesn't exist. 24xxDefense eth upgraded shaftstop would have been the best armor with Alma negra.
Why does no one this that "DURESS" Rune word is not a noteworthy choice??
If made in a proper light high defence armor that is assuming maybe 1500+ defence.
OW, CB, Resistance, FHR, even ED and +cold damge
JUST WONDERING???

a lot of the better zealots do like it. It is really a nice armor, but the cb is more useful for pvm builds or smiters. In most cases, an upped shaft is more pvp useful, and other armors are for those who like inane defense (sorry, couldn't resist  )
anyways, I really like the armor, and its a great option for the poorer.

I think Duress is what I'm going with unless stone is a better choice.

Depends on how much def/fhr you can compensate with the rest of your gear, I think stone is more versatile though.
